The Oak is a traditional village pub on the outskirts of Coventry, very close to Coventry Airport. The pub is a 10-minute drive from the town centre. Major motorways are easily accessible.
Score from 215 reviews Very good
This traditional hotel is just 4 miles from Coventry city centre. Located just off the A46, with great road links to the M6 and M40 motorways, it offers refurbished rooms and free parking.

Sink too small
Friendly staff and a pleasant cosy room
Very warm welcome, clean and comfortable, very convenient for air travel or business in East Coventry
Not easy to locate after dark - signage needs to be brighter/more prominent.
No fuss, convenient accommodation. Helpful proprietor. Better than average for Coventry for the price.
The Dakotaoffers hassle free comfortable accommodation for those not looking for frills. Staff were very helpful and as we changed booking did this with no fuss. WiFi code available and connection was easy.
Only downside was the shower which worked but was difficult to control with very limited flow. However, my understanding from talking to the owner is these are being replaced over the Christmas closure so should be better in the new year.
Host was very pleasant , always smiling and seems very genuinely interested in helping.
the shower...not hot enough
Very helpful and welcoming host
Bed was a bit uncomfortable
The owners were helpful, considerate and friendly, everything was clean, would recommend Dakota Guest House.
Location was ideal for my purpose.
The traffic getting up from Essex
I attend an annual event in this area, I won't look any further than Dakota. My room was scrupulously clean, warm, maybe even too warm for me, but that is adjustable. Breakfast not included but can be orders the previous evening, I did not, Iso cannot comment on the quality. The Oak, the village pub 5 minutes walk away, provides a good pint and good food at a good price.
I really can't think of anything I disliked about the Dakota. I enjoyed my stay, I will be going back, what more can I say.
Like many of you likely sizing this place up, I too was a little put-off by the state of the adjoining building, but after taking a chance and trying this place out, it really makes no difference. When you're tucked up in bed, you may well forget it's even there. I did! Having known I was to be late checking in, the owner (Jeanette) insisted this wasn't a problem. When I finally arrived at 11:35 in the evening I was greeted with a warm room, a note welcoming me in and a key to my room, free of any fuss. The following morning I was welcomed to the guesthouse by Jeanette, who was thoroughly pleasant throughout my stay, offering tips on how to get around the area and not minding that upon checking out, I accidentally left with the key! (fear not, future guests of room 5, the key was returned when I realised my error!)
Though the location wasn't a problem aesthetically once you're inside, the fenced-off area does cut down the number of parking spaces outside. Fortunately, there is space along the road not too far from the guesthouse, so you'll be fine as long as you remember to park considerately, so as not to upset the street's other residents. This was easily done with plenty of room to spare, so it shouldn't really be a problem. For me, the bed wasn't the comfiest I've slept in, but I'm aware that this is entirely subjective. What's comfortable for me might not be for you, the reader, so you'll only know if you try. For the money, especially if you're using this as a base for the NEC or Stoneleigh Park (as I was), you'd be a fool not to consider staying here, considering prices for the usual chain-hotel alternatives (I paid around £200 less than my peers did for their stay for the weekend). If you're considering staying here you must know that it isn't the Ritz. No, you won't find champagne on tap, a red carpet to welcome you inside and a glistening staircase hewn from the purest white marble. Instead, you'll find something much more valuable - service with a smile.
“Highly recommended don't miss this place out” Every once in a while you might fall by chance on a B&B that is just more than what you expected and you feel that its a real treat! Well this is one of them. Jeanette could not have been more helpful or welcoming. I would also like to express my personal thanks to Jeanette for all the help and support given to me at such a difficult time. My sincere thanks.
Jeanette could not have been more helpful or welcoming. The room and facilities were spotlessly clean and all my needs were close at hand. I would recommend this guest house to anyone. Thankyou.
Not knowing Coventry I was totally dependant on my 'SatNav', but got there in the end.
The hotel is in the middle of nowhere so it's hard to get a taxi to come and pick you up - they couldn't find the B&B!. Nobody was there when I arrived, just a note on the door with a number to call to get the door code. What if my battery was down ?? (I just about managed to call). The shower in the room didn't have hot water. No hairdryer. Heating could not be controlled so I came back in the night in a freezing cold room. Walls so thin that I've been waken up at 7am on a Sunday from the noises coming from the other rooms. I would not recommend to stay in this hotel.
vendor was friendly and helpful. Accommodation was excellent and it was quiet and relaxing. Ideal if visiting the complex at Stoneleigh.
value for money.the staff were great.very clean & comfortable.good pub within walking distance
appearance a bit off putting.car park very small & had to park van over the road. minor point really
Very friendly manager who goes out of her way to make the stay as perfect as it can be.
Good shower in downstairs room. Tea facilities provided. Clean. Friendly owner.
Green fire exit light so bright couldn't sleep. Footsteps and doors echoed loudly. Owner's dogs barked at 5:30. Only 1 hook in whole room. Downstairs beds very hard, with noisy springs. Toilet shredder very noisy, with sudden spurts. Shelf over narrow sink made it difficult to wash face or do teeth. Only a trickle from upstairs power shower.
The room was lovely and homely and very clean
Nothing at all
Very friendly. Great place to stay would recommend. Room was very clean
Very helpful and friendly staff/landlady. Nice clean rooms.Good local shops ,dining, takeaways and pub food nearby. Quiet location even though its near an airport .Good car and van parking facilities either on site or very close by. Overall a pleasent stay.
Difficult to use two hundred characters on what i did not like so having too use that many is one reason! The only problem or discomfort i encountered was next doors/room bathroom extractor fan being clearly audible whenever .it was operated throughout my stay.
Clean and comfortable, Jeanette very welcoming and recommended local pub for food which both myself and my son enjoyed. We only stayed overnight in between uni visits but would note that although this is near to the airport (we saw lots of signposts) we did not hear any planes. We enjoyed our stay
Nothing, from the outside it looks like next door is a bit of a building site, but it did not put us off and would recommend
Jannet is very very nice.
Very clean, comfortable, secure, 25 mins from NEC in a nice, quiet village, friendly staff
The shower system could do with an upgrade but was adequate.
