The room was superb as was the view I booked in on line and was quoted a price of £254 and my card details taken. When my partner arrived separately he was asked to book in and give a card for payment with a price quoted of over £300. Not yet received the final bill to see exactly what was charged as I did an express check out. Also we were told it was not necessary to book the restaurant but on going for a pre-dinner drink was told that the restaurant was fully booked and we would have to eat in the Terrace Restaurant - we were unhappy about that but had to accept what was offered. We both had steak which, quite frankly was inedible but my dog enjoyed it the next day although she even had a job to chew it. Danesfield is in a wonderful position it is so sad that there are things which need improvement.

The staff were excellent and the location was excellent The Spa facilities, they are very dated and need a lot if work, tiles were grubby, plaster is falling off the walls and some of the facilities were out if order. It won't go back because of this, a lot of money to pay for poor spa facilities.

Its proximity to Marlow was a definite plus. The staff were friendly and efficient. The views from our bedroom window were outstanding (overlooking the stunning garden and river). We're looking forward to going back and walking the grounds. The Spa looked tired and could do with a bit of a facelift!

The food was good and building impressive At midnight the room was absolutely freezing cold, then by eight in the morning it was like a sauna. Probably just needed heating timer changed. This is not a criticism because I am sure it was not intentional, just an oversight.

This is a hotel I didnt want to leave, this was due to the peace and quiet that was much needed. Set in the acres of ground was lots of hide away tables and chairs, perfect spots for reading a paper/book. We chose the hotel due to a local event (Rewind Festival) and I really had second thoughts about going due to the tranquillity of the spot I had chosen. I will def be visiting again to finish my book.

We booked Danesfield at the very last minute for a two-night weekend break and, as a couple who aren't easily pleased, were very satisfied with our stay - we liked the food - we dined in both restaurants and also enjoyed the breakfasts, the grounds were very pleasant to walk around with splendid views of the Thames, my wife used the spa twice and spoke well of it, the staff were friendly and helpful and the cost represented good value - and all within less than an hour of Central London. No strong dislikes but two possible areas for improvement - - the staff were generally young, enthusiastic and helpful but there seemed to be an absence of maturer staff and we wondered if this reflected a cost-related policy - ok, if things run smoothly but what if they don't? - staff didn't seem to know much about life beyond the hotel - we walked two sections of the Thames Path and when we asked questions about walks within and outside the grounds we felt we knew more than the staff - not all guests want to sit in the spa all weekend.

Our room was wonderful. The room was very spacious and well appointed and the view out the window of the grounds was incredible. We overlooked the formal gardens and the Thames. The staff was helpful, especially Richard. The grounds were delightful. Very peaceful, very nice. We were there during a warm spell, so the lack of air conditioning was certainly noticed.

The Danesfield House is probably one of the finest hotels we have ever stayed in. It is everything you could wish for with a country house hotel, with superb rooms, extraordinary grounds and caring staff. We were there to attend a wedding and the attention to detail was excellent. Superb weather helped and this fact will always make the difference when staying at Danesfield as the fine grounds and fabulous views over the Thames Valley are really capured when the sun is shining. If your scene is relaxing on a sun-drenched terrace drinking in the fabulous view whilst enjoying scones and clotted cream, this is the place for you. Only criticism is that the room had a moderate infestation of clothes moths. On waking up after a good night's sleep, I found that only 20% of my m & s pure new wool jacket remained on the hanger. Just kidding - but the staff assured us that was an isolated problem and would address it. Also, if you are allergic to duck down, ask for the polyester pillows!

We liked almost every thing about Danesfield House. Very majestic and grand building. The views were beautiful, nothing was too much effort for the staff who were very friendly. The Orangery restaurant where we had our evening meal which doubled up as the breakfast room was comfortable, light and airy and overlooked the beautiful gardens. Good quality food and reasonably priced. Nice sized clean spa area with plenty of beds around the pool to relax after a swim or sauna. Robes and slippers supplied and towells in plentiful supply. .

The setting was beautiful and the garden walks were wonderful. The staff was very helpful when we had a question. Although they didn't seem to know much about the outlying areas for day trips.

Excellent facililties which included swimming pool and spa. The grounds were lovely and included a history of the site. Well worth walking round. Room did not have tea/coffee making facilities. Were told that we would have to pay £4.95 each if we wanted beverages in room, although they did bring a kettle and tray in the end. Curtains had seen better days. Gave us the bill which had 4 phone calls that we had not made. When we questioned this the staff removed them from the bill. Hotel were not made aware that we required an extra bed in the room which booking.com had added to our invoice at time of booking.

We were very well treated while taking a needed break. Our room was spotless and the staff very attentive and friendly. The view at breakfast is seriously engaging. A surprisingly pleasant break for a last minute decision. We would definitely return to be pampered. I dont know how it might be during weddings though... I thought for a large hotel this was very well run and clean. No complaints really. I did have a nice room though. That's saying alot from someone who travels quite a bit. The central heat droned a bit, but I still slept like a log.

Excellent location, attentive and adaptable staff, fascinating internal 'baronial' rooms and external architecture, superb views from the south facing rooms. Being offered a room at normal (expensive prices) that faced within 3 metres a solid plywood fence (looked like concrete) and having to wrestle with Reception for another room even then for which we were charged a further £25. (Room 125 is the culprit - and a couple either side.) Reception and management should be ashamed of themselves.

Very comfortable surroundings with very professional and courteous staff. No coffee or tea making facilities in my room. Fire alarm went off at 2am. Had an apology but did not sleep for the rest of the night so the hotel stay was wasted money for that night.

The beautiful gardens and general nature of the house. Somehow things didn't live up to expectations. The hotel puts across a level of quality it doesn't really have.
