Situated down quite a dark country road, meaning we had to be on our guard to find the entrance of the car park each time. Nothing in easy walking distance. The bar was closed on Saturday evening, the bell on the front desk did not summons anyone on that night (and it was a little costly with a limited choice),no food was available, not even crisps or nuts at the weekend, although we were only a short drive from a variety of facilities. My partner was a little daunted by the number of stairs, bearing in mind though that it is quite an old building, and there are no bedrooms on the ground floor, we were put on the next floor up however. We hardly saw any of the other guests so it was a little lacking in atmosphere.
The staff were very helpful indeed, they bent over backwards to make us feel welcome, and accommodated our need to have an earlier breakfast, which was a very good quality one. The Hotel was suitably located for the sports event that we were going to over the weekend. The free Wi-Fi worked without hitch, and was a thoughtful extra. The TV worked perfectly, and the radio/alarm was a really useful item in the room. Parking was also adequate and free.
