With a beautiful rural setting in the spectacular Scottish countryside, this small, family-run hotel is halfway between Lockerbie and Gretna Green, just off highway A74(M).

A late Victorian mansion, Somerton House Hotel bears the distinctive red sandstone like much of the buildings within the town of Lockerbie.

The room we had (No 11) had a superb view over the lake and was so quite.
A little bit of noise from the hall, and a problem with TV reception.
easy access from motorway and cleanliness excellent and the room very quiet. will recommend to family and friends
EXCELLENT, CONVENIENT LOCATION. AMPLE PARKING. OUR ROOM WERE AT THE BACK OF THE HOTEL, OVERLOOKING THE LAKE, WOULD DEFINETLY REQUEST FIRST FLOOR, REAR OF HOTEL. VERY, VERY CLEAN, WORTH BOOKING.
WE STAYED ON A BUSY BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND. I KNOW IT'S AN EXTREMELY BUSY SERVICES, HOWEVER THE SERVICES STAFF COULD HAVE PRIORITISED MOVING RUBBISH BAGS & EMPTYING BINS MORE. WE DID SEE SEVERAL RATS. EVERYONE KNOWS THEY'RE AROUND, BUT YOU DON'T EXPECT TO SEE THEM. I DON'T THINK I'D HAVE STAYED IF WE WERE ON THE GROUND FLOOR. WE DID REPORT IT TO RECEPTION.
Location is great Good room size Ideal for a stop over en route
Trundle mattress could be a better quality High season price
excellent location perfect walk site for kids and dogs nice hotel
not enough choices for food
This place needs some TLC looking old and the beds are uncomfortable I think Zeberdee was in the matress
Good location. Clean room.
There was poor TV reception and it was difficult to watch anything as it kept breaking up and freezing. Did not like the fact that there were loads of dogs staying in the hotel as have allergy to dog fur and did get sore eyes and runny nose. Pain having family room upstairs with no lift. Had to carry all baby stuff and luggage up the stairs.
This was our 2nd visit and definitely won't be the last. Large, quiet room, good beds and dog friendly. The location is nicer than any other motorway stop we know.
the layout of the facilities in the service area has been updated to good effect with a decent breakfast bar too. Always stop off here enroute tto scotland as the lake is a good walk for the dog
as a party of 4 adults & 2 kids there is little to do at night, no pub, no beer in the shops, if we'd been given the choice of room with a lake view & balcony & brought a few tins it would have been better
Food was bottom of the priority list for Days Inn. They used to have a half decent restaurant, now its Macdonalds which is OK, but not for Evening meal and breakfast
We have stayed here many times throughout the past ten years (Premier Inn). It is clean, comfortable, and fully recommended by us. The staff are always helpful and friendly. My son left his iPod in the bed!! We tracked it down after a week. Thank you Denise for all your help in returning it to him. This was Customer Services at it's best!
The food set-up has changed at this location. The restaurant has gone. Replaced by McDonalds, Costa, and the Hot Food Co. The breakfast deal is with the Hot Food Co. I do not recommend this outlet if you enjoy a nice breakfast. Get on the road and stop somewhere else!
Standard motorway service area hotel. Nothing great and nothing bad. Big grassy area and pond behind it.
Only a McDs, Costa and a WHSmiths for food at night.
£80 a room because some games were being played 80 miles away. Otherwise ok.
I was really surprised at the quality of this hotel considering the price. The facilities were great and the whole hotel was very clean. The staff were helpful. Would stay here again.
I would like to say thank you for their professional attitude during my stay. They had to call the ambulance and everything went smoothly. The room and the reception was good as well. Thanks one more time.
No fresh air... Poor TV reception.... Deliberately mis-sold a breakfast voucher that was pointless. Kids don't eat free - they get a credit worth £2.99. But there is nothing on the menu at this price. You end up paying £10 for something that costs £6, and it's just sitting in the service station. Not a good experience.
Comfy beds and pleasant staff
Convenient, clean and comfortable
We our dogs with us.Lovely walk round the pond.
Not so clean, bit noisy, no a/c. If you book early and paid cheap, it is an ok hotel to stop for the night.
Easy to book online whilst on the road by my navigator! Excellent value given the late booking. Friendly staff clean quiet rooms.
£29 rooms only available in advance which was understandable. One noisy neighbour.
Location just off the motorway being a services didn't add time to our journey. Views of lake from back bedrooms very nice to wake up to
Mattress very lumpy and can feel the springs - felt worn out TV signal bad couldn't watch properly. Shower very dated. Better shower head would be an im
Staff really went the extra mile incredibly pleasant and helpful Really handy for the services as well
Good location for breaking journey from Scotland to west country.
Arrived at 12.15pm - very tired. We were asked to move rooms after 15 mins because of another booking - not very well planned! Receptionist not very friendly either when we arrived or left. Value for money very poor - we broke our journey in Birmingham on the way north and paid £47 per room including breakfast - Days Inn was £100 without breakfast.
