An amazing location and a room right next to the swimming pool
The ambience of the hotel was very nice with traditional décor. The food was excellent, although we were presented with the same menu every night which had several options to choose from.
Unfortunately we had room No 33 and the bed was not very good. There was a board placed underneath the mattress, which made the bed very firm. We were also placed next to the laundry from which there was a loud fan noise, which prevented us from going to sleep. We stayed for four nights and had to ask reception every night to turn the fan off which they did.
Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful location superb gardens and grounds with super seating areas. Nice bedroom. Very relaxed atmosphere in the hotel yet professional. Good food.
When I booked on line in June I asked for a room without lots of stairs for my elderly mother to deal with, this didn't happen. She coped but struggled. Found it rather rude to be asked to pay up front for accommodation on arrival with no explanation.
I love Alfriston, the location, the walks, the peace & quiet & the lovely village feeling you get whilst there.
Deans Place is a lovely place to stay in the historic village of Alfriston. Parking is plentiful, staff is friendly. We had a large bedroom with beautiful views from a large picture window, overlooking the gardens and the Sussex downs . Breakfast is good too.
Nothing we particularly disliked, but perhaps check if the hotel is hosting a wedding, when public areas can be busy.
The quaint interior and rooms. Good quality food.
Staff were poorly trained in customer service.
Quiet location in historical village within a few minutes of the south coast. Outdoor pool, croquet lawn & plenty of spots to lounge
After an initial confusion in our booking, the general manager and reception staff bent over backwards to ensure that our stay was a success. So much so that we instantly booked another visit.
Home from home. We go back ages. I only hope they like me as much as I like them. Specifically the gardens and pool are a special attraction.
The bedroom. The breakfast was excellent
Being picky - mosquitoes in bedroom keeping us awake buzzing around your ears (had to keep windows open with curtains drawn due to the heat), poor bathroom (roof/shower head too low to get under and it dripped noisily all night, very slow flow of water in sink)
location, friendly staff, Very beautiful grounds ,swimming pool
Lovely staff but a little slow to clear up plates after bar meal and during breakfast-- jus inexperience I think. Bath and shower rather grotty
gardens, atmosphere, breakfast, bathroom, pool, helpful staff
hotel frequently hosts weddings and people attending can be rather noisy and sometimes consume (too) much alcohol; for this visit our room faced a small courtyard with the rooms on the other side as the only view
The staff were especially helpful and the room was big and welcoming
Everything was excellent
I was at the hotel for a wedding, so got a reduced price but even that was ridiculously too high, especially for a student
Location was ideal on the edge of the village and overlooking the river valley. Rooms clean, very comfortable beds, staff very friendly. Our room had a lovely view over the fields and down the valley. A great find.
The pool Good seating Relaxed atmosphere
Planks and slate used instead of plates for some dishes Dangerous exit from drive Noise from kitchen extractor
We have stayed at Deans Place previously and love its' facilities and the comfort afforded. We dined in the hotel on the first night and the food was excellent. We chose this hotel in the first place because of it's proximity to Glyndebourne.
The wine chosen at dinner was unavailable and the alternative suggested was less than satisfactory and rejected. The dessert wine requested was not sufficiently chilled. All this was unfortunate but will not stop us going back !
Relaxed Good value
The location was perfect for us and the scenery stunning for southern England. Didn't take advantage of any of the facilities as a long drive made us tired and early to bed after a delicious dinner.
Perhaps because there was a wedding reception taking place but reception was unattended on arrival and it took some time to attract a member of staff
Location Atmosphere Helpful staff
Wedding party made the room noisy and that made it difficult to get to sleep (we were warned about the wedding before we booked)
The pool is great, quick dip before the great choice of breakfast is recommended.with luck you will meet the lovely lady who wrote a book on the history of Deans Place, ask reception for a copy, interesting reading.
Steak in bar was a bit hit and miss.
Setting. Room comfortable. Breakfast choice and service.
Noisy deliveries in the early mornings.
Excellent location, comfortable room, good breakfast, dog friendly.
Pleasant, quiet & lovely garden. Plenty of information about places of interest to visit. Staff very helpful. Relaxing atmostphere.
Beautiful gardens, set in lovely countryside and lovely swimming pool.
Rather tired bathroom but perfectly serviceable.
