On the edge of the Dartmoor National Park just outside the village of Buckfastleigh, Kilbury Manor offers bed and breakfast accommodation set in 4 acres of gardens.
Score from 72 reviews Superb
First rate staff - throughout. Immaculate room and wonderful gardens with all sorts of helpful notices, I was once Director of RHS Rosemoor - how you manage with 4 1/2 Gardeners must be the envy of the RHS!
The two dinners we had were very well presented and served but the quality of the food did not match the price. Booking is a confused jumble of multiple agencies - would much prefer to be able to book with the hotel direct.
Impressively restored ancient buildings, fascinating recent history, comfortable accommodation, good food and excellent service.
Nowhere to sit comfortable in the Bar . Arrived late eve very confusing to find reception in the dark.
Lovely location and lovely staff. We were going to do the River Dart 10km swim, hence lack of sleep! Enjoyed the grounds.
Not having a bath. Room very small but comfortable.
The setting was beautiful. The bathroom was clean and a great shower. The staff were fine but didn't feel that welcome, felt a bit too corporate
The room felt very cramped the bed was immediately by the door and fairly narrow. Felt that the price was rather high for the amount of space. Sign posting within the grounds could have been clearer.
The welcome,atmosphere,bathroom,bed and the breakfast
The room was stunning with views over the courtyard. The location was superb and staff were very good.
The white hart was lacking slightly in atmosphere however the food and Staff were excellent.
An excellent setting. Very peaceful. Lovely grounds, ideal for photos.
Car park at a distance away.
Beautiful gardens. Accommodation.
Better lighting for reading in bed.
Staying in the Courtyard. Early am access to gardens, and especially access to gardens free whether staying or passing through.Breakfast first class. Parking permit lasting for the rest of the day on checking out day.
Extremely sorry to see the Monterey Pine felled, although I did read about the wood was recycled.
Located in a medieval castle estate . Property had everything required for an enjoyable stay. Great rooms , excellent food whatever part of the day . Great walks ,supportive staff . Amazing gardens
The comfort of our suite and the relaxing atmosphere of the hall, the gardens and the sociability of the staff.
Clean,comfortable,great setting good staff
Car park location
We just stayed one night in a deluxe room, room was large and very clean, had a meal in the White Hart and although a bit pricey it was excellent.
Really good beds On site bar
Photos on web are misleading - rooms look very spacious but not all are, so beware.
loved it. a one off night. beautiful suite and lovely gardens. food very good, just had what was on the list.
for £179 for the night, you would think they could turn the heating on!
Rooms were not huge but have high quality finishing and timeless decoration. Buildings and surrounding park are magnificent, breathing old British grandeur. Great place to relax in style and forget about the rest of the world (must add that the weather was great when we were there).
Breakfast is good but restaurant in the evening was not great (sunday evening)
Dining area needs attention
The setting was lovely, the gardens amazing and the food excellent.
The single room was very small and the bedding had to be pushed back in order to open the door!
The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The Bathroom looked brand new and as if it had never been used. The breakfast was buffet style with a good selection of hot and cold food, plenty of coffee and tea available as well as as much toast as we wanted, the bread was amazing!!!. great selection of food. The grounds were wonderful a great place to relax and enjoy. We really enjoyed our stay and would go back again for a longer vacation next time.
The office was a little difficult to find for check in, no lifts so be prepared to carry your suitcases up the stairs. House keeping needs to be a little more attentive they need to make sure they replace shampoos and towels etc on a daily basis and someone should show them how to make a bed. Nothing really major just a few things that they need to look at.
I loved the tranquillity & setting of this venue (only recently turned into an Hotel). The courtyard accommodation apparently used to be the lecturer's accommodation. And how many hotels have their own cinema for you to enjoy 2014 movies...
I had literally zero wifi connection... my phone and laptop could see there was wifi, but the signal was too poor to connect... very poor for any hotel in 2014
Staff - all of them were lovely, helpful and very smiley! I honestly felt that nothing was too much trouble!
windows that didn't open when it was hot in the room. Some random noise that was clearly mechanical by it's sound and the fact it was very regular when it happened.
The setting is beautiful.
The breakfast buffet was disappointing.
All of it
