The reception wasn't open and no-one to let us know we're we could leave our bags, all the taxi contracts in their book were invalid numbers and one taxi company was in Essex. No one to contact if you needed help before 12 lunch time
There was a supply of extra milk and tea and coffee in the foyer to help yourself. Bedding was clean.
Bed was uncomfortable. The mattress rolled you into the middle. The bed wasn't set up for our child. The bathroom smelled badly of stale nicotine. Everything a little shabby which made it all look a little dirty.
Premises are tired and shabby. Cleanliness was poor.
A great place to base ourselves We found a gem of a restaurant 5miutes away
Location was ideal and the freedom to come and go as pleased. Suited our plans as a place to stay overnight to support the Great North Run.
Needs a bit of an overhaul, looking a bit passed its best. Would expect a bit better for the price.
Great accommodation at a good price, beds were very comfortable and staff very helpful!
Staff were polite and helpful. Ideal stop before the Great North Run.
When we came to use the shower it came out in a trickle only.
Old, needs a refurb
clean room. shower. location good.
bed moving as it was on wheels. would like to have a fridge
Christine was very welcoming and was concerned how my son would manage in the shower. He has a disability. She instructed him not to hesitate to pull the cord alarm if he had any problems at all when in his room.In fact all the staff where helpful and friendly towards us.I felt it was a safe environment at days Inn Durham.
The shower was fixed to the wall which I personally found awkward and I also found it difficult to adjust the temperature of the water. We would have preferred breakfast facilities in the hotel itself, as we had to go to the services which were rather expensive although Days Inn supplied vouchers which made a saving if you wanted to go to Costas coffee shop.
Able to accommodate the dogs on the trip
Clean bedding and towels. Help your self to extra coffee, milk etc in foyer. Great price. Good size room. Surprisingly quiet for a services inn.
A bit old and shabby. The bath room smelled of old smoke. When we mentioned it we were thanked for the info but we checked in two days later to be given the very same room and the bathroom was still as bad.
There were no toiletries provided. The shower gel by the bath was empty
Clenliness and location in relation to where we needed to be.
Slip road closed and 20 mile redirection at entrance to the hotel which I was not made aware of previously.
Couldn't get there all the roads were closed for roadworks only way to commit to my booking was by helicopter and wasn't informed of this problem by days inns then had to drive 150 miles home after a 12 hour shift because no other accomadation available
Ideal stopover on long trip. Family room was BIG compared to HInn and Travellodge. 2 twin beds in seperate section/walled off room, double bed and sofa bed in main part. Bathroom with bath and shower.
Bit tired and dated, smelt of wet dog :/ But okay for overnight stop. Petty point relating to ALL hotels we stay in (not just this one) BUT when you book a family room for 4 - why do they all only supply 2 cups in room??!!
Clean and comfortable
Beds not made up for children - booking wrong! Road closure at roundabout and diversion was badly signed - no signs! Not funny at 11.30pm in bad weather with 2 small children - had to stop and ask highway maintenance to let me pass after 45 mins extra driving!!
Website said there was an iron & ironing board in room , there was not. Kettle was plugged into a socket that did not work. No shower gel in dispenser.
The lady at reception (Patricia) was extremely helpful and had sorted me out with towels etc. very quickly.
The room that we had been allocated had been cleaned but there were no towels nor bathmat and as we arrived late I have to venture back to reception to get the missing items. The location, right next to the motorway, is very noisy throughout the night with the windows open.
Noisy people in room downstairs. Might have been a one-off but it wouldn't have happened in a more swanky place!
Good TV and wi fi in the room.
No air con, it was very warm night.
Helpfulness of staff especially the night staff as we had to arrive late after a Grandchild's 21 party
Nothing In particular. I wouldn't like the idea of animals sharing accommodation, although |I was unaware if there was any at the time we stayed
Easy to access, free parking
Didn't realise that the 'restaurant' was the motorway service station! Only McDonalds or Costa Coffee for our main evening meal and Breakfast...not exactly what I had expected.
