We stayed in room 4 on the ground floor but had people walking past looking in. A car then parked outside the window and the driver kept looking in aswell. Would suggest net curtain etc. Member of staff hoovered outside room at 8.15 Sunday morning...too early
Location was excellent. Very central. Breakfast plentiful and well cooked with plenty of choice. Food in Tweedies also very good.
On arriving we sat in the hotel gardens to eat some sandwiches before we went walking, an extremely rude woman stormed up to us and started verbally abusing us about how it wasn't a park and we would have to pack up immediately and leave. She was so angry and worked she couldn't quite get her words out and obviously felt shouting was the only way. I have never encountered such a rude, unprofessional person in a customer service environment. Such a shame really as the rest of the staff were fantastic.
The location is very central in Grasmete village. The Receptionist who checked us in and the Restaurant staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful.
The staff in tweedies bar where very unhelpful and quite rude on our arrival
the location and hotel staff where fantastic! The room was really clean n lovely facilities
The only thing was on our second morning the waitress hurried us and didn't even give us a menu, she later said it was because breakfast finished at 10am and it was now 10.05am however in the welcome book in our room it said half 10? Other than this the hotel was spot on and are thinking or returning in summer.
Location was perfect, we stayed in one of the luxury mews's which has a hot tub outside and the mews itself was gorgeous.
No hot water I had to boil a kettle to have a shave and after leaving the tap running for 20 minutes the shower was just tepid. We were situated just above the Tweedies bar what you failed to inform us was that on Saturday night that there are theme nights that kept us awake to two am .Didn't like the menu after trying one meal. I will not be going back to this hotel. .
Breakfast, well cooked and plenty of choice.
Family room fold down sofa was a little uncomfortable
Room was small, ideal for overnight but not for a long stay. Didn't have a bath
The hotel was very quiet.
The only problems we had were the plumbing we could not get hot water and at night time into the early hours there was alot of noise and banging in the rooms above us which meant lack of sleep for us but as soon as we told the lady on the front desk she said she would sort it out as the rooms above us were the staff quarters so hopefully that will be remedied as it would be a shame if that was allowed to carry on.
We visit grasmere twice a year so have stayed in numerous hotels over the last few years and the staff at dale lodge are by far the best always friendly and happy and ready to help, it makes the whole hotel a relaxed place to stay and the breakfasts are scrummy, the rooms are beautiful we will be back most definately
Unable to book a table for a meal in the bar as we had our dog with us, had to take "pot luck". This wasn't pointed out at check in.
Lovely big room, comfortable bed. Very nice bar and bar food
The bed was very firm. Did not receive details that we could have used the facilities at the langdale hotel and country club but we did not bring any relevant gear.
Excellent location and very quiet at night.
location is excellent rooms are clean and the staff are very pleasant breakfast is to a very high standard to kick your day off looking forward to returning soon
Perfect for going walking. Tweedies bar is a fantastic place to relax and sample some lovely real ale. The nearby Jumble Room is one of the nicest restaurants I have ever been.
The decor at the hotel is dated and the hotel would beneit from a deep clean. We stayed in room 18, if you are on the large size avoid this room there was only about 30cms from the end of the bed to the wardrobe.
The location of this hotel is in the middle of Gramere, so is a great place to explore the area. Staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them.
The free Wifi was often off or jammed to new joiners - the staff claim that the Wifi systems has to reboot 4 times a day (like no other wifi system known to man!). The wifi was therefore rarely available when I needed it despite me writing before hand to make sure it would be available during my stay.
The location, the room (7), the breakfast/
This hotel was chosen and booked last minute, we stayed here on the Friday night after deciding to drive up on the Friday, we had already booked another more expensive 4 star hotel on the Saturday night. After staying at these two hotels we both agreed that The Dale Lodge hotel was by far the most superior of the two with a better layout, a fresher feel, more friendly staff and stunning surroundings, the town was picturesque. In fact after traveling to Appleby Saturday evening we returned to grasmere, windermere and Ambleside on the Sunday. I will be recommending!
Friendly staff, excellent food and wonderful breakfast
The room that we were staying in was situated at the front of the hotel and the window was expose to others to view in. Frosted windows or nets would have offered some privacy.
The locality of the hotel was ideally situated to walk around the village
We were given a free upgrade, but room was freezing, wind was blowing in through gaps in windows, enough to make blinds blow, not what you would expect for 4stars. Heating did not work small convector heater supplied, not enough for a big room.
Food really worth money, service was good breakfast, Mmmm, this made it worth 4 stars, Tweedies bar served from Hotel but place was dirty.
Wifi was poor
The food and real ale
Stopped in outside lodge great views of the hills.. Cleanliness fantastic spacious accadation.. Hot tub outside although we didn't use it ..loved this highly recommend . Staff very helpfully .. Good choice of breakfast..
The free wifi was a bit flaky!
The lounge was very peaceful with a logburner and beautiful furnishings. If we wanted something more lively Tweedies bar is attached - more beers than you can drink in a year and a nice restaurant. The room was warm and spacious with views over the fells. Staff were friendly and efficient.
Beautiful setting in the village of Grasmere. Lovely hotel, very nice breakfast and the room was really nice. Excellent bathroom facilities. Have stayed in a damn site worse! A very picturesque place indeed
The photos and description of the Luxury Mews Suite were very misleading. The suite was extremely cramped. Despite being only 5'3", I must have banged my head on the sloping bedroom ceiling about a dozen times. The only place tall enough to stand up was where the bed stood. There was about a 1ft. gap to squeeze through to get to the far side of the bed. The hotel was very nice and the suite okay, but it certainly wasn't "luxury"!
Very attractive hotel in good location; nice food and bar.
Small room but expected for the price paid. Room was a bit cold but electric heater was provided.
Good location. Lots of walking options from the hotel. Lovely breakfast.
We were in Room 9, which is classed as a standard double room. What a joke ! This room should be classed as a single, especially the en suite as you have to come into the bedroom to get dried.
The location, decor and furnishings very good. Food was excellent.
