Christine was very welcoming and was concerned how my son would manage in the shower. He has a disability. She instructed him not to hesitate to pull the cord alarm if he had any problems at all when in his room.In fact all the staff where helpful and friendly towards us.I felt it was a safe environment at days Inn Durham.
The shower was fixed to the wall which I personally found awkward and I also found it difficult to adjust the temperature of the water. We would have preferred breakfast facilities in the hotel itself, as we had to go to the services which were rather expensive although Days Inn supplied vouchers which made a saving if you wanted to go to Costas coffee shop.
Able to accommodate the dogs on the trip
There were no toiletries provided. The shower gel by the bath was empty
Ideal stopover on long trip. Family room was BIG compared to HInn and Travellodge. 2 twin beds in seperate section/walled off room, double bed and sofa bed in main part. Bathroom with bath and shower.
Bit tired and dated, smelt of wet dog :/ But okay for overnight stop. Petty point relating to ALL hotels we stay in (not just this one) BUT when you book a family room for 4 - why do they all only supply 2 cups in room??!!
Clean and comfortable
Beds not made up for children - booking wrong! Road closure at roundabout and diversion was badly signed - no signs! Not funny at 11.30pm in bad weather with 2 small children - had to stop and ask highway maintenance to let me pass after 45 mins extra driving!!
Website said there was an iron & ironing board in room , there was not. Kettle was plugged into a socket that did not work. No shower gel in dispenser.
The lady at reception (Patricia) was extremely helpful and had sorted me out with towels etc. very quickly.
The room that we had been allocated had been cleaned but there were no towels nor bathmat and as we arrived late I have to venture back to reception to get the missing items. The location, right next to the motorway, is very noisy throughout the night with the windows open.
Noisy people in room downstairs. Might have been a one-off but it wouldn't have happened in a more swanky place!
Good TV and wi fi in the room.
No air con, it was very warm night.
Helpfulness of staff especially the night staff as we had to arrive late after a Grandchild's 21 party
Nothing In particular. I wouldn't like the idea of animals sharing accommodation, although |I was unaware if there was any at the time we stayed
Easy to access, free parking
Didn't realise that the 'restaurant' was the motorway service station! Only McDonalds or Costa Coffee for our main evening meal and Breakfast...not exactly what I had expected.
the location was brilliant as we were visiting friends in cornforth.
felt that the hotel could have done with a refurb as the carpets were very worn and stained, paintwork was grubby.lights didnt work bathroom dated.
Mould on ceiling needs to be painted over and soap dish taken away completely. Tiles given a good clean. Wifi didn't work whilst on bed, only at desk.
Overall it was ok
We booked a Family room for 2 adults and 2 children (15 and 12) but there wasn't enough beds for the four of us.
Staff very helpful and rooms very clean.
Was very disappointed there was no restaurant or bar facilities on the premises we had to travel out with for think.
Freedom to get up in a morning without being tied to breakfast times.
Cost £55 per night yet advertised outside that there are rooms from £28 per night. Reception is not staffed full time but Cleaning staff provide a viable alternative.
The guy that checked us was just brilliant! He was so helpful and on the ball!! An absolute credit to his bosses!!
No bar No local facilities Only really suitable for an overnght stay
Excellent location to visit durham university
bed was comfortable and room size was ok
arrived to be told the did not have our booking, the found it but blamed booking company for over booking, could only offer a room with a broken shower, only had bedding for one bed had to ask twice, staff not friendly/disiterested.
Friendly, helpful staff. Very reasonable cost for a family room. Very convenient for Durham city.
Family room not made up although I suspect that's the booking system's problem not the hotel. Staff apologetic and made up room with no problems. Hotel looking a little tired but clean, convenient and very reasonable.
unable to close window.......so....unacceptable noise from motorway spoilt my sleep.......in room 29................ room redecoration required carpet stained misleadind message on website about breakfast deal
It was fine
The room spelt either musty or someone had been smoking in it
