“They were very accommodating to our needs. We needed to book in a short while before the appointed time as we were attending a wedding close by at 14:30 so required a little extra leeway to sort ourselves out and get there in time.”

There is one major issue. I often stay at Motorway Service area hotels, and this was my 4th recent stay at Days inn South Mimms. Sometimes, I've been able to ask at checking in, and sometimes I've been lucky, but on this occasion I had a room facing the motorway itself - in this case the very busy m25. These rooms are obviously noisier. Too noisy sometimes. I accept that where these hotels are, there will be some rooms facing away from the motorway, and others facing it. I'm always prepared for that. However, some other hotels have gone some way to solving this problem. Days Inn South Mimms hasn't. The partial solution, which brings about a significant improvement, is to install additional secondary, sliding, double glazing in the affected rooms. This should be done in all the rooms that face the motorway. Or, those rooms should be let at a cheaper rate on those nights they have to be occupied. I should be grateful for Days Inn feedback on this comment / idea please.

It wasn't a place you like or dislike. It certainly wasn't a place to write home about. For us, it was a place to spend the night on our way to Heathrow. It served it's purpose.

Location and ease of booking over internet. I was first given the key to Room 224; on entering the room the smell of stale tobacco was disgusting, and on utilising the bathroom I discovered the toilet pan was leaking - a point that I mentioned to the staff when I stayed some 3 years previously. However on mentioning the above to the Reception staff I was given the choice of two alternative rooms - one being on the ground floor; but it was pointed out to me that these are the smoking rooms!! I settled for the alternative room no. 227. This was of an acceptable standard.

Although when I booked on line there was only a smoking room available,at the time. When I got there the receptionist mentioned that I had booked a smoking room.i then replied that it was all that was available.she very kindly me a cancelation, so I was able to have a non smoking room, which I very much apreciated ,as I have never smoked. Thank your staff for her trouble.will certainly use you hotel again. John bell. Just to say it would be very good if it were possible to have a sheet and blanket, instead of a doublet,or have choice,as I find them too hot ,even with heating off. This is not a complaint, as I know most people prefer a doublet. Just me.thanks.

Friendly & efficient welcome by reception staff also the lobby area is pleasantly furnished and welcoming with seating, papers and refreshment machines. Hallways & room all clean and uncluttered. Facilities in the room were adequate and worked perfectly well. Bath & shower were clean as were towels. Have stayed in a 5 star hotel where we had to send for clean towels before we had a shower!! For us the big bonus was we could take our Jack Russell and the room was very spacious for his bed etc. Breakfast is either a continental left outside your room or you can go across to the Eat Inn and have a cooked breakfast. All in all good, clean, comfortable, warm & inexpensive accommodation.

Hotel was chosen for its close location to a family event.Hotel was very good value for anyone needing a stop off point. Staff were excellent in their service provided. Rooms were clean and tidy. Breakfast was extra, served at the motorway services on the site, which was okay. Good basic hotel, would use again.
