the hotel is an exelent place to stay the facilities are exelent it is in a good place for walkers or the lakes in either direction, it is a nice friendly family run hotel that caters for your every need. The pool and gym are a bonus while i was there we had a full body massage whitch we both enjoyed very much. unfortunately what i didnt like was pets inside the hotel, inside the bar area were we spent most off our time my partner could scrape bunches of doghairs from the carpet with his shoe, i also did not like the food served in the restaurant i thought the menu was very limited the bar snacks were far more appertising. After walking most off the day you look forward to coming back to hearty meal not a wedge of sweet potato and a piece of chicken whitch did not go down to well. Concidering what could be on offer a bit dissappionting.

Booked the Hotel before we had heard of it's tv fame and on hearing about the program were wondering what we were letting ourselves in for. However it was fab ! The staff were friendly and very helpful. Wayne is a hoot ! And a particular "Thank you" to Sharon who brought our cases to Windermere for us x The ducks add to the ambiance and with a restuarant (the food was very good, 3 courses for 25 pounds) and a bar, you don't have to venture far of an evening! The only problem for us was the fact that we were without a car. We had travelled by train, not realising how far out the hotel was from Windermere. This meant getting a taxi every time we went out during the da (our problem not the hotel). An expensive do. However I would not hesitate to return to the hotel if driving.

Location location location, swimming pool and sauna etc. Alhadthough we paid full price for our double room, not part of any offer etc. the room we were alocated was dark and noisy, as we were on the stairwell we had to endure constant clatter and chatter well into the night. Think we may have been directly over kitchen, a generator noise was extremely loud and intermittent through the night which totally disturbed our sleep.I Think it may be beneficial for quietier rooms to be allocated to mature travellers to avoid any future complaints, in any case room 35 is to be avoided at all times. If we had been staying longer than 1 night we would have requested to be moved but since the whole object of our journey was peace and quiet on our anniversary night by the time we were in bed it was too late to do anything about it. Complained to the desk but just got a curt apology.

The comfort of their bed - the best I have experienced. Even better than Premier!! Their sticky toffee pudding - delicious!! The sausages for breakfast better than the usual cheap bangers usually served. They are in the process of upgrading so a bit disappointing in places. The door to our bedroom was a temporary one (plain hardboard) and the view from our sons' bedroom was very poor - overlooked the back of the kitchen area and was very poorly maintained. Thought £100 per room a bit steep as we had stayed in other hotels albeit not with a pool and no breakfast included but a lot cheaper.

We stayed overnight at the Damson Dene on route from the Cotswold to Glasgow. When we arrived were met by a friendly receptionist who explained all of the facilities offered at the hotel. Throughout our stay all of the staff that we met were friendly and polite. We ate in the bar in the evening and the food was very good. The breakfast was also very good with a wide selection of both hot and cold food, if you were lucky to have a table at an open window then you were joined by the ducks who were happy to share a slice of toast with you.

The room in the cottages annex was clean, bright, spacious and modern We have stayed before and were a little disappointed that the overall look of the Hotel was somewhat tired. It just didn't feel loved, the gardens were untidy, the pond looked grotty and all of the outside space needed a general tidy up.

Good atmosphere. Good facilities. Originally we were not going to eat here as we had spotted a pub down the road but it was fully booked so ended up eating at the damson Dene - we all enjoyed the food and felt the hotel staff were attentive and good humoured. Good cooked breakfast Ensuite was small.
