Relaxing in th bar by the fire.
Bathroom was very small and I banged my head getting in and out of the bath for a shower!
The breakfast was fantastic, staff really helpful and friendly and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will be back .
the relaxed atmosphere, the tasty food, and the comfy bed. Staff all friendly. We had our Grandaughter and her parents visit and all had a good meal in the relaxed surroundings around the bar area. Most enjoyable.
Good food, friendly helpful staff. Extremely dog friendly. Very comfortable and relaxed
Food poor.Chef's day off?

The gin menu and the great value for money. All the staff were lovely. Very impressed.
Attentive staff. Nice bar area with real fire and newspapers and comfy seats. Great breakfast. Good food (better than pub grub). Very good value at £38 for a single albeit it was early Jan and in the week so the place was empty.
Bed wasn't the most comfortable... or it could have been the room wasn't terribly warm. At any rate I woke a couple of times in the night despite having walked a fair way that day. Good room otherwise tho.
The hotel is clean and stylish (downstairs!). Food was excellent, but expensive.
The room was very pokey, there was just enough room to get round the bed. The carpet was threadbare in places. An interesting smell emanated from the cupboard! The fire alarm went off twicw, once at 6.30 a.m. and all had to assemble outside in the cold. The bill was wrong three times! Eventuaslly they got it right, but no reduction for the dawn fire alarm. Would not stay again.
We enjoyed the freindliness of the staff and the excellent quality of the bar food, as well as the relaxed atmosphere especially in the lounge/bar area. Deans Place is a favorite hotel for us and we will return.
The mattress was too soft (Room 15) The fire alarm went off on Sunday morning (4th January) at 6:15am and a number of us evacuated the building. We were eventually told that it was a false alrm and we could return to our rooms. Surprisingly there was no apology from the management. I mentioned it to the Reception staff when I checked out and they were indifferent about it. (The alarm also went off early Friday evening but stopped quite quickly)
I stayed in Dean's Place whilst visiting family who live in Alfriston and having stayed at all the other establishments in this delightful village this hotel came up trumps. Beautiful surroundings, friendly and efficient staff, very comfortable room and gorgeous food. I thoroughly recommend a stay here.
Nothing to dislike - all wonderful
Amazing location, great food, good service..
Be warned - no mobile phone signal, so frustrating to either have to pay exorbitant land line charges or use pay phone in the hall. Wi-Fi variable, so not a place for business.
The most comfortable bed you could wish for. Fantastic breakfast freshly cooked. Friendly staff.
Excellent breakfast. Very polite, helpful staff. Room on ground floor for disabled family member.
Hotel in general was good. Bar staff were particularly courteous and helpful.
Service in the restaurant for breakfast was poor. Slow, required repeated reminders and corrections.
Very friendly, helpful and polite staff. A nice and peaceful haven.
pleasant break from work
no phone signal
What a delightful find, beautiful location, lovely room, choice of teas in the room. Breakfast was one of the best I have had in a long time!!
nothing! Just wish I had an excuse to go back again!!!
Really comfortable hotel, welcoming staff, good breakfast. Really enjoyed our short break.
Shower Room Size
Our room had an excellent view of the Downs and was large and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was all you-could-eat and well thought out.
We thought the evening meals were a bit pricey, so we went to one of the village pubs instead.
Lovely location, attentive staff. Excellent breakfast.
Tap which dripped all night. Ill fitting metal windows would have been draughty if it had been colder.
Myself and my partner went for our 3rd anniversary and we had a wonderfull time pleasant staff beautiful venue couldnt ask for more.
Furniture in room and breakfast

The staff were excellent and friendly, the atmosphere in the bar was good.
The ambience in the restaurant was cold (but Tania and Klarissa did all they could to make up for it). The food was distinctly average: lamb wasn't tender, beef wasn't tasty. The plumbing needs attention - loo didn't flush properly, shower wasn't good. If we had had to pay full price for this, we would have been hugely miffed as opposed to just disappointed.
