Location, friendliness of the staff, spacious bedroom. Good breakfast with plenty of choice. Booked the day before and got a good price for b&b. watching the ducks on the lawn in the morning!!
The shower in room 204 was very poor, the water trickled out! There are a few areas within the hotel that need attention ie: flakey plaster in the dining room around the windows. A damp patch above the bed in our room.
Loved the location lovely grounds and friendly staff!
Our room was above restaurant and a little noisy at times
An overnight stay that was tremendous value
Room a little on the warm side
location friendly staff, helpful with storing my bicycle
bedroom and antiquated shower tatty paintwork in many areas in the hotel lack of wifi apart from communal area noisy staff under our bedroom window and we were on second floor
Very quiet....lovely location.....reception staff friendly...lovely english breakfast....free extra coffee n toast if wanted..overall excellent value for money
Shower was broke so had to have a bath
COULD'NT GET A HOT SHOWER ROOM 258
scenery, location, gardens food, in room facilities
old fashioned in places and needed painting car park to small
Great location.Grounds in full sunshine for a relaxing drink in the afternoon or early evening. Breakfast superb.Very friendly and excellent bar staff.
The room we stayed in requires updating, even so it was comfortable.
Cheap toilet roll
Access to everything in the Lakes
staff and cleanliness cleanliness
Breakfast had poor choice.Very limited.Quantity not great.
Shabby and unkempt building. Young staff, with no sign of any management.
We liked the wonderful views of the hills and surrounding area.
A very lose fitting, rattling bedroom door which made a sound whenever someone walked past in the corridor - disturbing.
Nice modern room Reasonable menu prices Comfortable bed Chocolate and biscuits with tea/coffee in room
Room didn't smell fresh Dogs weren't allowed on lawn areas outside hotel Dogs weren't allowed in buffet area for breakfast
Surroundings and food
Restricted to A la Carte menu, because we only booked dinner after arrival. Brusquely told that there was nothing could be done about it.
The setting of the hotel, with a little-publicized walk through its garden to the edge of beautiful Derwent Water. Attentive staff.
While the bedroom itself was refurbished the bathroom was not, leaving the overall feeling of being in a dated hotel. With investment this could be a very fine hotel in a great location.
Good breakfast served by very polite friendly staff.
Bed was hard and uncomfortable. The mixer shower tap was hard to mix, water was either too hot or cold.
Location and easy access to Keswick
Premium room rather tired
The location is stunning along with the views. Our first time staying in the hotel (we normally stay in the apartments with our dog) Restaurant staff were very helpful when we asked to have breakfast in the conservatory despite their lack of notice.
Room/ bathroom decor was a bit tired. Slightly disappointed with reception misguided info regarding breakfasting in the conservatory.
Great location, lovely gardens and views out of the bedroom window, was extremely cheap to stay!
Needs some updating, a bit shabby around the edges. We couldn't take our dog to breakfast and told to leave him in the room, we asked if we could have our breakfast in the conservatory which was dog friendly but we were told no, they were short on staff. As we were leaving later on though, saw some other guests eating breakfast there.
quiet place , romantic hotel
the hotel photo shown in the site is for the appartments and for the hotel, hotel is much smaller. We have booked two rooms with breakfast and when we take our child (five years old) they charge for the baby although she didn't eat any thing ... when I complained to the manager, he said you have reserved a double room and the child should not stay in the room from the beginning !!!!!
Not a bad location, breakfast was very satisfactory, staff courteous, lovely grounds.
Tired look of inside of hotel, needs money spent on it, as it is very shabby with rucked carpets in places. Also room 104 floor has terrible slope on it and subsidence crack in tiles in bathroom.
