Originally a private home dating back to the early 1900s, Chartridge Lodge offers easy reach to several National Trust properties, the Harry Potter Studio Tour, and many Chiltern Hills walks.
Score from 356 reviews Good
This hotel dates from the Tudor period, but the inside reflects the very best in modern design. It is featured in the film Four Weddings and a Funeral, as well as the TV show Midsomer Murders.
Score from 137 reviews Very good
This traditional country hotel is in the village of Chalfont St. Giles, on the edge of the Chiltern Hills. It has a restaurant, a bar and a free private car park.

Set in 42 acres of beautiful, tranquil parkland, Denham Grove offers stylish and modern accommodation, impressive modern leisure facilities and a convenient location close to the M40 and M25...

staff were absolutely brilliant
We found a chicken bone on our bedroom floor. The hotel could do with a bit of a general scrub and polish as it's looking very tired and in need of a refurb. Our room 403 was very noisy and we were kept awake late into the evening and early morning on the Sat and Sunday.
great place to be able to take our dog, beautiful grounds and large comfortable room
our bathroom was cold and there was a lack of sockets in convenient places
The location is excellent, the rooms are good, there are little things that could be improved with the room like vacuuming in corners and under beds, I had bed linen with a small hole in it, I've stopped here twice in the last 7 months and I'm just going back for a third time next week and in April and May, the staff are helpful and friendly this hotel is not 5 star but its not 5 star prices, but good value for money... If you want the ultimate pay 3 to 4 times the price...
It was everything we needed. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. PLenty of tea and coffee around and use of the pool is a plus. Comfy bed and quiet nights sleep had.
Ideal secluded location. Great surrounding countyside. A real historial feel about the place. Staff were excellent and most helpful. Especially the young guy behind the bar.
Trying to relax in the library/lounge area admiring the views, the TV in the next room was too loud and very distracting. I'd like to think that guests enjoying the ambience of such a lovely place, wouldn't want sport or modern day TV thrust at them especially when they're not even in that particular room.
the pool tables in the bar good idea. and the free coffee machine at the top of the stairs was good.
the bacon was really dry at breakfast. and some parts of the hotel smelled like a hospital.
Location was beautiful
Corridors were in need of repair and decoration and guests were noisy when going to their rooms after midnight
Everything well done staff
warm and friendly atmosphere, good food and wonderful setting/ scenery
nothing to complain off - the worst I could say is that the en-suite extractor fan was abit noisy
We upgraded to the main house and it was well worth the extra £20 per day.
The wifi isn't a good strength in the bedrooms.
Bed reasonably comfortable.
Arrived late in the evening and was upgraded. Would rather they hadn't; long trail through the corridors to old part of the house, heating not working so room very cold and decor dismal. I don't like the ro too warm but this was like an icebox. Nobody answering phone on reception. Had to wrap up to go to bed. Couldn't see view out of the big bay window in the morning as so heavily covered in condensation and still no answer from reception. Breakfast pretty bog standard, not anything like the picture on the website. Was told that was their best room and it was cold because that part of the house is old! Discount offered, but would rather have had a more comfortable stay. Won't use again and can't recommend.
Was not able to use the swimming pool due to being to busy
Great hotel. Stayed overnight before flying out of Heathrow. Much better value and location than airport hotels. Very comfortable night.
Nothing to dislike
Good leisure facilities , nice pool and gym. Very good reception staff. Pleasant country location
Pool was not open till 6.30pm mon, tues , wed nights due to swimming lessons (but was not stated on web site). Bedroom carpet needed a good hoover. Breakfast room was a very long walk from reception.
In all fairness to this venue its hard to say what i liked as i didn't really get to see it (we used the hotel as a convenient middle ground to lay our heads during a very busy and tiring weekend between families. I can only assume that all the other facilities were as i have previously experienced in De Vere venues and as per the internet looked great so i am sorry i cant pass a positive comment on them but that not any fault of the venue.
The room was not clean to the standard you would expect... visibly dirty toilet brush, dust layer on bedside tables and sides (especially the under shelf which was filthy) I knocked my ring off the bed and had to move the bed........ well!! The room looked nothing like the pictures and was just quite tired really.
As my email
Excellent service and polite staff
Staff were friendly
No sign for car park and reception driving in entrance need more signs to find it. More toiletries/tea coffee/ towels. Cracked sink. Bad lights to do writing. Fan in bathroom not strong enough. Lead on hair dryer not long enough. Should have had breakfast included and biscuits in room
Warm welcome and assistance received from staff Staff did everything possible to accommodate requests Well appointed room Beautiful rural location
Room,decor,poorly set out
Staff very friendly and attentive, well presented. Excellent facilities, clean rooms, really good food, would come back and would recommend.
The fact that I was charged a credit card fee. This was NOT stated in the policies and I am upset about it
Third stay at this hotel as the location and price are excellent. I love the swimming pool and the sauna, had the whole place to myself at 8am on Sunday morning. Very nice and friendly staff in the front reception and bar/restaurant areas. The countryside around the hotel is beautiful and we were able to set off on a mini hike after a peaceful swim and a hearty breakfast. great value for money. No doubt we will be returning.
A bit petty but would have liked any extra cover on the bed.
very enjoyable stay, we will certainly be back to enjoy the excellent hospitallity.
