Sea Trout Inn is a traditional inn with an atrium restaurant. It dates from the 15th century and is in the beautiful Dart Valley near Totnes.
Score from 44 reviews Wonderful
In the center of beautiful Totnes, this charming hotel was once a 17th-century inn and now offers attractive accommodations, free Wi-Fi and free parking.
Score from 185 reviews Excellent
The location is beautiful and incredibly relaxing. The rooms are very comfortable. We stayed in the modernly furnished East Wing but had the option of the more historically furnished West Wing if we wanted. The staff were very nice, especially the housekeepers Roseanne and Roy who were incredibly helpful.
The only downside was that the pub the White Hart seemed to be overpriced, which was a shame as it would have been lovely to be able to eat on site more often.
Chilled atmosphere Space Freedom Stunning location
Shower curtains in bathrooms need replacing
breakfast not hot toast cold waiting for some items hence food on plate cold.
Beautiful building and stunning gardens. Great dinner in the pub.
Breakfast was a bit like being in a youth hostel. Although available food was hot and tasty.
The gardens. The setting. Came to fetch daughter from RAD summer school. She loved the place having stayed for the week.
Ambience Breakfast Staff
Dinner Menu was pretentious and less than adequate
Receptionist was bery welcoming, showed us to our lovely room and gave us all the details re The White Hart Bar & Restaurant for lunch & breakfast the next morning. Told us about the films being shown that week and attractions in Totnes & surrounding area. Great!
The quiet, peaceful gardens, friendly staff, good food, the general location and great local pubs eg: The Cott
Beautiful, peaceful setting, every detail tasteful,
Exceptionally peaceful atmosphere and beautiful gardens.
Lots of staircases, fire doors and hall ways to navigate with a suitcase if on top floor. Could ask for help though which I didn't. Hallways dated but room modern and comfortable.
Once you enter the grounds it is like entering another world full of calm and beauty. Food and accommodation are great.
It can be a bit hard to find reception due to limited signage.
amazing building, beautiful garden and surrounding area, very quite (had good sleep), friendly staff, clean room, good water pressure (nice shower),
would be nice to have a small fridge in a room. Breakfast was ok but shortage of staff means slow service and dirty dishes on the table from previous dinners. As there was no corner shop in the area, would be good to have a shop inside of the hall selling snacks, beer and so on.
grounds location price
our room was a bit small but that was because it was one of the last rooms available.
Setting and price
The setting was super.
Did not feel special. It was a little like staying in a University Hall.
Again good food, staff, relaxing.
Restaurant good Gardens excellent Bar great separate room for tea/coffee from main bedroom Bathroom excellent Close to great walks by the river dart Really different ti your typical B&B Excellent value for money.
slightly small room
tranquillity and supurb setting
Evening noise from outdoor cinema very close to accomondation
Beautiful location and grounds, very peaceful.
This hotel is in a splendid location. Calm and relaxing atmosphere. The garden is elegant and graceful. Breakfast is a various kinds of food. Staffs are friendly and nice.
I have absolutely no complaints.
Absolutely stunning place to visit. We read the reviews before travelling and saw some negative comments. I'm happy to say these comments were not a true reflection. Beautiful room and surrounding. Definitely visit again.
The historic setting with the cultural and academic overlay. The very peaceful environment. The proximity to other places of interest and the very good room we had.
The restaurant did not prioritise resident guests meaning we had to eat out on the first evening - which was not a big deal but when registering, it would have been sensible to ask so we were able to book in if we wished - because the food was very good!
Sam at the front desk was so very helpful. We enjoyed our room and the White Hart Restaurant very much. Thank you, Margaret
The only concern was housekeeping. They only had time to spend about five minutes straightening up our room and did not leave daily soap.
