The Dale Lodge is in an excellent location in the beautiful village of Grasmere. The hotel reception, lounge and restaurant are all very tastefully decorated and welcoming. The room we stayed in was a standard double which was small but pleasant, with a small en-suite, which was very nice. We ate in tweedies bar in the evening which is great for food, or just for a beer, this is a part of the hotel complex. I would happily stay again

breakfasts room was outside main hotel and required us to run between buildings in the rain; sitting room sofa was dirty; bedroom area headroom too low for anyone of average height; televison remote did not have a battery; poor selection of drinks in the minibar fridge; no quiet hotel bar in the main hotel.

Bed was comfortable, nice, peaceful surroundings, very clean. Nice touches including luxury bathrobes and slippers which were much appreciated as we had decided to stay over at the last minute and had no overnight bags with us! Nice fluffy towels, good bathroom facitilities. Breakfast was nice & plentiful. Good selection of juice, cereal and continental style foods, English breakfast was tasty, staff friendly and attentive but not overly so. Was very good value for the £70 we paid but would expect a far better room for the £140 per night advertised rate! Couldn't get the towel warmer to work.

Reception staff very helpful, friendly & bright. Also very professional. Lodge restaurant quiet & cosy. Food good. I called the hotel 2 weeks before my break to confirm the booking, but they had no record of the booking. The receptionist Vicky, was able to check the Booking .com website?? and was then able to confirm the booking. On arrival, we were not allocated a "Deluxe double room" as booked, but a "Mews" room which was not within the main hotel. Although this room was supposed to be an upgrade, it meant that we had to walk across to the hotel for breakfast, dinner etc when over the three days the weather was very wet & windy. Although we had this problem, I would recommend this hotel again.

Lovely, warm hotel in the centre of the lake district. The room we had was quite well decorated and comfortable, but was small. There was good tea and coffee tray, tv, and the hotel is in a fab location. The room just needed a couple of things taking care of - for example the shelf above the sink in the bathroom was leaning so much you couldnt put a thing on there, and although it was generally very clean just a couple of things needed a bit more attention like where people had struggled with the sliding door out of the bathroom there were grubby hand marks on the paint.

We had a wonderful stay at Dale Lodge. It was a last minute impulse booking and we weren't disappointed - great value for money, a very warm welcome and friendly service. The food (we ate inTweedies) for dinner and breakfast was of a very high standard with an interesting menu choice. A fantastic location for walking - straight out of the hotel door and on to the fells in a few minutes.

The friendly staff, the ambience (except the bedroom) the location. We are both in our eighties, carrying our luggage upto our room proved very difficult. You do not ask for complaints so suffice to say the room was certainly not deluxe. .

The hotel is very comfortable with log fires in the sitting /dining room and bar. We received a warm welcome from the owner and the charming staff. We only stayed two nights mid-week so it was nice and quiet. The food was very good and reasonably priced particularly as we converted to the dinner bed and breakfast package once we had sampled it The bedrooms are good size and although not the height of luxury they are more than adaquate and have everything one needs.. The hotel is located right in the middle of Grasmere which is lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay, would recommend it to others and we will return

Room 7 was a very spacious deluxe room with a lovely leather sofa as an added bonus, which overlooks the gardens. The en-suite was very modern with a lovely large shower cubicle. The supplied toileteries were a lovely bonus too. Breakfast was very tasty with a good selection of hot options, plus cereals and fruit. The portion of smoked salmon and scrambled egg was huge! Would stay again! Room 7, we think, is situated next to the staff quarters so unfortunately can be quite noisy when the staff go to bed, as the floor boards are very noisy and I think they forget guests are in the rooms they are walking past. Also there must be staff accomodation above room 7, as whoever was up there was very heavy footed. Would stay again but not in room 7!

Food in the hotel restaurant and the adjoining bar (Tweedies) is excellent. Breakfasts were great - good choice and catered for our daughter who is 10. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Location of the hotel in Grasmere is perfect for fell walking. Room was big enough (even with a spare bed for our daughter). Hairdryer, bathrobes, slippers, toiletries and tea/coffee facilities were provided. Mattress was very hard (not just firm - but hard!). This is the only thing that we didn't like.

Exceptionally friendly and attentive staff. Beautiful dining room. Breakfast and dinner menus simple but made with attention to detail and dedication to quality. The Lakeland lamb and pork 3 ways were brilliant and the fish and chips were the best I've ever had. Tweedies Bar is cheerful and well stocked. The perfect place to meet after a day on the Fells. I look forward to returning. Very little not to like. Maybe someone with a screw driver could tighten the coat-hanger screws in room 8
