Welcoming and helpful staff, good breakfast
Internet connection was a little unreliable. Difficult to get shower in bathroom to run at a comfortable temperature
Comfortable, modern room. A tasty full English/continental breakfast included. Lovely breakfast/dining/bar area. Staff were very friendly. Good value for money.
We had a lovely large room, but we stopped in a triple room for 2 of us and worth paying a tiny bit extra for the space. Was very clean apart from a couple of things in the bathroom.
Parking was limited when hotel was full. We had to park on the road. Parking spaces to small causing banging of car doors in other cars. More attention to cleaning in bathroom. Was dirty on bottom of shower screen and under taps, just needed a little more attentiveness as i got a piece of toilet roll and cleaned the bit of dirt of with ease. Breakfast was dry and limited choice.
Excellent service and very helpful staff in all areas. Nothing was too much trouble. Will certainly book here again.
The heating went off a little too early in the bar area.
Location - quiet village. Near family, who we were visiting. Good access from main road. Staff very pleasant and evening meal was good.
Restaurant and bar lacked atmosphere. Room was badly finished - many holes and gaps from poor workmanship. Mould around window and on bathroom ceiling.
The Location and view were great
The location, ambience, service, food
Suggest a change of mattress and upgrade of bathroom.
Location Staff friendliness
Room was tired looking... needed new décor and bathroom too Bar food was basic
Friendly and helpful staff Value for money Pet friendly
Free parking.Nice bar& restaurant.Good size rooms.Good quiet location.Very clean.Good price.
Narrow parking bays.Only 1 disabled bay.Unimpressive front entrance.Dull colours on room walls.Bed needs replaced:loose rattly headboard& very worn mattress& base.
Friendly staff. Great location
Our double room had two large windows, but due to ground floor location on the corner of the road and car park the windows were frosted and gave the room a gloomy and claustrophobic feel. We did ask to move but no other suitable rooms were available. The room was comfortable enough and as we used it only to sleep it was ok.... But would have preferred a view and would have preferred to have been advised that there was no outlook when we booked.... Although this would have meant we would not have booked this hotel.
Lovely location, very quiet & peaceful surroundings. Staff were very helpful, excellent breakfast & quality service. The use of Oxleys Spa was an added bonus, totally pampered and relaxed.
Location ok breakfast was good parking adequate
Radiator not working in room on first night and when working not on long enough . Wifi rubbish wasnt available in room and patchy in the one room allocated for it
Excellent Hotel, Peaceful Location, Great Facilities & Lovely Staff. Really enjoyed our stay, we booked another night as we enjoyed it so much !!! Oxleys Health Spa was a very Welcome Bonus x Loved our stay.
Wonderful views from the room. Portislade's position in relation to keswick
Breakfast was OK. Staff OK ...egg shell on the hard poached egg...so the quality of the cooking could have been better and the staff a little more engaged.
Cost or room was very good, location was OK although the nice pictures are not what you see as a first impression. The room and the bathroom were clean and comfortable.
The view of the bins but then again the cost was cheap. The food was average quality at prices which meant it should have been better.
staff are great very friendly and helpful
rooms was a bit shabby
As a location for walkers it was excellent otherwise nothing much nearby. The staff are attentive and efficient but almost too much. At breakfast I felt I was under surveillance as they swooped to pick up my plates as I finished with them.
All though a bit tired the hotel has charm but this wasn't the case with the bathroom. Felt like I was stepping back into the 70's and the repairs looked as if they'd been done by a 5 year old. I didn't watch much TV which was just as well because the reception quite regularly faded.
View room bathroom space location
parking noise from corridor rubbish in the Chinese vases in the corridors
Excellent staff, especially at breakfast which was run efficiently and without fuss. Short walk into Keswick
Great location staff very friendly will defo return
Low key basic enjoyment in a great setting - just what we wanted.
No car parking space in the evening.
The price we paid would not have been so pleased if had to pay full price
Some of the rooms were run down and we were changed over to a better room after first night and that had been modernised. First room heating did not work and mattress on bed was beyond a joke.
The hotel is in a quiet location but only one mile away from Keswick-ideal for us. Our room 152 was very comfortable with a lake view. The staff were very helpful and friendly -from reception to dining room, bar and cleaners.
The car park was not large enough for the needs of the hotel. We tried the set menu but were disappointed (husband said it reminded him of school dinners)so paid extra for more choice. Even so we felt the food to be disappointing.
Relaxed atmosphere. Comfortable room. Good breakfast menu.
Bathroom was very cramped (room 205). Shower took some working out!!
