Excellent breakfast. Very polite, helpful staff. Room on ground floor for disabled family member.
Hotel in general was good. Bar staff were particularly courteous and helpful.
Service in the restaurant for breakfast was poor. Slow, required repeated reminders and corrections.
Very friendly, helpful and polite staff. A nice and peaceful haven.
pleasant break from work
no phone signal
What a delightful find, beautiful location, lovely room, choice of teas in the room. Breakfast was one of the best I have had in a long time!!
nothing! Just wish I had an excuse to go back again!!!
Really comfortable hotel, welcoming staff, good breakfast. Really enjoyed our short break.
Shower Room Size
Our room had an excellent view of the Downs and was large and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was all you-could-eat and well thought out.
We thought the evening meals were a bit pricey, so we went to one of the village pubs instead.
Lovely location, attentive staff. Excellent breakfast.
Tap which dripped all night. Ill fitting metal windows would have been draughty if it had been colder.
Myself and my partner went for our 3rd anniversary and we had a wonderfull time pleasant staff beautiful venue couldnt ask for more.
Furniture in room and breakfast
Holes in curtains
The staff were excellent and friendly, the atmosphere in the bar was good.
The ambience in the restaurant was cold (but Tania and Klarissa did all they could to make up for it). The food was distinctly average: lamb wasn't tender, beef wasn't tasty. The plumbing needs attention - loo didn't flush properly, shower wasn't good. If we had had to pay full price for this, we would have been hugely miffed as opposed to just disappointed.
Beautiful historic hotel in a quaint village setting. Large roomy hotel room and bathroom the comfort of the bed was second to none. No trouble sleeping whatsoever other than the local owl hooting throughout the night. Excellent breakfast would definitely stay again when traveling on the ferry from Newhaven.
Superb cuisine. Imaginative menu using seasonal produce, especially pigeon and pheasant. Stunning presentation of food on unusual plates. An intensity of tastes for the palate and a joy to the eye. Dining at Dean's Place Hotel is a delight.
The location and the relaxed atmosphere.
The room was rather small.
breakfast service dreadful
big room, comfortable bed, great breakfast
Prices for food are little bit too high
Service staff food value for money ease of access from ferry at newhaven I would recommend both the hotel and the ease of booking it with booking.com and when people travel to see us in France I am going to recommend this route because of the hotel
When we arrived the staff were welcoming and efficient, an hour after checking in we had staff knock on the bedroom door to see if we required any more tea/coffee etc. We did not eat in the restaurant although I have another reservation booked and we will next time as we found eating in the village very limiting. There is lovely area to sit and relax after your evening meal. I felt the layout of the hotel was very good, the atmosphere relaxing and the staff very attentive and friendly.
There was not anything about the hotel that we did not like, we walked into the village in the evening and the pavements were not lit, the village is very quaint but not particularly good for eating places although the hotel seems to have a perfectly good restaurant.
The staff were excellent
Staff we encountered were all excellent both in attitude & service. Breakfast buffet layout was one of the best we've come across. Food was excellent.
The wine prices were a bit steep (as with many restaurants).
As listed above, staff, food, village. In particular a young Danish? blond lady was superb, nothing was too much trouble.
This the second time we have filled this out
Location and gardens. It had a nice bar and lounge area. the bedrooms were nice
The original part of the hotel is pretty but the added on bedrooms are slightly sixties looking from the outside
Very good overnight stay would be a great place for longer if you want to walk the South Downs way
On arrival staff were welcoming.Bedroom was very comfortable and room heating was on as it was a chilly afternoon.Had a good nights sleep and in the morning there was a good breakfast selection.
I only have one minor criticism and that was that one of my pillows was very hard. This actually seems to be the case at many hotels lately.
