The room was tired, dilapedated and stunk of cigarette smoke. The wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling off, the net curtain was black, no shower and the toilet was dirty and stained. I always question the use of carpets in a bathroom. The only saving grace was that the tv worked and I was able to drown out the noise and singing coming from the bar below. I booked for 3 nights and checked out after 1.

The bed itself was clean and comfortable. Tv and kettle worked fine. Public areas were pleasant. Breakfast was very nice. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The bedroom corridors and my bedroom itself were scruffy, run down, very grubby looking and badly in need of refurbishment. The en suite had a bath but no shower, not even a hand held one fitted into a hole in the tub that was clearly designed for that purpose. The room may well have been cleaned but it looked dirty: the carpet worn and stained, traces of black moult around the skirting boards and window frame. One window wouldn't shut totally. (I did give my feedback, both good and bad, to the hotel staff before I left.)

De Parys is a beautiful, Victorian family mansion house badly converted into a pub and hotel. The main bedroom was a very large double with a table and wardrobe. Lots of space. Ideal for backpackers who don't really care where they sleep. The was lots of hot water to the bath (No shower) and the heating was very effective. My room had no shower which wasn't advertised on the website and really stunk of heavy tobacco smoke. There were even tobacco butts on the carpet beneath the window which the cleaners had missed which suggests that guests are allowed to smoke in rooms. Areas of the room hadn't been cleaned in years..literally. There was no sound insulation and I could clearly hear every footstep of the people in the room above. This is a place which is more suitable for a stag weekend or back packers or travellers who need a cheap place to stay (£30 for a single room).

Hotels location was very good. Only a short walk into the high street. Also provided parking. Which is always handy. Hotel was very dated. The staff were nice enough although I only saw 1 member of staff the whole time I was there. Room was very basic. Double bed was just 2 beds pushed together. Both of different heights so wasn't a try comfortable night. Bathroom wasn't very clean. Had mildew in shower and cobwebs behind the toilet. Also anytime we ran water there was a terrifyingly loud noise. Although this hotel was only cheap I did expect more and wouldn't be trying there again.

As non- smokers we were very disappointed to find that the corridor outside our room and the room itself stank of smoke during the whoe duration of our stay. The noise coming from the bar outside our window where there seemed to be a party going on was very loud up to midnight. We had other guests making a noise outside our room which woke us up at three in the morning. The quality of the decor and furniture in our room was very poor and the bathroom needed re-furnishing - very poor quality and very small in size. The front door to the hotel was open all through the night and there was no staff at the reception which meant that security was non existent. To say the least this was the worst hotel we have every stayed in and would not reccommend it to anyone. .

Wonderful old building with lad windows around, you can see that this house have seen better times. I don´t know where the peoples stoud, making all the reviews. Booking an en suited room for 29 pounds, in the middle of a town, free parking, full breakfast. Can you await a luxus hotel? I was happy there, nice peoples, nice bar for the evening, fair prices. Lack of cleaning

very little This hotel is tird and in need of a revamp. The carpet of my bedroom was dirty ,the windows were covered in paint. There were tea making facilities but alas no cups. The bathroom was a disgrace and not fit for a hotel at any level. No shower, the light above the sink did not work, the taps were dirty and the two plastic cups in the bathroom were also dirty. I would never stay at or reccomend this hotel to any one.

The bed was very comfortable and the room was a good size, lots of space! The shower was out of action but I was able to shower in another room so it didn't matter too much.

Only the location. Decoration. Lack of facilities such as a shower. The overall state of the room (hanging smoke alarm on the ceiling, wallpaper hanging off, lack of cleanliness throughout the bedroom facilities) etc.....

Here I as asked to write things I liked about the Hotel, well err... Nothing, its a dump and needs burning down. Not even the Hotel Inspector could recover this one..... Here is my complaint, well to call yourself a Hotel is a crime, the place is a dump. I have stayed in better Hostles in 3rd Word countrys that are better. Not even the Hotel Inspector could turn it around. Turn the rooms in to flats and run it as a knocking shop.....

Leaving It was a builders hotel, dirty and poor service, if any. The room was filthy and there was no shower attachment, I dont mean no shower just no attachment water poored from a whole when I tried to use it. The carpets looked like somone had walked in from a factory floor with oily boots on and the chair had paint all over it. It was lucky I got in late as in the morning I found the duvet cover had blood splashes on. I did not ask if there was breakfast and wasnt offered any, but I think this was a good thing.

“Booked Business / Exec double room, which was modern, clean, with panoramic river view. Staff and car parking VG. Convenient for town, sightseeing and shops. (this important for my wife, whilst I attended to business meeting). Dined out with local friends and did not therefore use dining room, but enjoyed convenience of breakfast served in room.” Ivor, Norwich |
