Over 400 years old, this listed barn had been carefully restored and sensitively renovated to offer modern facilities while still retaining its original charm and beautiful period features.

Set with in 32 acres of picturesque countryside, this family-run hotel offers a perfect venue for wedding receptions and other functions. Take a break from a business seminar or team building exercise with lake and river fishing. The beautiful tranquil setting and comfortable accommodation make the barn a great choice for a relaxing break or as a peaceful venue for a business event.

Dark Barn Lodge offers state-of-the-art conference facilities and can cater for up to 100 people. There are extensive leisure facilities, a snack bar and lounge. Evening meals are available if pre-booked.

There is ample, private flood-lit parking available for guests’ use, free of charge.

The 3 Rs Beauty Salon: Relax, Refresh & Rejuvenate, is set to open in January 2009. Advance appointments are necessary.

The Dark Barn Lodge Bed & Breakfast has 18 Ensuite Rooms with use of onsite facilities during normal opening hours (please enquire of opening hours so as not to be disappointed)

Facilities include a fully-equipped gym, pool, jacuzzi, steam room and new power plate fitness machine. Restrictions apply at weekends.

Evening meals can be catered for if booked 48 hours in advance. Service is Monday to Friday between 17:30 and 19:00. Please call to request a 2-course menu, and book your meal.

Room information

Each en suite bedroom offers a selection of convenient facilities. There is internet access in some of the rooms.

One cottage is completely self-contained and can accommodate up to 6 people comfortably, with the use of the double sofa bed. There is a TV in the lounge area and full kitchen facilities.

A bridal suite is also available.

Towels are supplied in your room, however, please note that these are not for use by the pool. You can, however, loan extra towels for use in the pool area at an additional cost. Alternatively, you can bring your own towel for pool usage.

Area information

The Dark Barn Lodge is surrounded by beautiful English countryside and the River Leaden is just a short walk from the accommodation. The river is great for the walkers in the family, who can stroll along its banks and look out for wildlife.

The location also offers easy access to all of Gloucestershire’s many glorious attractions. Whether you enjoy visiting cathedrals and churches or historical towns, such as Newent, Ledbury and Tewksbury, there is something to suit all tastes and ages. You can also enjoy the wildlife and countryside of the Forest of Dean, which is situated just 18 miles (30 km) from the lodge. The forest has plenty of amenities and regularly hosts special events. The forest is home to several art and sculpture trails; walks; a Go Ape high-wire adventure course; cycling trails; horse riding paths; and much more.

Travel information

From Gloucester:
- Take the A40 for Ross on Wye.
- Turn right onto the B4215 for Newent.
- On entering the village of Rudford, continue past the Tibberton/Taynton turning and turn right at the brown and white sign for the gymnasium and Dark Barn.

- There is free parking at the hotel.

Payments under GBP 250 made by credit card will be charged GBP 1 per transaction. Payments over GBP 250 will be charged 1.5% of the total cost. No charge applies to debit cards. American Express cards are not accepted.

Bookings made after 72 hours prior to check-in will be charged in full at the time of booking. Your breakfast details and an estimated time of arrival are required at the time of booking. These can be added in the special requests box.
