Score from 200 reviews Very good
Despite the proximity of the motorway it was quiet and I slept very well. Staff were friendly and very helpful and the room had everything I required and was comfortable.
The only thing I would criticise is that the walkway from the main service area back to the hotel was poorly lit.
I was travelling East and could not access the hotel from that side of the motorway. It added extra time and miles onto my journey.
Our room was situated near the entrance where everyone was outside smoking and talking loudly so wasn't able to get to sleep until late!!
I liked the services it was next to.
The water in the shower/ bath was consistently Luke warm. We were in room 13 and it seems the laundry service picks up at 12 midnight. Very loud for 1 1/2 hrs. Bad cleaning service.
easy booking in and privacy
No decent food options available on site
Location StAff were pleasant
Noisy Smelt of smoke in hallway Bedding smelt of BO Single bed was tiny
We arrived in the evening and discovered it was not the family room I had booked. When I checked with reception I was told I had not booked a family room and there were no more available. It was not able to check my booking until after returning from holiday and I had booked a family room.
Staff helpful, although (new?,foreign?) did not know of Highclere Castle (of Downton Abbey fame), close by, where we'd come from. Room facilities good, especially 'extras' which went with executive room.
From memory, think wall lights over desk area weren't working. Also, could not work out how to operate shower, and found getting into and out of what appeared to be a very shallow, easy-to-get-in-and -out-of bath , was in fact very difficult. Had to heave hard onto basin edge to do so. Could have done with more milk 'cartons' as tea ('cheap') was very strong, and had to use up all milk for one cup, I think.
staff were lovely bed was comfortable very clean option of breakfast
not much, for a an en route stopover all was good
Bed a bit uneven
The location is excellent, the place clean
First of all, they gave us 2 rooms for a family of 5 on 2 different floors! When we asked for connecting rooms, they said No arguing that they were full while we saw them accepting guest without booking! We then had to pay for the second room for 2 nights without using it! We tried to cancel the second night but they pre charged it redirecting us to booking.com for cancellation policy! As a farewell gift, The staff knocked on our door at 11 12 am reminding us that check out was at 11 am! Moreover they tried to charge us 10 pounds for "late check out" at 11 27 am! Thank god we had a lovely stay the night before in london and the week after in langford!
Friendly staff and clean bathroom and room in general
Booked room on 27/07 for a visit on 16/08. Requested a travel cot/crib as have a 5 month old baby. Was advised no cot/crib available by email at 12.38 16/08, AFTER we had left to travel and AFTER it was not possible to cancel the room without charge. On arrival, allocated a room on first floor, with NO lift access so had to try and get a buggy and suitcases up two sets of stairs through four sets of doors. Room given was above the main door, so receptionist changed this to an adjacent door. All night long we heard the door clanking shut and the security beeps going. Located off the main car parking area, so you cannot see your car to check it is secure. Free Wi-Fi that doesn't work, so no internet access in room. Mattress was too soft, so when you both sleep on bed you roll into middle. Had to share the bed with baby as no cot/crib provided, husband slept on sofa. Breakfast: 'warm' croissant was cold and not cooked properly.
Staff very helpful and friendly, remembered us from previous stay.
When we checked out
Travelling from London the directions took us past the hotel, on to the next junction and back to other side of the motorway, this was 16miles extra. Only to be told it's on the other and we need to take a road over the motorway, doing this in the dark with no street lights was very scary and difficult and took an extra hour !! As there were signs or directions. On arrival we checked in and went to the room. The room had a horrible odour that is still with us as I write this.opening the windows and half a bottle of aftershave did not help. It was booked for 2 adults and 2kids. The sofa bed was not made and is it was 1am we decided to use the bed. lumpy, smelly and uncomfortable. Then the shower was useless and leaking in the morning. If Booking.com want to stay in business then I highly recommend that they remove this hotel from their listings. 0 out if 10 for everything!!!!
Basic clean accommodation and good value for one night.
Remote from car park and slope walkway for disabled. Sound insulation not good from floor above as occupants noisy footsteps went on a long time.
Fortunately we had nothing to grumble about. Our rooms were comfortable.
2 other members of my family checked into their room. One really did smell of dog and the other cigarette smoke. They believe these were not booked in advance. A request to be moved could not be met as apparently hotel full
Helpful staff Good nights sleep Easy to find.
Bathroom floor was broken in room 006, fell over getting out of shower and tried to keep myself up by grabbing shower curtain, now have swallon ankle and pain in my lower back
Competent and very friendly staff. Comfortable and spacious room. Good value
Bath/basin/toilet could have been cleaner
Location , easy to get to while travelling to Eastbourne.
Booked a family room but only 2 cups and teas, coffee for 2 people not 4. Also had to make the children's bed up
Convenient place to stop between Kent and Newport. I like the fact that it still allows dogs to stay. Friendly staff.
The bathroom tiles were looking a little worn in places, so could probably do with an update.
Where do I start. Both my wife and I are non smokers. We we're put in the smoking section of the hotel. The room smelt stale just like a smokers room. The following morning we could smell smoke from the other rooms. We were consultancy didsturbed but noise of other guest. We alar to be change room only to be told that is what we booked. We had not and on the booking conformation smoking rooms were avilible on request. Not happy with this atall. I will use premier inn in future. Not days in. The receptionist would of cracked her face if she had smiled and was not very helpful. My wife had to clean the bath before using it as it was dirty. The whole thing was unclean. Don't use this place.
If you are on the motorways it is good
for our purpose it was all wrong location was bad and the room was very small
The room was comfortable and clean. The staff were very helpful both on checking in and an enquiry about getting to the east bound carriageway. The room was quiet possibly due to the location of the hotel at the service area.
The lack of parking facility adjacent to the hotel.
