everyone was extremely helpful food was excellent rooms a good standard clean comfortable and spacious shall return.
Location to Ashburton, also the beautiful countryside.
The hotel is very well placed for Dartmoor visits and has a large and secure car park. The staff were friendly and helpful. Dinner was enjoyable and the "real"Steak Pie is HIGHLY recommended.
Some noise from building works in other rooms of the hotel but this stopped when brought to the attention of the staff.
Everything about this holiday break in October went extremely well .comfort ,good food ,very helpful staff. Even the weather obliged. The four poster upgrade .
Having to depart.
Staff were all very helpful and pleasant. Food was excellent, we needed to stay longer than three nights to appreciate the menu to the full. Hotel is a short distance off the A38 so very easy to get to. Easy access to the Moors, Buckfast and the steam railway, also to Ashburton
My wife said the beds were too firm and couldn't sllep well. We both thought the rooms sad, but I guess that equattes to the price per room.
Comfort of the room. Helpfulness and Friendliness of the staff Good base of the edge of Dartmoor
Easy to find parking
Old fashioned decor of public areas and rooms Breakfast isn't served early enough for business travellers Difficult to find the hotel when arriving late at night Not value for money
The Friday night carvery
The wedding guests running amok until 2.30am. Zero sound proofing Motel like accommodation
Very friendly & helpful staff.
Consideration & friendliness of staff. Comfort of bed. Quietness. Generous in room drink making facility. Food (breakfast). Convenient location.
Small TV. Restricted channels (no Sky reception).
Most obliging and curtious staff and excellent food .
Nothing to dislike.
Easy access, good dining space and service, pleasant staff.
No lift to the bedroom for those with bad knees!
Friendliness, food and comfort
No play area for the children
As there was a wedding on, we were given a lovely bedroom away from the bar area for quietness.
Our guys with learning difficulties were treated well. Good breakfast. Nice rooms. Dog friendly. Excellent staff
Could use a wider menu choice and more activities but that's my only thing
Friendliness of everyone, and helpfulness of staff. Food generally good quality, furniture outside of reception nice, and the outdoor furniture is a very good touch, also tea and coffee facilities in the room.
Although major improvements have taken place, I still think the room furniture needs updating badly, the front of our dressing table was very damaged on front and all of the handles fell of ever time we used the drawers, ok they only screw back on but it was annoying, and the decor in the annex corridor and carpet was scruffy, as I say big improvements have been made, just being honest.
Love to come back again. Well managed.
The staff were all very friendy, excellent service, fantastic meals (ate in the restaurant every night they were that good) excellent range of meals good breakfast menu. Some rooms have yet to be refurbished by the current owners, but they are perfectly adequate and clean. Our two dogs especially liked the friendy waiters and waitresses (mainly due to the scooby snacks they were given at every meal). We wouldnt hesitate to use this hotel again.
The only slight issue was the lack of a dog walking area at or near the hotel, but a short drive gave us plently of options.
Friendly Staff - especially Tom! Dogs allowed in bar area Clean room Excellent location for Moors
The food, staff, service and room was brilliant! Pity it was only for one night, but will definitely stay again!
The only problem we had was with the pillows! We much prefer the feather pillows! Otherwise brilliant!
Location was perfect for us as we had spent the day on the steam railway 10 minutes drive away, the staff were all lovely and friendly, food was good quality, breakfast buffet style was fresh and plentiful, beds were comfy and room was nice and cool on a hot evening, the only thing we could comment on was no wifi in the room, but there was in the bar, so perfect excuse for another beer !!
Friendly staff, spotlessly clean, comfortae bed, cramped but efficient shower
Indifferent food, not open 24 hours
Great breakfast, very clean comfortable room.
The 1st impression at reception was grubby & in kept - really needs decorating :(
We were a group of 8, including two pre-school girls, and found that all staff were very accommodating to our varied needs and dealt with any requests promptly. Food was well presented and interesting, with a good range of vegetarian dishes - as well as the popular curry and carvery nights. We also found that as food and drinks were available for most of the day and into the evening, we were not tied to very specific times for meals.
