This historic Gothic mansion sits in tranquil parkland on the Cotswold Edge, next to the Severn Valley and close to Bristol. It offers fine dining, a recreation club, and spacious, traditional rooms.
Score from 267 reviews Very good
In a prime location on the outskirts of Bristol, this hotel is only a 10-minute drive from Bristol Parkway Train Station and is conveniently located close to the M4 and M5 highways.

Score from 593 reviews Very good
Set in the beautiful village of Hawkesbury Upton, The Fox Inn is a friendly old British pub with an Italian twist. It includes free on-site parking.
Score from 109 reviews Very good
Handy for the moterway M5 had a good night sleep to break he journey up.
My mother found a used corn plaster in the morning when she pulled back the duvet. Horrible to think the sheets might not have been cleaned.
TV and Internet not very good
No twin rooms at standard rate unless you book a family room.
Location, 24 hour reception, having a bath in the bathroom, close to Starbucks!
Location and helpfulness of the reception staff. All very friendly and pointed us in the right direction for pubs/restaurants for evening meals. The Continental Breakfast at £4.95 is great. Thank you for a second very enjoyable stay.
Despite every room in "Our corridor" being designated as "Non-smoking" there was a constant smell of cigarette smoke in the corridor. The room was fine.
The room size.
Shower water only coming out in a dribble, so I had to have a bath in the morning. Tv could be bigger for the size of the room. Shower gel dispenser empty.
Located next to M5, free parking, Good value
Sat Nav took us to a private road .We didn't relalise until we eventually phoned the hotel for directions that we could drive into the back entrance from here as signs said no admittance.
Good facilities and quietness
The quiet location
The smell of cigarette smoke
Staff were very polite and helpful. Any queries or questions were met with keenness and a positive response. Rooms though basic were clean, tidy and more than adequate for our needs. For the cost, it is extremely good value.
Not much to criticise. Toilet flush took a bit of persuading to work and the bed was a bit over springy but these are small issues that didn't really affect our stay as it was just somewhere to sleep after a long day.
Staff were more than helpful especially the lady who booked us in. Suzanne I think. She was really informative and told us the best way to get to the Arboretum which was the purpose of our visit. Good size room with plenty of seating and surfaces. Good hot shower and lovely big soft towels! Would certainly return.
Everything can't fault it in any way, would stay there again.
The staff were excellent regarding the slightly odd road system . The satnav cannot suggest the shortcut The hotel was full but It was still very quiet Plenty of meal opportunities 5 minutes walk away Will definitely use again when visiting Bristol . If you are a light sleeper ask for a room on the back I had the windows shut but you could hear distant traffic but it did not bother me
Wifi kept not working Not been given room on back as I had asked
Location, ease of checking in, receptionist so helpful
Being stood outside 1 hour while a false fire alarm was dealt with
Staff are always so helpful & polite. Really improves the visit with staff like these.
Beds a wee bit uncomfortable, also, an easy chair in the rooms would be nice rather than just the standard chair.
Location, space, clean and a decent bed. Plenty of room and quiet. Staff helpful. Breakfast not available on site, much better than having rubbish available.
Television with no BBC
Courteous staff Cleanliness and comfort of room
Poor quality extra child bed
Knowing what to expect & the location was ideal for us visiting family in Thornbury. Access was easy as we didn't have to go via M5 all the time,
Because it was absolutely throwing it down with rain, the distance across to the service station was a problem. Also forgot to pick up breakfast vouchers !
It's ok if you're northbound but we were southbound and wanted to meet up with children who live nearby
We have to go down to Jn 14 then come back North. Services left via a back road with no signpost as to which way to go to get to M5. This only appears after you've found the A38 to which there is alos no signpost as you leave Services by the back way
Free internet is a real bonus.
Signing at entrance to service area did not seem very clear. We ended up having to go out a 'no exit' way.
No fuss, clean well priced stay at a convenient location. Staff were courteous and helpful without being obtrusive. Payment on arrival made departure quick and easy.
No cafeteria on hotel site.
