Everything was exellent!
Nothing but the weather...
The room we booked was not available we were given 2 rooms next to each other not very good with a young family.
Great welcome by Staff at Reception. Large room. Very clean, comfortable and well furnished. En suite, spacious, bright and exceptionally clean. Handy fan very welcome in the hot weather. A great choice of breakfasts served by efficient and smiling, helpful staff. Breakfast room, bright and welcoming. A relaxing place to stay. Very conveniently situated. Within walking distance of many eating places catering for all tastes and very reasonably priced. Paddington Station and Paddington Underground Station less than 5 minutes away. Great as Circle Line takes you to main museums. A short walk to Hyde Park. After checking out, stored our cases safely so we could do more sightseeing. Will be staying at The Darlington Hyde Park Hotel when we next visit London. Highly recommended.
We found no fault with The Darlington Hyde Park Hotel.
Large, airy room. Tall ceilings. Big, floor-length windows, facing onto street (rather than a back yard or brick wall!). Efficient staff. Clean. Great to have a bath too. (So many rooms don't have them these days....) Fast service at breakfast. Secure entry.
We had a quad room downstairs. It was comfortable and clean. The location is outstanding - easy walk to Paddington Station.
The room had air-conditioning, but it costs extra (I wasn't aware of that ahead of time). The staff would not print out a boarding pass for us, so we had to scramble to find an Internet cafe.
Everything was lovely - but no air con in the room, even on a mild day the room was a bit warm.
Staff,service. Value,location tops
Hazard at the entrance with step requiring highlighting
The best part was the convenience of location to the tube, Paddington station with the Heathrow express and quick tube ride to Kings Cross train station. I also walked down to the center of London and it was very close to a number of places to go and see. Very good breakfast was included.
Great location and very friendly staff especially at the breakfast restaurant. Room was spotless with v clean small bathroom. Also the wifi service was v good.
Our room 108 was on the ground floor quiet and with reasonable size but was overlooking nothing .. though we requested a room with a view at the time of booking, this room was overlooking the basement of the hotel and some windows of other rooms !! For such a room with basic breakfast I believe the hotel is overpriced.
Exceptional staff at this establishment. Both in reception and at breakfast restaurant. Staff went above and beyond their duty. Great breakfast to get you going for the day. Room was pokey with and very small bathroom, but did the job for a couple of nights. Don't expect to check in before 2pm. Laundry available. Excellent position, walking distance to hop on hop off buses, stations, shops and restaurants.
Creaky floor. Foot noise from upstairs room.
Quiet Close to station
Step at front door Room was very hot but there was a fan. Perhaps air con would be better
Cleanliness Comfortable beds Location Size of quadruple room Free wifi Made to order breakfast
Continental breakfast variety
We loved the location, staff, breakfast, cleanliness,
On our first visit 5/7/14 (one night) we were very satisfied but on returning on 2 to3/8/14 we found our room very, very small to the extent there was no room to unpack/pack - we asked if we could put the chair into the hallway. We would return but would not accept a similar room. In view of the fact we booked 4/5 months ahead we were disappointed.
The convenient location.
The WIFI set up is very poor. It is complicated and inefficient and frustrating. It wasted a lot of my time and is by far the worst of the dozens of WIFI facilities I used at other hotels and B & B facilities.
Easy 2 block walk from Paddington Station Nice staff Twin bed room was decently-sized with completely separate bathroom area, good for 2 friends traveling together. Good internet access I didn't have breakfast but it looked good.
My pillow was very hard!
My daughter and I stayed at the Darlington for 9 days in July/August 2014. The hotel was centrally located close to many restaurants and within 10 minutes walking distance of Paddington Station. Also close to bus stops. Many taxis drive by so hailing a cab was easy. The hotel is situated on an attractive tree lined street with smaller boutique hotels lining both sides of the street. The brownstone feel of the area (although buildings are white) was charming for my daughter and I. As a woman traveling with a teenage daughter, I liked that there were people in nearby hotels and we did not feel isolated. Yet at the same time, it felt as if we were in a residential area. The breakfast was nice and we could choose between either a full English breakfast, continental or both. The breakfast buffet was not large with minimal choices and that was a bit of a disappointment (compared to the amazing breakfast buffets we had in Switzerland) but the English breakfast was very nice. The hotel was clean and very charming and the staff was helpful. Several days we left the room late and still our room was cleaned when we got back. If you plan on using the public transportation this hotel is ideally situated. It is about a 5 to 10 minute walk to Paddington Station. Paddington is a very large train station and although we took only the underground/buses they had surface trains and it seemed that you would be able to connect to almost anywhere you might want to go. Many shops and eateries in Paddington as well. There is an Express Train to Heathrow if one chooses. We took a taxi because there was only a small difference between the cost of a taxi (which we prearranged with our hotel) and the Heathrow Express for the two of us. Hauling our luggage to Paddington and then dealing with it on the train was worth the few extra pounds the taxi cost. (I think the difference was about 3 pounds).
There was no AC. However, there were large windows and a fan provided so we did not feel hot. Would have preferred AC. Our room was on the front of the hotel. When the windows were open it was very noisy due to the traffic. I used earplugs and it was not a problem and it quiets down late night to early morning. Pillows are foam and rather firm. I brought my own pillow so was not much of an issue.
Location was perfect for us, only a short walk from Paddington station. Having stayed in many hotels in the same area The Darlington Hyde Park was by far the best and I will definitely return.
Air conditioning would have been nice although fans were provided.
spacious room good breakfast
location, staff, breakfast, shower
very small rooms
We had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Darlington as it was conveniently located to all London attractions. Staff were friendly and the rooms were clean and spacious. A full English breakfast was included plus free wifi. Will definitely recommend this hotel.
Great location near Paddington Station. Room small but comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. Good English breakfast offered.
Would have liked a better selection of fruit at breakfast.
staff very friendly and helpful
room very close to an extractor fan which was very noisy,so couldn't sleep and it was extremely hot in the room
Staff were very nice and helpful, the location was good, 5 min walk from Paddington Train Station and tube.
There was no air conditioning in the room and the room was very small.
Handy location near Paddington station Pleasant room Good beakfast
Not cheap but ok by the rip-off standards of London hotels
