Score from 106 reviews Wonderful
Consideration & friendliness of staff. Comfort of bed. Quietness. Generous in room drink making facility. Food (breakfast). Convenient location.
Small TV. Restricted channels (no Sky reception).
Most obliging and curtious staff and excellent food .
Nothing to dislike.
Easy access, good dining space and service, pleasant staff.
No lift to the bedroom for those with bad knees!
Friendliness, food and comfort
No play area for the children
As there was a wedding on, we were given a lovely bedroom away from the bar area for quietness.
Our guys with learning difficulties were treated well. Good breakfast. Nice rooms. Dog friendly. Excellent staff
Could use a wider menu choice and more activities but that's my only thing
Love to come back again. Well managed.
The staff were all very friendy, excellent service, fantastic meals (ate in the restaurant every night they were that good) excellent range of meals good breakfast menu. Some rooms have yet to be refurbished by the current owners, but they are perfectly adequate and clean. Our two dogs especially liked the friendy waiters and waitresses (mainly due to the scooby snacks they were given at every meal). We wouldnt hesitate to use this hotel again.
The only slight issue was the lack of a dog walking area at or near the hotel, but a short drive gave us plently of options.
Friendly Staff - especially Tom! Dogs allowed in bar area Clean room Excellent location for Moors
The food, staff, service and room was brilliant! Pity it was only for one night, but will definitely stay again!
The only problem we had was with the pillows! We much prefer the feather pillows! Otherwise brilliant!
Location was perfect for us as we had spent the day on the steam railway 10 minutes drive away, the staff were all lovely and friendly, food was good quality, breakfast buffet style was fresh and plentiful, beds were comfy and room was nice and cool on a hot evening, the only thing we could comment on was no wifi in the room, but there was in the bar, so perfect excuse for another beer !!
Friendly staff, spotlessly clean, comfortae bed, cramped but efficient shower
Indifferent food, not open 24 hours
Great breakfast, very clean comfortable room.
The 1st impression at reception was grubby & in kept - really needs decorating :(
We were a group of 8, including two pre-school girls, and found that all staff were very accommodating to our varied needs and dealt with any requests promptly. Food was well presented and interesting, with a good range of vegetarian dishes - as well as the popular curry and carvery nights. We also found that as food and drinks were available for most of the day and into the evening, we were not tied to very specific times for meals.
Location, comfort and friendliness of staff.
Very friendly staff
Facilities are a little old but still ok.
Comfy beds. Nice food.
Wanted a later breakfast. Noise from rooms upstairs
The hotel has been refurbished to a good standard and many changes have been made to the running of it. I found everyone very friendly and the breakfast was really excellent. Nothing was too much trouble.
Not really a dislike more a comment. The hotel is basically in two parts. The main building and the annex. The main building is a little nicer than the annex and despite staying on several occasions I always seem to end up in the annex.
suitable location for me - near an event at Buckfast Abbey.
The hotel seemed more geared up to large dining groups and weddings. I felt that the staff were not really interested in a single person staying only one night and saw it as rather a nuisance.
Comfortable beds, very clean room, decent breakfast, plenty of parking, quiet location. There was a wedding with disco on the Saturday night but we were contacted to inform us of this prior to our stay and, although we were prepared for it, the noise did not cause any discomfort at all - even to our 3 year old.
There was nothing really negative. A couple of small points: shower curtains are a bit dated and uncomfortable as they stick to you while showering - a screen is much preferable and the hairdryer wasn't brilliant. Hard to find anything significantly poor.
Proximity to where I was going. Clean. Helpfulness of staff when I left something behind. Breakfast was good.
No wi-fi in the room. Lack of toiletries in the bathroom.
after booking we realised we couldnot go until the day after originally planned, we phoned to let them know and were told we would still have to pay for the missed night, however on checking in we were informed they had managed to sell our first night so we were not charged, excellent customer service.
Helpful staff. Cost of room
Evening meal seemed a bit expensive for what it was.
The food!!! Real value for money. The location was perfect for our stay and definitely would recommend people to stay. Staff were extremely welcoming.
I felt the decor of the hotel and rooms were a bit dated and in need of refurbishment. The bed in our room was far too low so perhaps think of upgrading the furniture too.
Very friendly welcoming staff ,easy to find location comfortable room
Dated interior , rather dark , breakfast not very well presented , watery eggs, undercooked sausages
