We have visited for a few days near Christmas for four years. It is like coming home. It's warm, comfortable without being 'posh', conveniently placed for town, beach and Exeter. We love the Christmas lights and the warm swimming pool. We hope to visit for many years to come.

The breakfast was excellent and the location very pleasant. With the conservatory and lounge which were both light and airy it was good to be able to sit and relax. There is not enough parking for all the guests, we had to park on the road. It was difficult to control the termperature on the shower in the room. When using the gym facilities there was no staff member to ask to assist even though quite a lot of equipment said you needed to know how to use.

Staff were friendly. The Restaurant was hit and miss. I had 2 very poor meals over 3 nights we stayed.1 Dinner where the mixed grill had to be sent back due to an uncooked kidney and other meats on the plate where below standard. Secondly, a breakfast where I choose the smoked haddock, was delivered as 4 bits of tail ends and overcooked.

No. The evening food on offer was too expensive. The drinks also were scandalously expensive. The room was "ok" but that was all. The milk for Tea/Coffee was undrinkable!. The breakfast was also "ok" but in this day...Fried everything? Not for me I am sorry. Just about everything. The front of house staff were helpful I admit but the Barman was bordering on "Rude". The whole place is "TIRED" and needs an absolute fortune spent on it to bring it from the 1960's to present day. Noone will spend that sort of money so as is so "English" we bumble along and that is what is killing off South Coast Tourism. For the money I would spend in a week I could have a good week abroad in the sun and with Far better accommodation and service. I am sorry but The Devonshire is a tired old typically English Hotel that is still in the past and will remain that way until its total demise and probable closure.

We were provided with the Mercedes Suite after emailing it was our anniversary. The room was amazing and the very friendly staff added to a lovely weekend. I would thouroughly recommend this hotel if you want a relaxing break using the lovely spa facilities. It is close to the beach and has beautiful grounds. The location is conveient for a 10 minute walk into town. Parking a bit cramped, especially if youve got a large car.

The staff were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room had a balcony with a lovely see view. The decor in the rooms was dated. The rooms could do with a revamp however the lounge, dining room and reception were fine.

We stayed at the Devoncourt hotel in November 2011and had a very pleasant stay. The staff were very friendly and most helpful. The room was pleasant with everything we needed plus a balcony, however the decor was very tired looking. It was the weekend of the christmas lights which was well worth the visit. Overall an excellent weekend we hope to return in the summer.

In My line of work I stay at many hotels worldwide, in particular in Europe. Some of these hotels were supposed to have been of a good to high standard but were not. The Devoncourt I can only say was a major disappointment. The room we had was old and shabby, the heating didn't work effectively. I have tried to think of something that was good or even reasonable about this hotel, unfortunately I can't think of anything. The place was that bad we left a day early.

Easy parking right outside the hotel door. Conveniently located near the beach and quiet. Disappointing that the spa closed at 9pm as check in was not until 4.30 and check out was by 10.30. Unexpected charges for spa towels not listed on the website.

I was most impressed by the two staff I came had dealing with. The first one on entering at reception. She gave us all the information required very proffessional an dwas very pleasant when we I checked out. Also the man who attended us at braekfast even though we breakfast very late 9.50 I would rate 10 out of 10. Superb service very thoughtful and proffessional again..Also impressed that the room I had booked had been changed due to a larger room with a sea view, as thought (correctly) sea view would prefable. The breakfast I had was superb quality. I had stay at the Barn the previous week and there breakfast was not as good as your or as hot and service not as good. I find it hard to describe your hotel as you can see it was a grand place previously but is looking a bit tired and needs some updating comfortable as it is. I enjoyed the garden very much and do look forward to staying again. The Devoncourt Hotel was a relaxing hotel to stay. Staff and service were excellent along with the breakfast I had. I can only assume the food must be very good if the qualitiy and generous hot breakfast was anything to go by. The price of the room was very fair. I was impressed that due to fact that the yhad a spare room with a sea view I was upgraded to that one on arrival which was also larger for no extra charge. I will be stay at this hotel again when in Exmouth Devon. I have stayed in a few others here but this has turned out to be the best. Keep it up Devoncourt.
