I thought the hotel was very plush and suitable for us .
Food, service, timing of event v good with 12.30 finish
would have preferred to be in main building as it has a more festive feel and decorations. Luckily the weather was good as would have been issues if raining hard to go from main building to temp building.
Staff were pleasant and helpful.
We were disappointed we could not use all the facilities as there was two functions on.We were not offered a free drink or any recompense for the inconvenience.
Nice room, pleasant lounge area Good breakfast
Cold plate at dinner in dinning room Room radiator not on when we arrived on a cold day. Beer a touch over priced
A nice old world feel with a lovely bar area with open fire. The facilities include a fitness centre, an outdoor swimming pool,(but not used by us on a freezing cold day). There are also extensive gardens where you can stroll in nice weather. The breakfast was excellent and all the staff were helpful and cheerful. The bedroom was well equipped and was quiet and roomy. The hotel is within a short taxi ride of Brentwood and trains into central London are frequent.
we were positioned next to some Mechanical plant which made a constant noise all day until 10pm. It was not good at all but we were expected to put up with it.
I liked my spacious room and the breakfast had variety of dishes. It was a peaceful stay and I enjoyed it very much . Would stay again
Everytime we wanted to go out we had to go through the resturant.
Excellent and attentative service, food was very tasty too!
Standard double bed too small
I really loved the building and the antique furniture. You can really feel its own atmosphere in there. It was nice to have a glass of wine by the fire place. The bed was not fantastic but it was not a major issue. Overall, good value for that price.
The hotel is beautiful. The breakfast in bed service was excellent. The room was comfortable. The staff were friendly and prompt. We had a lunch there before checking out and it was really nice.
I was disappointed to find some errors in the room such as torn curtains, some building discard left on the wardrobe, the room wasn't looking attractive as it was some sort of yellow. I was disappointed because it was not value for money at all. I expected it to be sophisticated and beautiful like the hotel itself.
lovely quiet room
Near door so could smoke as when booked was booked as smoker
Staff were all very happy to work at the hotel which is an excellent sign that the business is well managed. We will certainly visit this venue again as it was great for the entire family - a pity we could not stay another day.
Very noisy Saturday function! Enjoyment totally spoiled following a long tiring journey. Suggest you inform guests using your booking service be advised of this sort of problem. Unconfortable mattress in Room 26 !
Location excellent Outdoor facilities and setting superb, a clean Swimmimg pool, wonderful grounds. Good wi if reception and good food. (Breakfast only taken at this Hotel)
On arrival given ground floor disabled room with dirty toilet brush and loose bed light socket on wall. Had asked for upper floor , non disabled room. Moved to another room as per original request expediently. Room somewhat tired looking especially the bathroom. Flush constantly on refill 24/7 ! Light above bathroom mirror not working . , although this was fixed on request. Refused breakfast first morning 9.50 A.M. As too late. Yet Sunday morning breakfast carried on until gone 11.00a.M. Yet both days had same time framer of 10.00a.M.! No housekeeping carried out in our room on Saturday. Had to request clean towels etc at reception who were at a loss as to explain why this had happened. More three star than four. Would not stay here again.
The staff of the hotel were friendly and courteous. The room was adequate and certainly clean. The staff were very accommodating to our requirements and seemed genuinely keen to help.
I wasn't a fan of the mattress but I rarely find particularly good mattresses in hotels anyway. The sandwich buffet provided for lunch as part of the conference I was attending was rather dire for the money; in the hotel's defender it was a rather last minute request but I still think they could have done better, given the £8.50 price tag, which I thought was a little steep for some sandwiches and crisps.
Friendly, helpful and attentive staff. Good breakfast choices.
This hotel was perfect for our stay. We couldn't fault it. There was plenty of choice for breakfast with lots of fruit, nuts and seeds. Continental meats. Creamy porridge and of course the full english.
The Coffee pot had no spout so coffee all over the breakfast table. They need to change them is our only criticism.
Very nice place - would stay there again!
My wife and I really enjoyed our stay.We were guests at a reunion dinner, and found the hotel and service very good.
The dining room, gardens and other public areas looked impressive and it was obvious a lot of money had been spent on the refurbishment.
The bedroom, although comfortable, lacked plug sockets next to the dressing table for hair styling implements, and the bottom sheets on the twin beds were too short meaning they got rumpled up in the night. Some of the grouting around the edge of the bath was black and could have used some bleach, and the hot water was very intermittent. Breakfast was a so-so affair, the continental buffet being very meagre and the packet sliced bread poor considering this isn't a budget hotel. Waitresses should have hair tied back!!
the staff the breakfast the grounds comfortable room
Room 7 a comfortable room with a view of rubbish (literally) on the ground floor which we didn't mind too much as we got a good rate but a generator started up outside at 4am and whilst not too loud to start with it did wake us up but my 8.30am you couldn't hear yourself speak! Maybe we were unlucky but others seemed to have similar noise problems on checking out and were given a discount
Easy access. Friendly staff.
The wifi wouldn't work, and when you're travelling on business, you really need it to!
On the whole it is a lovely hotel and the breakfast was very good.
I travel a lot as part of my job so I am used to different hotels. Whilst I expect not to have the same comfort as home, I was shocked at how hard the bed was. It was like lying on a block of wood. Set the alarm for 6am, but was awake at 4.30 after a very uncomfortable night.
Staff were excellent at every level. Room comfortable and clean although slightly dated. I ate in the bar and the good was excellent and reasonably priced.
No ambience in bar dining area.
