The hotel has a "back in time" feel about it, which we enjoyed. A bonus is that there's a lift for heavy suitcase travellers. Meals were very acceptable. Parking across the way turned out to be quite handy.
The staff throughout the hotel were excellent. Very friendly and helpful, and as it was my birthday I was made to feel very special they even left fruit and a card in our room.
It was a little out of the way and not much to do in the immediate vicinity.
The view from our room was excellent , such a pea full and quiet location
Could hear noise in the hallway during the night
Location, big room with lake view, nice breakfast.
Location Staff Lounge with the bar
Bit dated facility and showed not easy to use.
A well ran hotel with excellent staff. Accommodation and food are good quality. Location good for a number of Lakeland walks. 20 minute walk into Keswick.
Nothing to dislike
Perfect location. It's near the town, keswick bus station, The marina, and if you like hiking you can explore some amazing walks not far from the hotel. There's a lovely bridge and river near the hotel that is captivating. We stayed in a twin room and its spacious. Comfortable enough if you're in for a relaxing time. I love the eastern european staffs! :) They are polite and caring! :)
Only suggestions:) 1. We stayed at rm 240. Check the shower head coz' its angle is too far down from the tub and water is pouring out. 2. We checked out at 7am & will missed our breakfast & we arranged for a takeaway. Its better that during check-in confirm the check- out time and its more corteous to offer this option if the guests will missed out breakfast on the day of check out. 3) Evaluatio forms must be given durinh check-in or must be left in the room in the day of arrival so that we can fill it in and won't missed it out :)
All staff were extremely courteous and efficient. Food was fine. The bed was very comfortable.
Throughout the hotel the decor was not very appealing the subdued colour scheme appeared drab and uninteresting. Our deluxe bedroom was spoiled by repairs needed in the bathroom and the strange mixture of coloured furniture in the lounge area.
Everything about the Derwent Water Hotel was spot on and from our arrival when the very friendly receptionist asked us if we had had a good journey and then said 'We have upgraded you from a select room to a Premier Plus with a Lake View' things got even better.
Having to leave!!!
Perfect Location, close to Keswick, good food. Very spacious room. Nice garden and view at the rear. Friendly staff.
The bed was a little too soft, although I understand the rooms are gradually being refurbished. The room door, (112) rattled a bit when people walked across the floor above.
The staff, in particular on reception, were extremely helpful and efficient. Other staff members were also polite and helpful.
We would have preferred a buffet hot course at breakfast. However the plated version was of good quality and was presented well.
Very friendly staff and comfortable hotel. Room price we had - very good value for money. This is not a 5* which is reflected in the price but the staff seemed to work hard to deliver a very good service. Lovely location
Location. Excellent staff. Good public rooms
Gloomy dining room at breakfast time. TV sound in bedroom bad Lack of comfortable chairs in bedroom
Really good shower which was very easy to operate with plenty of hot water. Comfortable bed.
The swimming pool.....sauna etc was a added treat and made the stay worthwile!!
This could be the time of year but it did seem to cater for elder clients me and the wife are middleaged....but the facitity in the hotel was fine
Price not bad for Keswick area Quiet location, 5 mins walk from lakeshore, 20 mins from Keswick town centre
Our room and hotel in general quite 'tired' Breakfast poor
Hotel was in a lovely, peaceful, tranquil setting overlooking the lake with a nice big carpark. The room was really comfortable and quiet. Only about 15 mins walk to Keswick.
The location - fabulous views and an ideal spot from which to start our walks, we didn't need to use the car at all during our stay. The bar and reception staff were friendly, polite and helpful.A very relaxed atmosphere.
The restaurant! It was too noisy and too open, the tables were too close together and offered little privacy. One member of staff came across as brusque and unhelpful - my partner asked for another pint of beer alongside our wine order, the waitress was reluctant to go to the bar so he had to go and get his own!!
Shower was little more than a dribble kept going hot and cold and even stopping
Location, friendliness of the staff, spacious bedroom. Good breakfast with plenty of choice. Booked the day before and got a good price for b&b. watching the ducks on the lawn in the morning!!
The shower in room 204 was very poor, the water trickled out! There are a few areas within the hotel that need attention ie: flakey plaster in the dining room around the windows. A damp patch above the bed in our room.
Loved the location lovely grounds and friendly staff!
Our room was above restaurant and a little noisy at times
An overnight stay that was tremendous value
Room a little on the warm side
