The hotel pays great attention to detail. The rooms, some with four poster beds, have a sense of luxury and are incredibly comfortable. Dinner was very good, too, especially the steak and lamb dishes. Staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. There was only one vegetarian option on the dinner menu (a common problem though).

Friendly, efficent service. Excellent food and wine at sensible prices. Quiet, relaxing location and atmosphere. Lighting in parts of the restaurant was perhaps a bit too subdued, everything else was excellent.

The owner was very pleasant and sociable , this makes dalston hall a very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere to be in . It also only has 13 bedrooms so you will not be overwhelmed with people so if your looking for a break in a historic well kept building surrounded by beautiful gardens and welcomed by friendly and helpful staff then this is the place for you. Not a thing !!!

Extremely clean. Very friendly staff. It was very quiet, which suggested it wasn't very popular. I asked for a four poster bed and a nice view. What we got was a normal bed and a view of the local factory.

amazing building with very large rooms only us and 1 other couple staying! Extremely quiet with just 4 people in. Despite this felt service could have been a little more attentive. As a wedding venue with accomodation it would be amazing, as a hotel in its own right - not sure would recommend am afraid

Lovely old country house. Bedroom was well appointed and very comfortable bed. Our meal in the dining room was excellent. We did enjoy our stay, but with only 2 rooms occupied, it was very quiet! Would be a great wedding venue. It was like the Marie Celeste when we arrived to check in! No comfortable lounge (had club chairs mostly and a billiard table in the middle of the room) with big sofas and an open fire. Arrived back on first evening (after 11pm to be fair) and unable to get a drink. Nice toiletries in bathroom, but no hair conditioner!

We didn't arrive until 9pm but the owner made us very welcome and despite our arrival time the kitchen proceeded to produced an excellent dinner, a local steak which was recommended and was superb, a very rare treat to find this in UK hotels. Staff very helpful and knowledgable. Room furnishings excellent. I'm a business traveller and normally i,m away at least 2 nights per week and tend to use the major brands but I will not hesitate to recommend this hotel! A great find! Get a local draft real ale, more and more restaurants etc are going this way.

Very peaceful and nice garden to sit in The only real complaint is the room was too hot even though the radiator was off 2 heating pipes were running through the room so we had no control over how warm our room was and had to leave the window open all night

Room size good, facility's good, very clean and tidy, good views , Lovely garden, The manger or owner, very cold and unwelcoming, big castle with one other guest apart from us, Dinning room very cold and uninviting, meal a digrace, overpriced and undercooked, to cold to wait for it to be cooked properly so we left, and still paid for it, Will never return to Dolston hall,

wow! What a great building, grounds and location. Great for wedding venues. Staff were excellent as were the owners. Lovely people with a will do attitude. Great traditional building with bags of character. Will go back. Right next door to little 9 hole golf course and little caravan park. 10 mins from Carlisle centre.Well recommended. Drinks were a bit expensive, a little above the norm but in fairness was well worth the extra.
