The hotel in general The breakfasts
During our stay it was a little cold. Although extra pillows were provided, there were no extra warmer duvets. Room service provided a selection of food/meals. The restaurant appeared to be geared up to three course meals. Not single meal selections.
Excellent location, very helpful staff, spacious room, first class breakfast.
You should warn your guests about the 8am bells from the minster on a Sunday morning that last 2 hours
The staff, from the moment you arrive till leaving everyone was cheerful and helpful

Excellent Location and Friendly staff
Room a little small and got a little hot at night. But still nice décor and cleanliness.
Free upgrade to a wonderful room with separate sitting area. I think it's fabulous that a hotel will upgrade you without extra charge without having to ask. Well done. Great nights sleep, great location and good breKfast, helpful staff and quality furnishings. What more could you want.
Position - very near cathedral comfort and service
nothing to recall
Room was lovely. Staff very friendly & helpful. Breakfast choices great.
Arriving late , I'd not enough time to enjoy the facilities properly .
The location of the hotel was ideal it is a City Centre Hotel. Everything was within walking distance. The staff were very friendly & helpful. The cleanliness of the hotel was second to none. Our Rating forb this hotel out of 10 is 11
This was a very nice hotel in an excellent position, just over the road from York Minster and very close to the quaint lanes with their shops and restaurants. Our bedroom was spacious, comfortable and quiet with very good sound proofing so that, although we could hear the Minster bells, they were not too loud. The restaurant was very good and the staff generally were friendly and helpful. We definitely would like to go to this lovely hotel again.
Only a couple of small things. I had duck both nights in the restaurant and on the second night was not asked how I wanted it cooked, with the result that it was a bit underdone for me. Also there were several lovely looking desserts on the first night but on the second evening the dessert menu was completely different, which I was sorry about as I had hoped to try another of the tempting desserts from the first night. However, these were only minor things and the restaurant was mainly extremely good.
Very smartly presented, perfect location, lovely room! breakfast was really good - would happily stay here again.
Being charged £18.50 (was unaware of the charge - booking form said car parking was available and we didn't have to reserve - no mention of cost)
Fab location , staff friendly , amazing food. Lovely hotel.
Location very convenient to tube station and very quiet neighborhood. Lovely hotel with extremely friendly and helpful staff. We would definitely stay here again.
Easy walking distance of train station, and all the tourist places Central location Nice breakfast menu
Service in the reasturant on some days were poor and slow
Proximity to the "old Town" very courteous and helpful staff lovely breakfast
So very central. Absolutely fantastic location so any other things about the hotel pale into insignificance compared to this. Overall a good stay with no complaints.
Extractor fan at the back of the building (where we had our bedroom) was a bit noisy and a lot of cooking smells.
Incredible location for a visit to the historic, beautiful City of York. The staff are unbelievably friendly and helpful. We were there to drop our son off at York University (year one) so will hopefully visit more in the coming years.
Difficult to get to if you are driving (for the first time - next time will be fine).
Room was abit tired and breakfast was average.
The hotel was warm and comfortable, room was clean and well presented. We liked the fact there was free wifi at the hotel plus it was in easy reach of york city centre. The breakfast staff were very friendly and helpful, and also concierge were excellent. Would visit this hotel again.
The First Lady on reception whom checked us in was very friendly and helpful on our arrival and said we could keep our bags behind reception until out room was ready, we later went back when our room was finally ready and a different lady on reception chatted to her colleague and continued to ignore us until she had finished her conversation. Very poor customer service but we didn't let her rude manner ruin our stay.
Room ridiculously small Staff not all that friendly or helpful
Party revellers outside my bedroom window at 3am
All good, they really look after you.
I booked through Booking.no, and when I arrived, I detected I would ave saved 8 pounds pr. night if I had called the hotel and had booked directly! The room was not made during the day, and the staff during breakfast never got my orders right.
The location was excellent. The staff were very helpful, professional & friendly. The choice of tea & coffee in the room was excellent. Staff were very efficient and prompt when we needed anything sorting out. View of the minster whilst having breakfast was very nice.
The room was to small. It was very hot at night & you forgot to mention there is a taxi rank outside. So if we opened the window it was to noisey to sleep, with the window shut it was to hot to sleep. Taxi noise finished about 4.30 Sunday morning then the road sweeper turned up at 5.30!!! Breakfast was nice except the chef served up soute potatoes made from a potato that had a black circle threw it, not good.
