Sitting on the terrace in the late afternoon, having a drink and reading my book. Breakfast! On all three days we arrived between 9 and 9.30, to what can only be described as chaos. This was partly to do with the number of guests being serviced but also to do with a range of staff needs, eg lack of 'seeing' what needed doing most urgently. The more senior members acknowledged this as an issue, and on the third morning, a Sunday, it was more calm. However, stocks were still low and untidy, with breads being the most lacking in variety. It was as if when everyone's names had been ticked as having been down, the standards of clearing and relaying or restocking went into 'coast', rather than remaining in 'overdrive'. I spoke to a young woman on the desk and shared the above with her. As a guest, it is unpleasant to feel that just because you come down to breakfast a little later, you are not as valued or important to those who come down to a scrum when the doors first open.

The spa was really lovely- far larger than in any other hotel I've stayed in, and you could use it after you had checked out as well. Dinner in the hotel's Indian restaurant Saffrons was excellent as well. Our room was pretty basic (907), and had no luxury 'extras' I would've expected from a 4 star hotel (so bring slippers/ flip flops for walking to the spa). Hospitality tray in room was just basic tea and coffee, no herbal teas/ water etc. We recently stayed in a Premier Inn, and I can honestly say that the room there was plusher and better equipped than Hotel de France (although I believe that the older 'balcony rooms' here are really nice, we were in a modern extension). Breakfast was adequate, but nothing special- frozen berries, pre-cooked English breakfast, plain white sliced bread (although fancy breads and pastries were mentioned, they were never out when we breakfasted). For a family holiday/ quick business trip it's fine, but don't expect too much from the rooms/ breakfast and make sure you visit the spa

Excellent breakfasts with really freshly cooked food. You need to read the information in the hotel room. If you bring your own drink to your room you can be charged a corkage fee.

The staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming, the hotel was clean and the public areas were well decorated and in good order. The amenities were first class with a modern well kitted out gym and spa, the food was good in all of the restaurants. I though the room we had was a little tired in its decoration and furniture, a double room with only one chair ( except for the dressing table chair) a second chair or sofa required, no mini bar or fridge. The fact that “corkage was to be charged on any drinks brought in to the hotel is in this day and age archaic and reminiscent of a Blackpool b&B. Although not there to stay in the room and watch television the unit (tv) provided was too small. The parking was minimal and the spaces small even for the small hire cars used on the island. No priority was in place for residents and as a result no spaces were available on my return from a trip around the island due to a function in the hotel

I loved my stay at Hotel de France, staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, esp the staff at Cafe Aroma . A glass of quality wine with some fine food , on the patio, watching the sun set, was a delightful end of day experience. My room on the 1st floor was beautifully comfortable, and, other than some corridor noise, very peaceful and relaxing. I enjoyed the short walk into town and to the waterfront, I saw much more of St Helier than had I stayed in one of the downtown hotels. I plan to come back for a longer stay next time I am up in this hemisphere, hopefully same time next year! No dislikes, loved it.

plerasant location; It had a very spacious and relaxed feel, very helpful staff, comfortable and pleasant room, and at the less expensive end of the booking rates too. The Indian restaurant was expensive and the bridge club booking meant the Orangerie menu was a special one for them; such that the only place I was happy to eat in the evening was the Cafe Aroma; but the menu there was very good. Pedestrian access to the hotel is also a bit awkward, up a steep set of steps to one side. Since my destination for two days was a few hundred yards and by pedestrian access behind the hotel to the other side from the steps, that meant a long, steep and awkward detour. But then, I expect most of the clientele of the hotel would arrive and leave by vehicle - access by vehicle was good - and would not be bothered by this. For those who do like to walk, it's a direct few minutes' stroll to the centre of town.

Best things about the Hotel De France are the public areas - the reception area, gym, cafe-restaurant, bar and spa facilties - all of which are spacious, modern and extremely well-run. The garden is also well-maintained and delightful. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts were exceptionally good. We were impressed by the powerful hairdryer in our room. I think the unfortunate 1970s development in the grounds leading up to the hotel is a bit of an eyesore, but there isn't much that can be done about that, I suppose. Also, we struggled to find a car parking space on one or two evenings. The guest room we stayed in was perfectly adequate and very clean, but a bit like a Premier Travel Inn. The decor in some of the lifts and corridors was a bit cheap - nylon carpet glued onto the walls up to dado level and a general lack of "finish" (a sort of B&Q does Victoriana look). But on the whole a very good hotel - especially the main public areas - and with just a bit more attention to detail, this could become a very fine hotel indeed.

Excellent reception staff, wifi in room - free, right balance of comfort for my needs as business traveller. Bulk shower gels and soaps, I prefer individual packs. Lounge often taken over by events, a separate space for busuniss travellers is required.

I 've stayed in Jersey a few times .I 've been a little disappointed with the 3 star hotels I 've stayed in .So ,this time I chose The Hotel De France - I 'd stayed there a couple of times before & liked it Public areas in the hotel are smart & spacious .There are several restaurants -which I didn't try, though .one evening I had a hot chocolate in the café/bar .There 's also a spa but I 've never tried this either . I 'd booked a single room but was allocated a twin room -which was clean ,comfortable & a good size .The bathroom & toilet are separate -There's a bath with a shower over..I Liked the toiletries [in bottles fixed to the wall rather than travel sized bottles ] My room was very quiet & I slept well . Breakfast was really good .I was shown to a table quicky & tea /coffee was brought almost immediately .You then help yourself from the buffet -which includes a selection of croissants /pastries ; a selection of fruit salads ,a selection of fresh fruit :cold meats ,eggs [free range ] bacon etc etc I paid £150 for 2 nights which I thought was a good price The hotel is a lovely grand building .Unfortunately you can't see how nice it is from the road because there's an ugly car park in front , You reach the hotel via steps & a slope -I would think that most people arrive in a car . It's a 20 minute walk from the hotel into Town [St Helier ] The only thing I don't like about the Hotel De France is the ugly car park in front of it It's also a bit of a walk up the steps & slope to the hotel,so if you 're on foot it's not suitable for people with mobility problems

Everything about the hotel and it's staff was totally professional. The hotel was immaculate in it's cleanliness. Every detail was considered, for the benefit of the guest, such as providing a hair scrunchie for the shower, and plenty of tea bags and milk in the room. The Tennerfest was on during my visit, and the food in Cafe Aroma was first class, but it was priced very reasonably. All of the staff were very helpful, cheerful and willing to assist in any way. The spa was amazing, and again totally professionally staffed.

It was only a very brief stay with no time to sample the hotel facilities but the hotel complex itself was very welcoming and very well furnished and the rooms (although small) were very clean and had all the facilities you'd expect. Would definitely recommend it
