The Deddington ArmsHorsefair, OX15 0SH Deddington (Show map) Very good, Score from 44 reviews“The peacefulness of Deddington, visiting the castle etc. It was very close to my family's house in King's Sutton and we were there for a reunion and needed extra rooms. The breakfast was reasonable, it was good to get a newspaper each morning. Everything was ready on time and was clean.”

Well appointed room, a little too warm due to underfloor heating I found cooked breakfast sausage came out too fast and too cool to have been freshly cooked, but poached egg was cooked as requested. Reliable place for a short stay - reception staff very helpful

The location was great for us and the village with it's choice of pubs and restaurants was good. The room was very very warm and this was October! We could have opened the windows but as we were on the ground floor we felt that this would have left us vunerable so spent two nights so hot that it was more like the continent than Oxfordshire. Rooms were a little grubby and the fixtures cheap. The toilet seat was of the cheapest plastic and was very loose. We also felt like we had walked into the Slaughtered Lamb when we walked into the bar, very unwelcoming locals! We asked if we could book for dinner in the restaurant on the first night but were told that we should have booked earlier (we had just arrived!) and we could only eat if we sat down immediately which we did. We decided to skip starters but we still felt rushed and unwelcome.

Friendly inforamative and helpful staff Faultless location - lovely village The decor in the bedroom was tired and dated The bath water when in shower mode did not drain properly The flush on the toilet was faulty Cold having breakfasts due to through draught - all doors open. We would have preferred to move to a lass exposed position but there were no table available.

Very convenient for Oxford and Blenheim Palace. At the gateway to the Cotswolds. Better value for money than staying in Oxford. Good food and excellent service. Our room was rather hot, although we could open the windows and use a fan.

The four poster bed was unexpected but a nice touch. Bathroom wall had blood splatter on the tiles, the window cill hadn't been cleaned in years. The breakfast ingredients appeared very cheap. We later saw that there is an award winning butcher in the village, I'm sure that a deal could be struck that the hotel advertises its breakfast as award winning ingredients from there and the butcher gives a reciprocal discount.

Rooms were comfortable, reasonably priced. We were on a b&b basis and the full English breakfast was good! Ample car parking off road. Couple of faults to equipment in room but this was dealt with quickly by staff. Our purpose was to attend a family wedding nearby and this suited our needs, unable to comment on it's suitability for other purposes. Rooms were quite warm really despite nothing heating wise being turned on, this was possibly due to hot water pipes under the floor perhaps. A bit warm for us but others perhaps not, we could open the window tho! Hopefully the TV's will be upgraded on change over to digital!

The serving staff in the restaurant were most attentive and pleasant and the dining room provided a lovely environment for dinner. The general ambience of the hotel was also very pleasing. We felt the room was rather gloomy (25), badly situated and there was no soundproofing! Hence, we could hear every move the people upstairs made, including a bathroom visit in the middle of the night - not nice! Also, although the food in the restaurant was very good indeed, we felt the portions were too small and therefore not really 'value for money'. We thought the pork belly, listed as accompanied by 'sweet potato gnochi', for example, could have provided more than about 4 pieces. Not enough to satisfy a hungry customer.

The breakfast was reasonable, it was good to get a newspaper each morning. Everything was ready on time and was clean. The service in the breakfast area was not your strongest point. Also, there were no grapefruit segments though they were on the menu.

Hotel was located in a small village with easy access to Oxford / Banbury - it had been an old coaching inn with all the charm of yester year.Very friendly staff and hotel was kept very clean and well maintained. Only down side was the diner menu - there was a lack of choice if you are a meat eater.

Close to the Silverstone track which is why we were there. Decent, if basic room. Only five channels on the T.V. Very expensive - not worth £400 for two nights.

Quiet village location and good atmosphere The bath seemed to have been polished. When you add water the surface became exceptionally slippery. The bath mat was useless. My own experience was that my right leg is very badly bruised and painful. Once in the bath, trying to turn whilst showering resulted in almost toppling out of the bath.

The Menu Dim lighting in room, no decent mirror in room to apply make up. (doing it in a steamy bathroom is not ideal), Broken window lock, beautiful old bed but rubbish mattress. Bricks as doorstops!!! Lethal in a dimly lit room with barefeet!
