Room 31 was quiet - important in the centre of the city - and has a view of the end of the Minster above the roofs. A lovely surprise although I would not say the high window would make it worth a supplement (should you be tempted to add one because of this comment!) Very comfortable bed and linen. This aspect a big plus: good night's sleep from these two points will make me return. Night manager/porter on Friday night excellent ambassador for your hotel. Denis? Older gentleman. Without being asked, gave my nephew and I a complementary pot of tea at 1am, as we were still talking in the lobby. Very much appreciated! Another small touch that will make me return. Price reasonable for the small room size in the best location. Will definitely recommend.

In particular the restaurant staff really impressed. They were welcoming, relaxed and very professional at all times. We looked forward to meal times, especialy dinner in the evening..Staff wrere sensitive to the needs of customers and were thoughtful in their interactions with guests. Food was well presented and there was always a delicate balance of flavours. Our room had been upgraded which was a nice surprise. We arrived on a surprisingly hot day and our request for a fan was dealt with courteously and promptly -all staff were extremely helpful.

The location was very handy for the Minster, Theatres and shops - it also has valet parking. Very friendly helpful staff. We will stay there again. The actual building was also attractive in a traditional way.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The bedroom and shower room were clean and nicely decorated. The hotel is centrally located and easy to find as it's right beside York Minster. The room I was staying in was either directly above or beside the kitchen. Both mornings I was wakened at 4.30am with the sound of pans banging, doors opening and closing. I didn't get a restful nights sleep. The view from the room was a stone wall

The location is incredible. The staff were all friendly and amendable. It's a very comfortable hotel. The decor is very dated, it doesn't have the feel or look of a four star hotel. I didn't think it was immaculately clean, my bathroom had grotty tiles on the floor, but not badly enough to bother with complaining, just enough to make it not feel like a four star hotel. We were lucky to get it below the tariff price, due to low season no doubt, but there is no way it's worth the tariff price when B and Bs locally are charging half that for a much nicer room. I would stay again but only at a reduced price.

We were upgraded on arrival to a superior room. All staff were excellent and very helpfull. We had a fantastic view over the minster. This was our second visit to this hotel, we will return again. The provision of a mini bar/fridge in the room would have been good.

The bed was the most comfortable ever. The room was better than clean, it was spotless. The staff were exceptional too. A very good stay, thank you. The mobility access was difficult, more so for the staff - and that makes the user of the scooter feel a burden, an uncomfortable feeling. Saying that though, the staff did all they needed to we a smile and not a hint of resentment.

Great central location. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a central location in York. A particular bonus was leaving the car outside the hotel whilst the staff parked and retrieved it for us. Well worth the £12.50 parking charge.
