Cleanliness of room

The warm friendly atmosphere with pleasant staff who make you feel welcome especially in the dining room. The hotel is slowly being refurbished but my room was warm and comfortable - more than satisfactory for an overnight stay. Will be booking there again

The tv was set with 5 standard channels which had poor quality. A funny smell travelled down to room when upstairs flushed their toilet.

Although the check in was not until 1500 they allowed me into my room at 1100 as I was attending a funeral and wake. Due to unforeseen circumstances I did not require the 2nd night and although it was way past the cancellation point, they did not charge me for the cancellation.In the evening, I sat chatting to the owner (John) a Portugese gentleman, and he bought me a couple of drinks< which I thought was very kind of him. The other staff, including the room maid, (Esther) were very polite & attentive. Top marks from me.

Only 1 small niggle, and that was the hot water in the room was only tepid. However, that can be said for a lot of hotels. Either too hot, or too cold.

The location was great for what I needed, the room was perfectly fine for one night - very clean, with everything I needed. The food was excellent (dinner and breakfast), the staff were very attentive and helpful, and the price was extremely reasonable.

As virtually everybody else has said, it's an old building in need of money spending on it. I'm not sure how easy it would be to fix creaking floorboards, but there is a lot that could be done very cheaply in the way of minor maintenance (wardrobe handles coming loose, sticking doors, etc.). At midnight there was no hot water in the wash basin.

Friendly staff, comfortable beds. It served our purposes as we were spending most of our time at my parents house.

Our room on 2nd floor needed decorating and the bathroom was very shabby but functional. Someone screamed repeatedly one night but the hotel was apologetic about that.

I arranged late arrival which was no problem, nice reception from gentleman on reception. Good hearty breakfast on Sunday morning and lady got Mail on Sunday for me. As I was not leaving until 2.30pm the lady on Reception suggested I waited in nice quiet lounge to read paper.

Very friendly staff

The staff went out of there way for you, but our room was too noisy at the front of the hotel with the busy road, the room was hot and the bathroom had no curtain or blinds on it, so anyone could see you from the outside. Bed uncomfatable.

It was good value for the price we paid, staff were helpful, the breakfast was good and it was warm, overall, happy enough.

Greeted by name by the receptionist. Fabulous large shower. Great breakfast. All the staff were helpful and very friendly. Room was clean and spacious.

The corridor was a little shabby as was the decor.

The location was very good. The hotel is very tired, dated and in need of a major overall. the staff are very helpful and friendly. It suited our requirements for one the one night and the price included a cooked breakfast...
