Facilities and location
It was easy to get parked, nice and central to everything
Good breakfast and light comfortable room with plenty of storage. Staff very friendly and nothing was too much trouble, special dietary requirements were available.
Rooms where very clean and comfortable and we where given a warm welcome with tea and biscuits on the terrace. We where also given complimentary water in this hot water, an additional extra that makes a lot of difference, so easy to forgot to buy a bottle of water on the way home, so knowing it was available was great. An excellent B@B which I would recommend
Lovely greeting on first day after a hard day's walk in the Sussex Weald. Carolyn puts you at ease immediately. Complementary water bottles in refrigerator a life-saver as the shops were a 15 minute walk away. Single room comfortable, clean with well thought out shower room. My father would have approved of the "good plumbing" - toilet flushed well!. Fan - essential on first night to cool the temperature down. more than enough storage room Full English Breakfast - lovely. Value for money compared with competitors Parking available in the streets without having to pay. Carolyn is friendly whilst respecting your privacy I passed the chambermaid once and she said a cheery hello - a plus point for good customer service. I don't know why but I was surprised the room was cleaned on a daily basis. This was a bonus.
Lack of wifi internet in bedroom. would have liked to have talked to the rest of my family who are on holiday in Africa. Savvy travellers will have come prepared with 3G/4G dongles for their tablets/laptops. But at this budget price it is doubtful whether the outlay involved in providing wifi range extenders and fast broadband to enable comprehensive wifi coverage over three floors could be recouped. Let's face it the profit margins available for bed and breakfast hotels are slim enough as it is. This establishment is geared to its target market of families with young children and couples, not families with teenagers. The table setting was cramped as the room was full and I am not exactly petite. Carolyn was apologetic about this on both mornings. However at this price point I did not consider this to be a biggie. (The price of a two day stay is 40% that of Premier Inn or Travel Lodge). Clearly if you want the same level of discreet personal customer service at an establishment that is not a bland anonymous hotel then you are in boutique hotel territory at a price to match. For this walking holiday I did not need the opulence of a five star room. I just needed a base that was convenient and clean. Would definitely recommend this establishment to my friends providing Carolyn continues to work front of house.
The building, the attentative welcome, the very pleasant, well equipped and extremely clean room, and well-cooked breakfast, all at a reasonable price.
Parking, though we found a space on the front, could have been a problem. This however, would not deter us from staying again.
Having spent the previous 2 nights in a £230 per night room at the Grand Hotel we and honestly say the Devonia exceeds the Grand in every way except pretentious grandeur. The staff are more friendly, the rooms are infinitely better and even the breakfast is better. We have stopped in many B&B's over the years and this one of the best.
......No can't think of anything, we can not fault it.

Everything! Spacious, comfortable room, helpful staff and a great breakfast.
We had a nice room, well appointed, friendly staff available at all times. Use of a guest fridge, stocked with bottled water was a nice additional feature.
Breakfast was cold every day although the plates were warm!
Spotlessly clean, Terry and Carolyn were very helpful and friendly. Good location and on site parking with an excellent choice of breakfast. Panoramic views from the good sized attic room.
