The breakfast was fresh and tasty

Stood waiting for 10 minutes for someone to come to the Reception to check us in, the hotel isn't like the other Best Westerns I've stayed in before. It was quite small, most of the paint work was black and grubby. The mattress was awful, I've never had such a bad sleep in my whole life. Spoilt our night away as the next day we had planned to go for a spa day but we were so tired we kept bickering (myself, my mum & sister) and falling asleep rather then having girly chats.

    hotel restaurant.

Room was badly laid out. Bed was between 2 walls, so uncomfortably short for anyone (like myself) over 6 ft. hotel backs onto noisy lane. got woken several times by drunks and municipal workers emptying bins. TV on light far too bright - had to switch off at wall.

location was great as it was in the centre

Very early sunday morning, the wagons outside made a real noise as they unloaded into the shops right outside the hotel. We were in the first room and the toilet windows were right next to the street. It felt really exposed.

    Location

Paid for a double but given two joined up twin bed Place looks out dated and claustrophobic surprisingly for an upgraded suite Has a policy of no outside food. Intent on hotel customer to use their own restaurant services.

The room was comfortable. Everything in the room was clean. Left us with plenty of tea and coffe also biscuits. Staff was helpful even though one told me the wrong information.

The window was open when we got there and there was no way of closing it as they are very high windows. Miss told information about the payment, used my card when I got there to authorise. Then noticed the amount had left my bank. I checked with one receptionist who said it comes out and then goes back in (I thought this was odd as I was only staying for 2 nights and it was still out of the bank the day before I checked out). I then checked with another receptionist the night before checking out and she got the manger and he advised it is taken to an holding account (none of us can spend it that way) and when we check out it would then go to them.

Comfortable rooms I was moved to a different room because of the window problem

Single room was not prepared properly. Because the weather had been hot, it was important to have had good ventilation. The windows had not been checked and could not be opened by hotel staff member.

Excellent curry in restaurant, comfortable clean room, nearby discounted parking, good breakfast, proximity to Crucible and High Street.

Room was quite hot especially when we arrived and its not possible to open the windows yourself. My wife was kept awake by noisy neighbours checking out in the middle of the night and people in the street, but it is a city centre hotel so certain amount of noise is to be expected.

Location in city centre. Fan for use in room. Tea/coffee/chocolate/biscuits. Friendliness and helpfulness of staff on arrival and while there. Free car parking.

Not accessible with car for elderly person travelling with us. Left an item of clothing in wardrobe and rang hotel day after leaving despite promise to send it on heard nothing. E mailed since to find out, as telephone out of order, still over a week later no response. Disappointing.

I was given a postcode to the NCP car park. My sat nav took me to an NCP car park that was a good 10 min walk away. When i got to the hotel i said "i think i may have gone to the wrong car park". I was told that if it is NCP then it would be OK. The next morning when i checked out my carpark ticket couldn't be validated as i was in the wrong car park..... OK, it wasn't a huge amount of money but the annoying thing was it was the same person that checked me in and out. Also the rooms are tired and smell a bit strange. The Leopold hotel is far better, the staff are just so helpful.
