Score from 352 reviews Good
This hotel dates from the Tudor period, but the inside reflects the very best in modern design. It is featured in the film Four Weddings and a Funeral, as well as the TV show Midsomer Murders.
Score from 139 reviews Very good
Great hotel. Stayed overnight before flying out of Heathrow. Much better value and location than airport hotels. Very comfortable night.
Nothing to dislike
Good leisure facilities , nice pool and gym. Very good reception staff. Pleasant country location
Pool was not open till 6.30pm mon, tues , wed nights due to swimming lessons (but was not stated on web site). Bedroom carpet needed a good hoover. Breakfast room was a very long walk from reception.
In all fairness to this venue its hard to say what i liked as i didn't really get to see it (we used the hotel as a convenient middle ground to lay our heads during a very busy and tiring weekend between families. I can only assume that all the other facilities were as i have previously experienced in De Vere venues and as per the internet looked great so i am sorry i cant pass a positive comment on them but that not any fault of the venue.
The room was not clean to the standard you would expect... visibly dirty toilet brush, dust layer on bedside tables and sides (especially the under shelf which was filthy) I knocked my ring off the bed and had to move the bed........ well!! The room looked nothing like the pictures and was just quite tired really.
As my email
Excellent service and polite staff
Staff were friendly
No sign for car park and reception driving in entrance need more signs to find it. More toiletries/tea coffee/ towels. Cracked sink. Bad lights to do writing. Fan in bathroom not strong enough. Lead on hair dryer not long enough. Should have had breakfast included and biscuits in room
Warm welcome and assistance received from staff Staff did everything possible to accommodate requests Well appointed room Beautiful rural location
Room,decor,poorly set out
Staff very friendly and attentive, well presented. Excellent facilities, clean rooms, really good food, would come back and would recommend.
The fact that I was charged a credit card fee. This was NOT stated in the policies and I am upset about it
Third stay at this hotel as the location and price are excellent. I love the swimming pool and the sauna, had the whole place to myself at 8am on Sunday morning. Very nice and friendly staff in the front reception and bar/restaurant areas. The countryside around the hotel is beautiful and we were able to set off on a mini hike after a peaceful swim and a hearty breakfast. great value for money. No doubt we will be returning.
A bit petty but would have liked any extra cover on the bed.
very enjoyable stay, we will certainly be back to enjoy the excellent hospitallity.
Another good nights sleep 1st class place to stay
Location Nice view
We booked a room for under £50! The surroundings were lovely, room very nicely decorated and comfortable. Breakfast was served in the lovely conservatory resataurant and included everything you could think of. The staff were really helpful without being intrusive.
The ensuite was sited next to the head of the bed instead of the foot which was annoying and sleep easily disturbed.
location, peace & quiet, good room, good breakfast, helpful staff
All service was very good, pleasant and attentive. Rooms were serviceable if not exceptional. Food was good and use of the pool/ fitness centre a bonus
The ventilator in our room - m605- didn't work.
Excellent facilities, but unfortunatly I arrived too late to try the gym. The room was comfortable and I had a reasonable nights sleep. What more do you need?
We loved the location and the staff were very friendly.
We were told on arrival we could use the swimming pool but it turned out there was a swimming lesson so we missed out.
Amazing location and unforgettable property take you back hundreds of years in history, good parking area.
We had a room on ground level, basic equipped but enough for one night. What we did not like was, very hard bed, not big enough duvet, smelly bedding, not enough tea and coffee for two adults and toiletries only for one guest. I could not sleep due to a big argument between other guests next door which argued few hours and other guests above our room walking in the middle of night around the room and I could hear every step. Clearly I can not say I had comfy sleep as I slept only few hours. Walls and ceiling need serious sound insulation. Breakfast also was a big disappointment, beacon, egg, black pudding etc very dry due to be left in warming trays. Such lovely property but needs lots of investment inside to rise comfort for guests.
My room different pillow
Needs a little bit of tlc in the dinning room and some paint need to be touched up
Cleanliness of our room, it was dirty and dusty. Safety issues with general layout in annexe building. Large mirror not attached to the wall, bathroom seat not fully attached in the room we moved to on complaint of the cleanliness of room 1. Cold water tap didn't function in our daughter's room, which she was moved to . Checkin and checkout was a shambles, booking not found under lead booking name, which was a booking for 3 rooms. We were invoiced for breakfast we had prepaid.
Noisy toilet and hole in the toilet door
Great location, good food, excellent staff and service.
