In central London in the vibrant area of Bloomsbury, this large, vibrant hostel is near Russell Square Tube Station. The Generator has an internet cafe, a lounge and a games room with pool tables.

We were given a larger room than we had booked. Lovely to have space in London. It was clean and quiet and you could make a hot drink whenever you wanted one.
Breakfast was a bit of a scrum, more like a hostel but the food was plentiful.
Freedom could go in and out as and when, shared bathroom and toilets were not a problem as there were plenty of them, we would definitely go back again
We are in our 70's and were on the 3rd floor which was 68 steps and we had single beds which we will not want next time, this was through us booking too late
Straightforward helpful staff, no bunk beds, big windows, basic but ok
The place needs decorating and could be cleaner. Wifi was appalling in the room.
I found the room 10A to be clean and comfortable, but would recommend the room have a fresh coat of paint on the ceiling and walls to freshen it up.
Great location. Close to bus and tube station. Small kitchen to cook meals. Breakfast included.
Steep stairs. We stayed downstairs and could hear everything in the hall, reception and breakfast room.
Location Friendly staff Good price for location Good to include breakfast - albeit a bit basic - as most hotels at this price don't
Beds a bit like school - not over roomy A bit tatty Ensuite shower - why not put a loo in too?
It was only the 2 of us but we got a bigger room of four beds. Clean rooms, refurbished bathroom. Great location in Kensington Chelsea, close to the tube and the city center. For a relatively low price this is the best you can find in LDN center.
No TV in our room, very poor breakfast: only some bread, marmalade, and cornflakes.
5 mins walk to Glouster Station which is part of London city centre circle line. Cafés and restaurants about 5 mins walk as well.
Room quality is fair but it can be enhanced to be better.
The servant are really nice
One of my roommate snoring all night. I cannot fall sleep.Wish the hotel provide earplug will be much better.
Very friendly and great location, nice view of gardens in square
Very basic, but fine as we were on a budget
location, kitchen open all day, friendly and helpful staff, clean, free WiFi, quiet area
some beds less comfortable, a lot of stairs to climb
Location and breakfast was good, shared shower and toilet were clean.
The room was moldy, dark and small in the basement.
- very nice part of town - lovely old house in which the hotel is situated - friendly staff - free wi-fi - I liked everything
- the dining room is small and thus crowded but I guess it cannot be helped because of the architecture - it is an old building and there are no big rooms - it would be nice to have a vending machine with drinks and snacks
Small beds One pillow
Good location, nice staff. Shower was good, but basin was mini.
poor quality of beds, breakfast was poor, no kettle for tea/coffee in the room. The walls and so on need to be cleaned and the decoration of them needs to be fininshed...
Friendly staff, very good location, nice surrounding Good bathrooms and showers Fair breakfast, appropriate kitchen and fridge, tea and instant coffee available for free dawn till dusk Fabulous price/quality ratio
location was good. staff freindly
Dirty bathrooms, not cleaned - raised with staff but not addressed. Poor beds, one small pillow. Curtains did not close. One toilet for ALL guests - never available. Poor price for what was actually a hostel rather than a hotel.
the possibility to use the kitchen
good location (underground is close, non stop Tesco), WiFi, clean room and toilet, good price
breakfast was good but little choice, strange door opening (room B), the shower wasn't so nice
Great value for money in London!! Pretty simple, but you get what you are paying for Pretty close to the underground, but if you want a nice morning walk you can head into the city via hyde park, buckingham palace etc
The price, the location, the self-catering facilities
Reception being in the basement and my room being 4 floors up with no lift. The mattress was uncomfortable.
Quiet location, close to tube station, super market,. Good price for London.
No lift. Dorm room will be 4th floor.
location, clean, rooms are big and comfortable, good wifi, silent
old beds with broken springs
WIFI Modern bathrooms Location No curfew
We walked into our room, and we were rather discappointed, as the room was'nt the same as it was showen to me on the internet. The room was'nt comfortable over all, the walls were dirty, our windows were chained in such a way that were unable to open it to get fresh air, considering that it was summer!!! Our stay included breakfast, which we never used, as were werent given any information as to the times that breakfast would be served. We werent aware of the cleaning times, as we notices that there had been someone in our room. We asked to cut our stay short and leave Wednesday instead of Friday as planned, we did how ever recieve 150 pounds back, which we were really greatfull for.
Excellent value for money. Best I have found in London! Lovely quiet neighborhood, a short walk from Earls Court tube stop. Quite large dormitory rooms. Good basic breakfast. Nice lounge room with tv.
Reception usually closes early. Gloucester Road tube stop under construction for the Piccadilly Line. Very few toilets for dormitory room guests. Some guests had problems with wifi.
