The location is excellent, only a few minutes walk from Paddington. It has recently been very nicely redecorated and the staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is also very good. As usual in the area, the single room was tiny but well equipped and adequate for a short stay provided one has only a small suitcase. What spoiled the experience for me was the teacup sized washhand basin in which one could not even clean one's teeth without splashing water all over the floor. I've stayed in many hotels in this area, and have experienced tiny bathrooms or basins before, but this took the prize. Single travellers should be warned.

We found the Darlington to be a great location during our 3 nights stay in September 2011The room was fine and quiet and the breakfasts were fine. The staff were lovely assisting with online flight bookings and storing our luggage for us on the day of departure. There are some great places to eat in the area and transport via bus or train was so very close

Cannot recommend this place enough, we arrived too early to get into the room & they stored our bags. We were at Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park all day and returned about midnight to find our bags had been put in our room. The breakfast was excellent, the room large and clean with plenty of towels. A short walk to either Paddington or Edgware Road tube stations. I am partially disabled so the lift to all floors was a godsend. The staff were very friendly and helpful. All in all one of the best hotels I've stayed in around this area of London. Will definitely be back.

Chose Darlington as we wanted to have space to move around, got a suite which was nice, hard to find reasonable priced accommodation in London that is bigger than a shoebox. Suite had separate living area and bedroom. Good location within walking distance to Oxford St, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park and Harrods.

This was probably the best hotel that I have stayed at in London over the last 10 years. It was clean, modern, the staff was kind, the price was good and the full english breakfast was included. This is now my "go to" hotel for London.

Lovely big room, full bathroom with a tub and this is the only hotel I've ever stayed at that offers free complimentary water in the room's mini-fridge. Breakfast is decent and the location is great for getting to Heathrow via the Heathrow Express at Paddington, or for shopping on Oxford Street. We arrived too early for our room to be ready so left our luggage and went out. I was delighted that the staff had put our bags in our room on our return. No complaints at all - I had a very nice stay.

Searching a hotel as a first time traveller to London, me and my friends relied a lot on other people's reviews of their experience. We wanted a "value for money", safe and centraly located hotel and the Darlington seemed to match most of our requirements based on the reviews. Well, the truth is... It exceeded our expectations. From the very beginning the whole experience was very positive. The staff was prompt and very helpful in answering our queries of how to get there from Gatwick. It was a piece of cake by the way, Gatwick express to Victoria and then the Circle line to Paddington, from there the hotel is just a breath away. The street is lovely and so British, quiet and safe yet just about 20 min. Away on foot from Oxford, Hyde Park, Notting Hill. Can you imagine anything better? The room was on the second floor, facing the beautiful English street. It was cosy, clean, very quiet and with the softests sheets I have ever slept on. At breakfast you could choose pastries, bread, jams, honey, cheese, yoghurt, cereals, fruit, eggs, bacon, mushrooms, sausages ... all of the above or any combination you liked. The only negative note was that the WiFi signal was weak and we could only connect when in the reception. Yet, it came quite handy when we wanted to add a luggage in our flight booking and print our boarding passes - the girl in the reception was very helpful. She also booked our taxi to Victoria on the way back, we left at 4 in the morning and hesitated in taking the metro. The taxi cost 15 pounds. One last note... The area was full of hotels. The Darlington was discreet but you could tell the difference in quality. We would wholeheartedly recomment it to anyone.

We quite enjoyed our stay at the Darlington. The staff was always pleasant and helpful. The room, though fairly small was clean and comfortable. The location was excellent, being close to Paddington and the tube station. It certainly made for an easy journey from Heathrow to the hotel, which was important to us after flying for nine hours. I would recommend the Darlington to anyone looking for a nice stay in London. The only drawback to the Darlington that I can think of was the limited Wifi access. We were on the fourth floor and had to wander down to the lobby to use our IPad.

Well positioned in Paddington and close to rail connections. Well appointed and developed hotel. Beaking in a romm positioned outside the main foyer door. Kept banging throughout the night as people came and went from the hotel. But by the second night we got used to it.

Breakfast was great. The hotel was very clean and cosy. Close to Paddington station and close to pick up points for bus trips. Loved the fact that they had a washer and dryer for use. Highly recommended, definately a little pricey for backpackers. Liked that we could open the window for fresh air. The fact that the air conditioning in individual rooms was not included and was quite pricey. However the window being able to be opened, eliviated the need for an airconditioner. (Spring, summer)

Very close to Heathrow express , easy access to centtral shopping areas in West End, many restaurants, cafes and super markets in close range. As this is a b&b the prices are high, but then, this is London...

Bathroom was smelling humidity, breakfast was not very good as I expected, they have to think about customers who don't eat pork. Fresh tomato, more kind of cheese will be good.

The friendlyness and competance of all the staff that we dealt with. It was conveniently located, well equipped, clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were good and adequate. Value for money. We booked a double bed but on arrival was offered a twin room; the only available double was v. small. It seemed impossible to cool the room sufficiently (yes, we did turn the thermostat right down!) without opening the windows and permitting the constant traffic & ambulance siren noise.

The hotel had a good reputation the room was a good size, it was clean and the best was having the breakfast included. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful and it was well located for the tube, shopping, walking and restaurants. The room was very warm and the traffic quite noisy, however, the weather wa unseasonably hot.

Friendly staff, excellent breakfast, they kept all my luggage after check out. The room was clean and there were little details that make difference: bottle of water, shampoo, shower gel and clean towels. Highly recommended!

Lovely little hotel literally just around the corner from Paddington station, which makes it a perfect base for a city/business trip. Very attentive, friendly, competent and cheerful staff--which, from personal experience, is anything but the norm with hotels in the area. Of course my single room was small and basic, that is to be expected in London, but unlike in other hotels the room was not tiny and depressing. Rooms and facilities are kept shipshape and impeccably clean. Don't let any reviews by people with exagerrated expectations tell you otherwise: This hotel is a pearl, and I'll gladly return there.

The location is almost perfect. Very close to the Paddington station, from which I needed to go the Heathrow, and very close to the Hyde Park and Oxford Str. On which I could shop. Both within the distance on food.

At last I have found a clean, friendly, reasonably priced hotel close to Paddington Station. The room was small, but not as small as many others in London, the lift worked, the hotel was spotlessly clean and the breakfast was the best i've had in this kind of hotel. Fresh cooked English breakfast. Must be almost unique. Will definitely stay here again and am recommending it to friends Nothing
