Nice hotel although quite hard to get into with the renovations to the Mailbox. Friendly staff. Decent enough room if basic. Lovely breakfast. Would probably stay here again.
No wifi in the room, only downstairs in the bar.
Location of hotel, cleanliness of room, helpful staff and value for money.
Tired decor in common areas with carpets well past their sell by date!!
The view from the room was lovely. Hotel was only a few minutes walk away from everything we needed. Staff were helpful, gave us great directions.
I would have liked wifi in the room.
The location only....
I would like a refund! Don't stay in room 413 :(
Needs refurbishing. Wall around light switch was disgusting. Shower may have been clean but lots of mold and discoloration. Marks on bathroom ceiling where there have been leaks from above. Bed saggy and tired. Hall ways need painting and new carpets.
location fab and decor funky. Nice bathroom and big shower
pillows hard and no room service
Second visit and we enjoy the location, ease of parking and friendly staff
Although well placed hotel could do with a refurbishment as some areas look a little tired but great value for money
Location is fantastic
The bed sheets had holes in and there was a patch of crispy carpet where a previous occupant had been sick
Bug stain on carpet. Cracked toilet. Smelly room
Booked the hotel through Booking.com and had confirmation e-mail. When we got to the hotel they had no record of us staying there. They went off to do some phoning around and then admitted that they had made a mistake and not picked up the booking from Booking.com. Luckily they did have a room for us but disappointing start to our stay.
Easy walk from Birmingham New Street station, comfortable room and basic amenities I would expect from moderately priced city centre 'generic' hotel. Friendly and professional staff. Convenient for a range of mid range brand restaurants (eg Pizza Express, Cote, Nandos etc... and a more one-off asian region place called The Oriental which was justifiably popular)
Only had wifi in the communal areas for my 'standard' room. The hardwired internet connection is probably fine but I had a new ethernet-USB connector for my netbook as I could not plug the hotel's cable directly into my small laptop and that did not work so it was frustrating to have to go downstairs to reception to get a connection.
Location was hard to find but overall all else was good
No toiletrys in bathroom except hand soap no information in room ie- to let u know checking out time meal times etc
Our room was very clean and all appliances worked.
Window didn't close properly: the Mailbox is very popular and so it was very noisy. The bed was too soft for me.
a hotel in this place of business without wireless, is completely inadmissible
The room smelled like smoke despite the fact that it said non smoking.. The odour was so much that it felt like someone smoked there for 50 years or something like that. I also asked the reception to wake me up at 7:30 which never happened. I was late to my meeting. It was not the best hotel I stayed in. There are better ones in Birmingham for this money.
the hotel which we stayed at was in the mailbox Birmingham. It was central to the eateries in the mailbox and was even next to a little Tesco express, and the staff were an absolute delight.
The facilities there was not acceptable our room was freezing it had one heater on the wall. When i called down to reception she said that we had to keep our room key in the holder to keep the heating on.This frustrated us as we were only given one key and obviously took that out with us when we left. We called for room service and the menu was sparse enough but when we asked for things at least twice they said they didn't have it which was of course disappointing.
The helpful pleasant staff
Very difficult to find the hotel
Staff, breakfast was excellent location was great everything nearby
Rooms were cold, bed was old and uncomfortable, shower mouldy, decor tatty, corridor carpets patched with tape
Perfect location for mailbox and New Street Station. Staff were very helpful. Lounge area very pleasant - breakfast was very nice
The bedrooms and hall areas were tired and could do with a fresh coat of paint and new carpet. The lighting in the bedrooms was very dim making it quite difficult to read when sitting at the desk
It is very convenient for where I am working. The staff are always very pleasant and helpful.
It is getting very shabby - particularly the corridors and lift lobbies. I think the lighting in the bedrooms has changed as it is very poor - energy efficiency possible but hard if you are trying to read a lot of papers and there is no desk light now. If you are a Mac user you can't use it in the rooms as it won't plug in - you have to go to the restaurant/lounge area. This particular room was very cold and I had to use the electric heater in the room.
Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Room basic but comfortable. Hotel itself looks as though it could do with some refurbishment.
Location, friendliness of staff.
We loved the location and the view from our room
If I was to be super critical, I mentioned when I booked the room that it was my wife's birthday and other hotels that we stayed at put a small personal touch in the room like a note to say happy birthday or a cake or something like that.
