The setting, the staff and being looked after so well. Nothing was a problem, and everyone was so friendly.
The under floor heating in the bath/wet room was a bit too warm.
The Location and the setting is fabulous.
The wee demon golf course is sold as a short 9 hole course, but it is less than that and very poorly maintained. A Hotel of this standing should be able to offer better than that, especially given the quality of the Carrick . The valet parking although very nice is very time consuming especially when you need to go in and out.
What is not to like about Cameron House! This was an overnight stop for us after we did the seaplane flight from Loch Lomond. It was a fabulous hotel - a little bit posh but very friendly. The room was excellent and large enough not to feel spacious. Thoroughly recommended.
Loved the decor of the boathouse and the food was lovely. The whole experience was very special and it completed our holiday in Scotland perfectly.
The decor makes it a very dark hotel especially in the foyer. I realise that it is meant to have a baronial feel but I think it needs brightening up a little. The overall appearance was very manly.
location,Stunning views. Nice decor in room although basic room. hotel building itself. Relaxing atmosphere.
Could not get a table in any of the hotel or boathouse restuarant until very late. Leisure centre although good looked a bit tired and expected more for a 5* Hotel. Lighting in room was awful too dark No mirror close to where I could plug hair dryer in
The location is stunning Fabulous accommodation in one of the suites. Very friendly staff Excellent facilities including the spa
Service at breakfast was a little hit and miss.
The rooms, quality of the food and scenic location.
The hotel was very busy and the service was struggling to keep up with demand so there were long queues for breakfast and for reception enquires which is not what you expect when paying such high prices.
Asked for a loch view. Got a basement room with only small view out of door which we could not unlock. Disappointed. Also asked for porridge and omelette at breakfast. Both came together. Had to send omelette back but was served same omelette ten minutes later. Virtually unedible. Not what you would expect from a hotel of this standard.
Breakfast. Cameron Grill dark and gloomy.
Setting & decor
Lot of children in the pool, an adult only time could be a good idea (mornings / evenings)
Lovely, spacious room with very comfortable bed. Decorated and furnished to very high standard. Meal at Wishart's was glorious. Heated pool extremely relaxing. Quirky artworks were nice. Staff very helpful with everything.
Jacuzzi out of order was disappointing.
kitchen very poor at evening
waiters on breakfast smelling ugly
The gorgeous rooms, the reception check in process. The area around the hotel to run!
The beauty bar had a few services that were not offered and seemed to be busy according to appointments but no one was in there. I think some new leadership or a little revamp would make the experience much more inviting!
Stayed overnight for my husband's 50th birthday. We had a lovely meal in Martin Wishart's restaurant. Room, leisure facilities and bar were excellent.
Stayed in contemporary suite great facilities, views, quiet, all great
The stay was extremely relaxing from the outset. The staff are welcoming and helpful and the facilities are excellent. The room was large, airy and comfortable, the bar area cosy and comfortable. The Boathouse was fabulous!
A bit of a wait at check out and collecting the car, but this was minor.
-garden view room was a parking view room! -access to the spa is not included! -swimming pool very dirty and open to the public from the camping sites and surrounding villages -room was not clean -no slippers -wifi didn't work -staff at breakfast not professional at all (had to ask 3 times and wait 30 minutes to get coffee and toasts) -far too expensive for the quality they provide NEVER AGAIN !!!
Everything but particularly the setting - wonderful
location staff everything perfect though slightly overpriced
The room was lovely and had a great loch view good swimming facilities hotel staff very friendly
Didn't realise there were two sites so didn't plan the two days and missed out on going to the spa and roof top pool
Return to Cameron House a few times a year foe some relaxation and never disappoints feels like a home from home
Good choice of food, well prepared, generous portions, location quiet, bed very comfortable
No walk in shower :(
Lea sure facilities Comfy beds Good breakfast
Staff needed a front of house Who could oversee the restaraunt , the bar staff were more interested in the till than looking as to who needed serving.
Too big, perfect for families
myself and my husband stayed here for 2 nights after our wedding, it was excellent we had stayed before and actually got engaged there. we stayed in one of the lodges this time we chose to stay in the hotel itself, it was a completely different experience to the lodges. the staff are so attentive and can't do enough for you. we felt totally spoiled and will definately be back for our anniversary!
Could have been because of location
All doors banged terribly constantly disturbing rest
