Absolutely nothing! To be fair, the young man on reception wasn quite helpful but that was the only redeeming feature. Everything! It was squalid. We were moved once because the carpet was filthy - it had big black stains, as though chewing gum had been dropped on the floor, or worse. I don't know how the management dare to put people in it. The room we were moved to had crumpled net curtains with cigarette burns in them - it was unbelievable! The room stank of cigarettes even though it had a non-smoking sign on the door. There was no lift. We paid £50 for the room which I know is cheap but my husband & I have stayed in cheaper hotels that were far more superior. I honestly don't know how the hotel has achieved a 3 star rating. To anyone reading this, please don't stay there unless you are homeless.

The hotel was cheaper than others, near to the Birmingham city (by train), fairly comfortable room. As mentioned in previous reviews of the hotel, it is more of a cheap option for youngsters who just want a place to sleep after some group binge drinking in the city. In a Saturday night about 4:50AM, there was a lot of noise in the corridor, banging on the door, and one guy kicked so hard that he smashed the lock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He tried to grab my bag and run, but I gave him a shout and he got scared and ran away!! I nevertheless stayed one more night in a different room because I didn't want to waste the day moving into a new hotel and I was travelling alone. I shudder to think what would have happened if I had brought my family or if there was an elderly couple. Stay at the hotel at your own risk. Lock the doors really well after 2AM. Not recommended for the faint hearted! Please also note that there are no trains through the Small Heath station on Sundays.

Very little to like except for its location being close to a ralway station and reasonably good access to city centre restaurants etc. Generally scruffy and in desperate need of updating. No hot water for showering most mornings we were there and the management seemed indifferent to our complaint.

The breakfast was quite good although a little greasy but the kitchen staff were very pleasent as were the reception staff. The bed was very comfortable and clean and the room was very spacious The carpets looked very dirty in the room (stains) The toilet paper holder was empty (there were extra rolls in the bathroom but had not been put on the holder) We had a room facing the main golden hillock rd and it was very noisy, the double glazing didnt fit the frames leaving gaps for the noise. The fire alarm went off three times for a short period on sunday morning at 7 o clock. No apology or reason from the staff. I will say yes to recommend it because The hotel was ok for the purpose i required (an overnight night stay for a local family party) but could probably find a better one for the same price if staying for longer.

It was cheap and close to the city. The bed was very comfortable and whilst the decor was very tired, the bedding and bathroom were clean. The hotel is used by people looking for a cheap place to stay for the night after a night out in the city (as my party was). It was therefore very "lively" in the early hours with lots of coming and going. It was rather seedy.

I was dubious about staying here after reading previous reviews but I want to put things into perspective. There is nothing wrong with this hotel for the price you are paying. True its a little tired and dated but it was clean fairly comfortable with some of the most helpful and friendly hotel staff I have come across. I guess I would liken it to staying with An elderly aunt. Nothings changed for a while, but its homely. Maybe its because I went with very low expectations and ended up being surprised. All this said I also wouldnt want to pay more than basic rate for this hotel. No lift. Room was a little chilly but hotel had added a portable heater to room without asking that fixed that problem

Staff on Reception friendly, welcoming and helpful. Close to my business venue and good value Very basic - tv remote not very good, selection of tv channels not very great, picture not very great. Channels numbers not matching well to actual channels.

Had to go to Birmingham for one night so the price was the attraction. Very pleasant and clean and free parking. The room and beds were very good. I noticed the cleaners in the room opposite moving beds to clean, which was impressive. When we asked for help with the heating system it was dealt with immediately.I Would stay there again at £39. Perfectly acceptable. A little tired and in need of maintenance, our shower although working was in need of repair, The tv was in need of upgrading. Couldn't find a lift so lots of stairs. I guess disabled people get ground floor rooms. Around 4 miles to Centre so £6 for taxi into town but double that to get back.

It's location was good Cleanliness. I arrived to a room that let's just say smelled like a sewer. When I went to use bathroom the toilet was disgusting and clearly the room had not been cleaned since last guest left. I felt uncomfortable and disgusted by hotel. I ended up checking out and going elsewhere to stay. Absolutely disgusting, unhygienic hotel.
