This brand-new hotel is situated within the heart of the beautiful Lake District scenery, overlooked by the impressive fells and mountains. It offers stylish, modern rooms and an all-day coffee shop.

Score from 135 reviews Excellent
On the edge of the Lake District, Shepherds Hotel offers a modern bar, ample free parking and spacious rooms. The center of Cockermouth is just a mile away.
Score from 372 reviews Very good
Excellent food, lovely pool, friendly and warm staff, great location, away from the crowds but not too remote and within easy distance of great walks and good shopping. Would definitely come back
the spa treatments were not well marketed, and if they had been desired, there was not dedicated space in the hotel, and would have taken place in Cockermouth, which would have been disappointing if I had gone with spa treatments in mind
only had one night but it was a very good night the staff were very helpful. the room was very comfy. we did have a meal in the restaurants that was very nice service was great.
pool was a bit cold and the hot tub was not working
The accommodation was very spacious and of a good standard.
The restricted swimming times and I felt the accommodation was over priced
Beautiful location. Staff were helpful, the apartment was perfect for 4 adults one of whom is elderly. They state it can sleep 8. This would be very cosy.
Swimming pool only available to guests at certain hours. Restaurant was mediocre
Large, spacious apartment. Good breakfast.
Just not the standard we were expecting for the price £230 per night. All facilities were there & staff friendly enough there but without the efficiency & finesse of a 4 star hotel which, we realised is the part we most enjoy about a hotel sale. Hotel is located very close to a busy main road which was my major bug bear.
Staff commitment to providing a warm, friendly welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for them Kitchen facilities in our apartment excellent. Tea and coffee in the lounge/bar was complimentary
The location was great and the staff were very helpful and friendly the breakfasts were very nice with lots of variety. the apartment was spacious and clean and the super shower was to die for.
The apartment we were in was above the front door which banged shut at all hours, not the hotels fault but there was a stag party there that rolled in drunk at 3am and woke us up. we had dinner in the room which was cold and there seemed to be a shortage of breakfast staff. Not sure it warrants the high price paid.
Lovely family suite - separate area for kids. Good breakfast and friendly staff.
Very limited times for use of swimming pool as it is run separately to the hotel.
Great food & ideal swimming pool for kids. Good, well appointed apartments.
Swimming pool only available at set times.
Limited pool times
Location superb Staff super friendly Food excellent Amazing breakfast Would recommend to everyone
Room little small
Spacious, comfortable rooms and a homely atmosphere in the restaurant and bar with the added bonus of being able to sit outside in the sunshine and enjoy the view. Although close to the main road, we didn't find this intrusive. Staff were friendly and food was of a good quality and well presented.
Staff food views
Hot tub not working was really expensive for taxis if you wanted to eat out of the hotel, shower temp dial wasn't working properly my partner was nearly scolded the hotel didn't have a spa like it said it did on website we had to phone the locAl salon and ask them to come to us.
Facilities and Staff were excellent
The staff were particularly welcoming and all very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Pool was good too.
Occasional noises filtered through from other rooms.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was pretty good too: I had lamb shank for dinner, and it was very nice, but the summer fruit waffle was wonderful!
Great Staff, great food, comfy bed, good views, lovely poll and steam room
Hot tub needed some tlc
Staff were attentive and friendly quiet environment Food truly excellent
bed far too soft limited access to pool/steam/hot tub which was disappointing baring in mind a spa hotel jets on hot tub not working
+ the location (amazing scenery) + the very kind and helpful staff + the fresh food at the restaurant + the swimming pool/heating room and the gym + the excellent night sleep (comfy beds and very quiet)
- the opening hours of the swimming pool were not very convenient.
I liked the friendliness of the staff and the accommodating atmosphere.
Other guests weren't to friendly but that is no fault of the Hotel.
The staff were all perfectly pleasant and helpful. Not sure I could recommend to others just on the basis of the staff!
Breakfast on both mornings was extremely slow. On the first morning we gave our order in advance so as to avoid a last minute rush in the kitchen but it made no difference. On the 2nd morning we had to lay our own table and waited almost an hour to be served. Mattresses were too soft for me!!
Extremely friendly and helpful staff who made up for any shortcomings, the location/view, the breakfast choice, the free tea/coffee and cake upon arrival and the pool - despite limited usage times.
I would stay again - largely due to the views and the staff. However, I wouldn't say this was a four star hotel - our toilet stuck after flushing, causing it to run for minutes; the rooms were very warm with the heating off, but facing onto the A66 meant it was too noisy to leave the window open; the pool is lovely but I would suggest that the times when it's in use by kids is when most guests would want to use it; the hot tub wasn't working (with no explanation); our TV would cut out randomly on terrestrial channels and there were many signs of aging decor in our room and the hotel's public areas.
No where to hang towels - so towels remained damp
We loved everything, it was a perfect get away with all necessities in the kitchen, perfect for our barbeque on the spacious balcony.
