The staff were excellent
Staff we encountered were all excellent both in attitude & service. Breakfast buffet layout was one of the best we've come across. Food was excellent.
The wine prices were a bit steep (as with many restaurants).
As listed above, staff, food, village. In particular a young Danish? blond lady was superb, nothing was too much trouble.
This the second time we have filled this out
Location and gardens. It had a nice bar and lounge area. the bedrooms were nice
The original part of the hotel is pretty but the added on bedrooms are slightly sixties looking from the outside
Very good overnight stay would be a great place for longer if you want to walk the South Downs way
On arrival staff were welcoming.Bedroom was very comfortable and room heating was on as it was a chilly afternoon.Had a good nights sleep and in the morning there was a good breakfast selection.
I only have one minor criticism and that was that one of my pillows was very hard. This actually seems to be the case at many hotels lately.
Good sized room Lovely garden views
Poor bedside lighting Poor noise insulation from adjacent room
Welcoming staff. Excellent clean and very quiet room at front of house-slept very late for us! A roaring log fire in bar, good ale and prompt meal service. Breakfast in restaurant was quickly served and non-greasy. Plenty of coffee.
Eating in bar at low table was a little uncomfortable and expensive.
Upgraded from single to double room based on availability. Excellent bar food, breakfast and service.
No hand shower
Location, style, comfort, beautiful grounds including putting green and croquet lawn. Short walk into the old historic village of Alfriston. Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Enjoyed the bar food at night and an excellent breakfast in the morning. Excellent value for money at £55 bed and breakfast.
Not only very patchy wifi, but also no mobile telephony signal in and around the hotel, although this is probably not their fault. Room and bathroom was looking a little bit tired with the odd broken and cracked tile.
Excellent staff, nothing was too much trouble. They were really exceptionally helpful and displayed excellent tenacity in following up enquiries made. Breakfast was super, a good selection of options available. There is no phone signal, but I was given free use of the land line to make an outside call. Beautiful gardens, ample parking and free wifi. Great stay.
It was cold in my room in the evening as the heating was not operational. I was offered a fan heater, which I felt was a decent gesture to compensate for the premature external temperature drop.
Nice place for relax
Friendliness of staff.Comfortable bed.Good bar food
Ambiance. Peaceful atmosphere.
Bar closes too early, 21.30!
Deans is an attractive building and very comfortable. Most of the staff were very efficient and helpful, but reception staff were somewhat brusque.
Furnishings were a little tired and needed updating. A rather unhygienic smell was pervasive in the bedroom. We were awoken every morning by a loud extractor fan from the kitchen below.
The surprise when the staff knocked on the door in the evening to query whether I needed more tea-bags milk and sugar This Hotel is ideally located for the South Downs Walk and walks to Seaford and The Seven Sisters chalk cliffs.
The boiler going on and off in the room next to me, Room 33
it's very warm & welcoming & our room was very nice we was attending a wedding & enjoyed our stay thankyou .
very slow bar service-often no one in sight
Location Local walks Dog friendly Large room
No mobile reception in the hotel at all Wi-Fi didn't work in room and very poor elsewhere in hotel - useless for business traveller
The location Relaxed atmosphere Pleasant and friendly staff Excellent food and interesting menu
access to some rooms is difficult
The quiet; the location (Alfriston is lovely); the breakfast; the WiFi.
The view from our room - disappointing.
Staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful. Food was allround delicious with plenty choice.
Setting, quality of food, service, helpful staff
Would have preferred an indoor swimming pool.
location, staff, food and atmosphere.
Room was a little dated but comfortable. Bar menu could do with updating.
Excellent service particularly for breakfast, also only a short walk to the village
Having to leave
