The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very nice with a sea view, the only fault being the mattress was very hard and uncomfortable. Plenty of tea, sugar and milk in the room. Although we did not have an evening meal the breakfast was very good with plenty to eat. Have stayed here before and will probably stay there again.

Friendly staff bar and Lounge areas are nice but beyond that everything was scruffy, chipped and worn. The bedrooms need a coat of paint, new carpets and new curatins at the very least

Location. The behavior of the staff. We had breakfast included in our package. We had to wait for 40 minutes and had to request thrice before somebody could manage to take the order. The staff out there are simply incompetent!

I never write reviews but we found baby cockroaches in our hotel room just as we were leaving. It was dirty and outdated. We booked a seaview room and our view was a 'side sea view' and all you could really see is a building. Never again would I stay here and I would strongly advise no one else wastes there money here

The location was perfect. The hotel needs a full refurbishment. The decor is out of date and the whole place looks uncared for. The shower in room 112 did not work properly and the temperature was not regulated so it was either far too hot or cold ! The cleaners stripped the bed while we were at breakfast on the day we left before we had a chance to pack properly and check out !

Staff were very good and it could be an excellant hotel again if some work was done to decor and fittings but couldn't recommend it in it's present state sorry. Hotel decor is very very tired and could do with refurbishment as you probably know yourselfs. room maids did not do a very good job on replenishing coffee / biscuits etc

The view from the sea view rooms was spectacular, and worth the extra few pounds. The lounges were very homely and comfortable. I have nothing bad to say about this hotel.

I asked for a room on a high floor to be given a loft room. Paid an additional £5 for a sea view - had to stand on the bed to view the sea... As a director of sales and marketing for a group of london hotels, I find the policy of checking in at 4pm unusual. I arrived shortly prior to policy check in time, obviously rooms where ready but alas they would not let me in for love nor money.... Check out at 10 am - very early..... I was worried that Scarborough was full due to lack of availability on line however scores of bed & breakfasts adjacent to this hotel had many rooms to let at much better rates.. Avoid

The hotel room windows had obviously been recently replaced. The wooden double glazed units looked great. The early morning racket caused by the herring gulls was completely eliminated when we closed the window. The hotel was grotty, the condition of the actual bed was shocking. The blanket was soiled, although the sheets were spotless. Shower and bathroom shelf had mildew. Clearly a great deal of money needs to be spent to bring this place up to even 2 star standard. The breakfast was poor. We discussed these issues with the Manager / Owner when we booked out, not as a complaint, but to share our experience. This was met with dis-interest.

The view was the best thing.... It's very dated and in need of attention..The breakfast was no better, everyone crammed in at the same time.. The couple Nxt to us had to prop their table up with their car keys, as it was so wobbly.. We actually called this place Faulty Towers!!!

The only thing we liked about the hotel was its location. Breakfast was served promptly Unfortunately the sea view was cancelled out by the unclean windows. The carpet in our room was filthy. The bed was at an angle toward the headboard, and the top blanket was riddled with holes, the decor was old and tatty, and the door lock was loose to the point of falling off. The staircase access door opened outward into the stairwell instead of in to the landing (very dangerous) Breakfast was not as warm as expected only the egg was cooked fresh.

An old property (like most others in Scarborough), but with great location, friendly staff and comfortable bar and sitting area. Very nice for a quick weekend getaway. Perfect for people who like to walk along the coast, up hills or through town. Good value for a break from the city and chance to experience a wonderful seaside town.

Recently refurbished with a lovely smell of fresh paint First room the toilet didn't flush so we got an upgrade to a room with a tepid shower and a sink with no plug. Going back down to reception to hire a remote control for the tv was just great.
