The staff were very friendly, beds very comfortable. Went for a swim and a Jacuzzi the next morning which was lovely, the leisure facilities are fab. Breakfast was good too!
lots of stairs to climb with my bags, as we did not check in until 1am after a wedding reception and 1 drunk husband I had to climb about 3 flights of stairs to room 443 with bags, shoes etc! Not a good experience!
food in restaurant during the evening was superb and the service in the restaurant was good
As there was a wedding on, we were unable to get a lunchtime drink, had to wait until late afternoon to get afternoon tea when the party moved into the restaurant. We were then not able to get a pre dinner drink at the bar as it was full of wedding guests. hotel was noisy with lots of the wedding party being obviously drunk. Sleep was almost impossible due to shouting and banging of doors. We complained at the time then also when we returned home and were assured that our concerns were being listened to and that someone would call back. WHAT A SURPRISE ... THEY DIDN'T!! We would not recommend this hotel.
Staff were friendly and polite. The lady in the spa was very helpful and showed me around explaining where everything was. We had a very enjoyable short stay
The only negative thing was there wasn't enough seats around the pool - but it was fairly busy and it was raining outside.
Room was comfortable and clean. We liked what the hotel had to offer, before we stayed there. Staff were very helpful, polite, professional and understanding when we complained.
A Thursday night stop over on route from London to the Lakes ended in disaster and a total of 2 hours broken sleep. A raucous, young wedding group partied outside our room until 6.30am, or outside the bedroom window which wouldn't close properly. What should have been a relaxing spa stop over was totally ruined by the uncontrollable wedding guests. We were fully reimbursed for the cost of the room.
Location Ambience Facilities Staff Spa Food
Rooms were not all that special, refurbished (but maybe on the cheap). Paper thin walls, I could hear absolutely every word and whisper said in the room next door, that was the only truly disappointing thing.
I stayed in the kind suite as it was my wedding night. The room was very big and comfortable with a nice view of the lake.
The service was not great. It took 30 minutes to check in, my room rate was wrong (I was offered a discount for booking 10 rooms for my wedding guests but the hotel forgot to apply it). When the room was cleaned they took my ice bucket and robes so we had to wait again before going to the spa.
Location was good, general decor was nice
Room was small with awful view of dirty laundry. Spa had a blocked shower by the jacuzzi and the jacuzzi overflowed with more than 3 people in. The hotel is very poorly signposted to get around and staff seeing people wandering and looking puzzled did not offer assistance. No vegetarian 'full English' offered at breakfast.
Staff welcoming, smart and professional. Well presented room. Comfortable bed. Nice towels and linen. Good breakfast. Location ideal for our needs. I would definitely book again, but I would upgrade my room.
It can be noisy. Noise from guests in the corridor and neighbouring rooms is intrusive at times. Sleep was disturbed more than once - I can usually sleep through anything. Please do something about the door from the kitchen behind the breakfast buffet too. It constantly bangs loudly. Dampen the door or something. It spoiled our breakfast experience and staff did not seem to notice it, even when I mentioned it. Also, please fix the broken pane of glass in the bathroom window of our room. The tape over it looks semi-permanent.
The venue for Paul and Amy's Wedding was excellent and food was well served and was very nice. Grounds were great for the photographs, and the sun shone.
The cleanliness of bathroom, and after being cleaned the soap was missing and we were left with one bath towel. The dinner in the Claret Jug was booked in my room number, and I signed for the bill, but it was charged to my brother. The above is not what we expect from your hotel.
Golf club and course looked excellent Spa was superb Staff very friendly gardens and walk excellent
bathroom a bit tired reception a bit small b'fast room v busy rear of hotel would have been great for bar area perhaps
Wonderful setting for relaxation. Spa facilities were clean, lots of options i.e pool, x2 Jacuzzis, different saunas x3 and a steam room. Grounds were impeccable and beautifully kept giving lovely views from our hotel room. It has has the feel of a cozy hotel without the different patrons feeling on top of each other e.g spa goers, golfers and hotel guests. Staff were polite and helpful.
I have emailed the hotel with my concerns.
Hottest coffee at breakfast ever
Choice at breakfast limited Fire alarm activated at 4am by another delightful guest
The facilities and grounds.
Fire alarms were set off at 4.30am . Went off 6 or 7 times . Wife could not get back to sleep after that came home more tired than when we went , recep staff very dismissive and extremely unhelpful , would not go back again
excellent beds and rooms. Good recreation facilities
dreadful breakfast choices. A second rate B&B would have better options.
The spa facilities
We were over charged for 2 rooms and had to ring the hotel when I received my credit card statement, after it was chececkednwith accounts they agreed an error but no compensation was offered and if i wouldn't of checked my statement your company would have made an extra £258.
I liked the location of the hotel, the staff were efficient and friendly and the food was good.
This hotel is on several levels and not served by a lift. Our room was up and down so many stairs we had trouble finding it - as did others we met in the corridors. The first room we were given was dark, dingy and not clean. a large chip out of the enamel of the bath, net curtains were snagged, doors were dirty. We changed rooms and the next was better but still not what we expected of this hotel.
I have emailed the manager regarding My stay at the hotel I am awaiting a response
The general hotel, the setting and decor was of a very high standard. Staff where polite, helpful and knowledgable.
The room that we stayed in (263) was poorly position at the bottom of stairs with a lot of traffic which meant constant noise throughout the night, extremely restless night due to this. We attended a wedding so didn't spend a great deal of time in the room, had this been a leisure break we would have definitely asked to move rooms. Bar prices where less than reasonable, when a member of staff was probed to why the prices where so expensive their justification was 'no competition' whilst I always expect bar prices to be above average in hotels, the prices where in the region of those set at some of the 5 star hotels I've stayed at in London which I believe is slightly too high for the location.
Room was very clean and had everything on hand
Lorry unloading outside my room at 7:30 am with it's reversing bleeping going and being charged £4.00 for 3 potatoes with my dinner
Big room, lovely grounds. Reasonable golf course. Good gym and Spa facilities.
Lack of personal service, very perfunctory. Prices do not reflect the level of service delivered, but pretty typical of De Vere hotels.
Pool & Spa was amazing. Fab Breakfast.
The hotel itself was lovely, in a beautiful setting. On booking and arrival the staff were thoughtful and accommodating.
Arriving early in the morning we hoped for better sleep, there was lots of noise carried to our room early in the morning. The breakfast quality was great but choice poor. When we asked for an apple juice for our daughter we were told that there wasn't any on offer but when heading to the bar ourselves we we're able to find some!
location good food
