Location in centre of town, excellent staff at reception. Hotel could do with a refurb — windows and carpets — but overall you get what you pay for.

Cosy large room, staff extremely friendly and helpful, dont judge this hotel by the negative comments, its not 5 star luxury ( but your not paying 5 star prices),however it is great value for what you pay, would definately stay again

Nice decor in reception restaurant and first floor, fab ballroom. Under hotel parking no charge very handy. Cheap. Clean bedding. After the first floor the decor was old and tired, our room was on the third floor miles away even though hotel only half full. Dated furniture and fixtures, ropey shower all needs updating. Expensive in bar and not fully stocked and reception guy doubled as barman. Bar completely empty as restaurant. Could be great but wasnt last saturday night!

It is very difficult to get to the hotel and clearer driving directions would be an advantage also the entrance to the car park was closed and we had to get the chap on reception to open the exit gates so we could get in, if I had been on my own this would have been very difficult. The staff were quite brusque in their manner. There were no instructions on how to use the telephone in the bedroom and no infornation on times of meals. The bedroom was clean and quite comfortable with lovely sheets and towels and plenty of hot water for baths etc.

The staff has been extremely helpful, nice, and very collaborative. I've rarely seen such nice people in Hotels! The hotel is 5-10 minutes walk from railway station, and perfect in the center of the town. Excellent.

The bed linnen was clean but the beds were small & hard. The bathroom was very dated & basic, the taps didn,t work when the sink emptied water came up in the bath. When taking a shower the bath filled up without the plug in.There was only one bath towel & one hand towel for two men in a twin room.We were in a hurry to catch a train and the receptionist was busy on the phone, otherwise I would have made these points known, and asked for a refund.

Being centrally located it was well located for all transport routes. The tv signal was weak. There was no free wifi. The shower unit was not maintained so only ran under low pressure and at a slow trickle.

Central traditional, known from before. Relaxes atmosphere. Parking advertised but not available until complaint made. Shabby. Paper ordered but not delivered. No service in restaurant, had to find staff. A real shame for an old stalwart of the town.
