Nestled in National Trust Parkland close to the North Norfolk coast you will find this traditional English country house. Formerly the rectory for the parish of Upper Sheringham, this Victorian Grade II heritage-listed building is set on a stunning 4 acre estate. The 20 individually styled bedrooms are either beautifully furnished in handcrafted oak and traditional fabrics, or have a more contemporary style that complements the original features. The Dales is a lovely, old fashioned, country hotel. The staff were very helpful and efficient - just right. The location is very quiet but close enough to walk to Sheringham town centre/beach and also very close to the beautiful National Trust owned Sheringham Park. Everything was perfect - would definitely stay there again.

Size of bedrooms, peaceful location, staff very friendly, . Breakfast not included in price and was expensive, 20 minuite walk to town but road very dark and part of road had no path which made it quiet dangerous.bar drinks expensive but to be expected in a hotel. They also have some annexe rooms outside that are not the standard of a superior room but we were offered one as a superior room but complained and got moved to a superior room .

Lovely country house in a beautiful setting. Excellent restaurant and staff always smiling and helpful. Glass in the rug by patio doors which was dealt with after we asked twice. Waitress forgot our breakfast order and we waiting 40 mins to be served. These were two isolated insidents over a three day visit but they still should not have happened.

All staff were courteous, helpful and attentive without being irritating - congratulations! The hotel was comfortable and we were very happy with our room which was well presented and kept clean and tidy throughout our stay. The food was excellent. It was good to be able to walk and relax in the hotel grounds and we appreciated the close access to Sherringham Park. We had a wonderful week in every respect, thank you Dales Hotel! We would have liked breakfast to have been included with the price we paid for our room, at around £26 extra for the two of us per day, we found breakfast quite expensive. (But it was excellent quality!!)

The overall quality of the hotel was good and we had a relaxing weekend. the situation and location were for us ideal and we were not able to fit in most of the things we wanted to do. The food was excellent and the portion size good - i.e. not too large and the staff overall were very friendly and helpful Being charged for breakfast. Would be better to quote room prices incl of VAT particularly as it is now at 20%. Wine list could be a bit more extensive for a hotel of this standard

Nice room, Good decor. Nice settting. Good food. £217 for a room with no breakfast included is not good. Poor TV reception. No sky and even though digital TV in room no digitral channels on TV. Expensive wine, £36 for a bottle of Chablis and it was screw top.

Lovely hotel-wonderful location with great walks nearby. Interior decor very good-seems recently refurbished. Food was excellent, if pricey. Too hot in our bedroom. Food very expensive, including breakfast.

Nice hotel, well kept in beautiful grounds. Friendly and helpful staff were excellent and provided whatever was required. Food quality was very good. The hotel offers a lot, however even though the basic is very high, nothing is free, everything on offer has a high price. Although food is very good, portions are sparse at best.

Food was excellent as were the staff. We got a great deal on a room only basis. Wine selection was limited but reasonable. Room was lovely, very clean. Some of the public rooms were a bit tatty round the edges but in all a nice place with good food, not 5* but nice.

Very relaxing and comfortable, food very good (though rather expensive for what was offered). We stayed before in Oct 2010 and had found it excellent. Unfortunately some standards had slipped upon our return in April 2011. Some staff were very good whilst others were not so capable. The room, though large and comfortable had an unkempt air about it (dusty wine glasses, bar drinks, etc not replenished over the 2 nights we stayed and shampoo/shower gel also not replenished) The bed was made very badly on our second day.

The hotel was small and intimate. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Meals were excellent although you must book because it's popular locally. The setting was beautiful with extensive grounds attached to walk in.

Very welcoming, room smallish but very comfortable and the food was excellent beyond expectaions for this type of hotel The room was cold when we arrived and we did not have one hot shower during weekend - water was not cold but little better than tepid. Not the standard one expects from a 4* hotel. This was a great shame because otherwise everything else was very good. Hotel management not able to fix during the stay but offerd compensation which was fair. Only other minor gripe was that room could do with a fridge - drinks and snacks put out on the side - in hot weather would melt and white wine would always be warm
