This hotel dates from the Tudor period, but the inside reflects the very best in modern design. It featured in the movie Four Weddings and a Funeral, as well as the TV show Midsomer Murders.
Score from 135 reviews Very good
On 18 acres of tranquil grounds, surrounded by beautiful Chiltern countryside, Uplands overlooks the Hughenden Valley and combines a classical mansion house with purpose-built, contemporary buildings....

Staff very friendly and attentive, well presented. Excellent facilities, clean rooms, really good food, would come back and would recommend.
The fact that I was charged a credit card fee. This was NOT stated in the policies and I am upset about it
Third stay at this hotel as the location and price are excellent. I love the swimming pool and the sauna, had the whole place to myself at 8am on Sunday morning. Very nice and friendly staff in the front reception and bar/restaurant areas. The countryside around the hotel is beautiful and we were able to set off on a mini hike after a peaceful swim and a hearty breakfast. great value for money. No doubt we will be returning.
A bit petty but would have liked any extra cover on the bed.
very enjoyable stay, we will certainly be back to enjoy the excellent hospitallity.
Another good nights sleep 1st class place to stay
Location Nice view
We booked a room for under £50! The surroundings were lovely, room very nicely decorated and comfortable. Breakfast was served in the lovely conservatory resataurant and included everything you could think of. The staff were really helpful without being intrusive.
The ensuite was sited next to the head of the bed instead of the foot which was annoying and sleep easily disturbed.
location, peace & quiet, good room, good breakfast, helpful staff
All service was very good, pleasant and attentive. Rooms were serviceable if not exceptional. Food was good and use of the pool/ fitness centre a bonus
The ventilator in our room - m605- didn't work.
Excellent facilities, but unfortunatly I arrived too late to try the gym. The room was comfortable and I had a reasonable nights sleep. What more do you need?
We loved the location and the staff were very friendly.
We were told on arrival we could use the swimming pool but it turned out there was a swimming lesson so we missed out.
Amazing location and unforgettable property take you back hundreds of years in history, good parking area.
We had a room on ground level, basic equipped but enough for one night. What we did not like was, very hard bed, not big enough duvet, smelly bedding, not enough tea and coffee for two adults and toiletries only for one guest. I could not sleep due to a big argument between other guests next door which argued few hours and other guests above our room walking in the middle of night around the room and I could hear every step. Clearly I can not say I had comfy sleep as I slept only few hours. Walls and ceiling need serious sound insulation. Breakfast also was a big disappointment, beacon, egg, black pudding etc very dry due to be left in warming trays. Such lovely property but needs lots of investment inside to rise comfort for guests.
My room different pillow
Needs a little bit of tlc in the dinning room and some paint need to be touched up
Cleanliness of our room, it was dirty and dusty. Safety issues with general layout in annexe building. Large mirror not attached to the wall, bathroom seat not fully attached in the room we moved to on complaint of the cleanliness of room 1. Cold water tap didn't function in our daughter's room, which she was moved to . Checkin and checkout was a shambles, booking not found under lead booking name, which was a booking for 3 rooms. We were invoiced for breakfast we had prepaid.
Noisy toilet and hole in the toilet door
Great location, good food, excellent staff and service.
The restaurant and venue setting were first class
room numbers beginning with 4 are excellent......
others are much older and smaller
Waiting for food
Location Refreshments Staff
Small room Very Noisy fan No air conditioning Poor TV and channels Room backed straight out on to car park on ground floor with no window so had to sleep with patio door open to keep cool - unsafe. At 6"2 the shows was hard to use without splashing all over the floor
The swimming pool and gym, the lovely library and other old rooms, which gave us a feeling of being in a castle. Real luxury and lots of freebies like the coffee, hot chocolate etc. on tap and the free biscuits, muesli bars etc. It was such fabulous value for money at £49 a night for an adult and two 15-year olds sharing. And so near to London - a quick taxi (£5.50) to the local station and into London in just over 30 minutes. It's my second time and will definitely be my choice for any trip to London.
I liked everything. I love this place (and no-one is paying me to say so!)
beautiful setting, excellent breakfast and good quality bedroom
Noisy wedding party drinking and swearing in mews . cold shower in the swimming complex so unable to shower off.
we had a good price through booking
the bathroom needed the corners and joints scrubbing - not the level expected
Rooms are clean and comfortable
The gym could do with having at least a multi-gym, very small!
