An extremely well run hotel with friendly helpful staff.
As the hotel is next to the main road there was some traffic noise during the night that I am not used to living on a quiet cul-de-sac.
Quiet location Friendly staff Good breakfast
Lighting in the room needs updating
The staff were very accommodating as my inital room was extremely dark and gloomy and so I changed to a different room. The dining room was nicely decorated. The bed was clean as was the bathroom.
However, the next single room that I was given was already booked for the Sunday night (I was booked in for the Sat/Sun nights). The TV was extremely high up on the wall which would give you a crick in the neck watching it. It didn't work anyway and was an old fashioned heavy one. (Health and Safety implications here if it had fallen off the stand). Therefore, I was given a double room at no extra cost which I thought was very fair minded. It had a louvre door to the bathroom which I didn't think was very practicable. This door stuck and was difficult to close. I don't know if there was a rubber undersheet but even with just the duvet cover without the duvet, it was still uncomfortably hot in the night and so I couldn't sleep properly. The hotel needs redecorating. It also needs a lift for people with physical impairments. The water from the drinks dispenser wasn't boiling hot which is what is required for making tea. I don't like carvery breakfasts as often the food has been there for some time and consequently isn't piping hot. In addition, I like saugsages/bacon to be so well done as to be well browned on all sides. I ordered a chicken curry on Saturday night as part of the part board deal. The chef cooks fresh to order but really the meat was chewy and could have done with being cooked for a bit longer.
rooms were of ok size and it was clean
the bed was lumpy it could have done with a mattress topper on and the tv was positioned on a dressing table instead of being wall mounted you could not watch tv properly without having a stiff neck
the staff where friendly, and the breakfast was ok.
the shower was not very powerful and a pain to get the water to the right temperature, the passage floor boards where very noisy and every time someone walked past the nose from the floor woke me up. the bedding was very itchy. The wall paper was falling of on parts of the walls. But i guess this is what you get for £50 a night.
fact that night porter enabled late retirement to hotel and 'locked' door to ensure safety of all guests.
no private facilities - but this was choice on booking.
Liked the Spanish manageress, she was very welcoming and friendly and helpful. The food was good and the breakfast was excellent..
Did not realise it was so close to the hospital with ambulances going back and forth at night.
Handy location and easy to find
Room smelled of old smoke
The room vibrating to a drum and bass disco disco session downstairs. And drunken yobs greeting you at entry to premises. Very intimidating Thought I had accidently booked in at a police bail hostel. ...... Never again !!!!
Room very clean, breakfast was lovely and there was plenty to eat, staff were very nice and polite and couldn't do enough to help you
The room smelt were someone had been smoking very heavy,no sleep with disco underneath us and people running and shouting along the corridor at all times of the night.
breakfast was good ,,bed was clean and comfy.
didnt like the old tired look of place would not class as a hotel..building smell old.dirty curtains place needs pulled down.will not use again..main meal food was cheap frozen stuff very dissapointed
For £60. In my opinion it was very poor value for money. The shower leaked and also no heating.
Staff wecoming. Breakfast Excellent, all freshly cooked, clean and way and above the best thing about the hotel.
The hotel obviously has been neglected. Everything needs refreshing. In Room 12 the bed linen and towels were clean, mattress comfortable but every thing else was below standard and very tired. Also there was a function with disco on til 1 a.m. so very noisy, even in the bedroom. It's a shame, the hotel has seen much better days. (£60.00 per double). We spent our second evening in the area, staying at the Didsbury Travellodge for £36.00 (no breakfast) which was far superior in cleanliness and comfort.
The staff were very polite and obliging. Very good breakfast served by a lovely Spanish waitress, she was helpful and chatty without being intrusive. Good quality towels in the room. Good overall intentions by the owners.
It was like stepping into the 70s! I get the impression this hotel has recently been taken over and it's slowly being renovated. I'm not sure if the correct priorities had been set though. It had a beautifully modern dining area but our room hadn't been touched since 1979! The bar shut at 10.45 but we were given the last chance to purchase another drink first. I think the hotel should be upgraded before opening as I think it may be damaging its own future.
Decor Creaky floor boards
Room very tired looking
Friendly staff Good food Comfortable bed Equipment worked in room
Noisy party downstairs but could still sleep.
bedside lamb did'nt work bathroom door would'nt close needed decorating curtains hanging off,
Breakfast Locality Parking Staff
The property was in disrepair in places The rook was in a poor state.
Everything else especially the music blaring untill 1.30 am
Room was clean but very tired looking, breakfast included. Plenty of car parking.
Very tried looking net curtains on the front of the hotel needed a wash which would have made the place look better.
Bed comfortable; bedding and towels spotless; breakfast ample in pleasant surroundings; on frequent bus route (192) to Stockport and Manchester.
The rooms are obviously in need of modernisation (but ours was still cosy, and even without an en suite , toilets and good showers were only a step away. The excessively high percentage of commission charged by Booking. com to a proprietor striving to make a go of a large and difficult building seems unfair......
The Location is ideal.
The Smell in upstairs of the hotel, it smelt damp. I ate breakfast there, twice. The first time I had a full breakfast. The Bacon tasted very cheap and salty. The sausages di not taste that bad. So the next day I cancelled the bacon and had an extra sausage. It was then I realised the sausage was cheep and nasty too, but I did not think they were that bad the day before because of the poor bacon. Breakfast was free with the room, but from then I went out for breakfast. Also the hotel is based on a main road the traffic noise is constant until 10 or 11pm from 6 or 7am. You can close the windows which will reduce the noise but then then smell get worse. Which do you prefer a bad smell or constant traffic noise?
staff were polite/helpfull breakfast was good down stairs was on the way to be inviting. garden was nice
door frame damaged/ door closing arm hanging off.peeling wallpaper.stains on side of drawers.picture frame cracked.springs on matress (u could feel them).cold shower late night, but fine morning.
