Room decor is modern and attractive. The room was spotlessly clean. The food was excellent - great choice, well prepared and beautifully presented. Good choice of wines. A very comfortable and very relaxing stay. The pub is well situated for touring the Somerset Levels. There are many attractions closeby including National Trust properties, attractive villages/towns and outlet shopping at Kilvery Court and Street. My only complaint would be the coir carpet in the bedroom - somewhat hard on the feet!

Local to many nature and rspb reserves. Food and accommodation were well presented and staff were helpful and attentive, but never overbearing. Our first trip to this part of tyhe country in 40 years we will be back at other times during the seasons.

Beautiful country hotel with typical english charasteristics and quite modern from the inside , well decorated, speacious rooms and bathroom. Diner and breakfast were perfect with friendly staff. Be aware to call the hotel if you arrive between 3 and 6. Shower pressure could be slighly better

Well decorated in the shabby-chic style throughout. Good food with lots of local sourcing. There was no-one on the premises between 3pm and 6pm. This proved a problem as the heat failed to come on in the afternoon, and we had to hunt for someone to put it right. By this time we were quite cold. The bathroom was very cold as a result too, and made washing/showering etc not comfortable. When we arrived for breakfast the following morning, the room was locked and we had to hunt for the person we needed to open it. The girl thought breakfasts started half an hour after it said in their brochure. I ordered poached eggs and got scrambled eggs. There was no phone in the room and the room was fairly basic. The WiFi didn't seem to work. We left after one night, despite booking two..

Lovely atmosphere with friendly staff. Rooms were bright and clean. The food in the restaurant is excellent using local produce with great presentation and service. The breakfast also was very good.with high quality produce. The Devonshire Arms is the type of pub/restaurant/small hotel you always hope you will find but rarely do. A real gem.

Lovely village location with amenities nearby. Although we didn't spend much time at the hotel, the facilities were comfortable and welcoming. Breakfast was nice if a little too dainty for my liking. Little on the plate and barely filled me for until lunch. The strict times serving were a little inconvenient only between half 8 to half 9 meant being up relatively early. Not for those who who like a lie in!

Atmosphere was great. Ensure you book table for dinner when you book or check in, well worth it as place is popular with locals. Food was excellent. Service even better.

The room was very clean and comfortable with all necessary facilities. The staff were very friendly and helpful-I felt very welcome from arrival until I left. The breakfast was very good with plenty of fruit and cereals toast, marmalade and jams. I do not have cooked breakfasts so cannot comment here. Different juices were available as well as coffee and tea, which was just as I like. Thank you very much.

very convenient location if you want to explore the region. We had a very nice and spacious room on the front side of the hotel with a comfortable 'king size' bed. The quality of the food is excellent - at breakfast and for dinner - we did not try lunch. The place is busy at dinner time, especially in week-ends. The restaurant is known for its quality! Make sure you reserve your table. The noise level in the restaurant is sometimes loud.... but I guess that is a small price to pay for outstanding cuisine. The mirror in the en-suite bathroom is fixed at gnome height. I recommend gentlemen shaving to sit on the toilet while shaving or else end up with a hernia :-) The shower works fine.

Excellent location in a small rural village but with easy access off main roads. Quiet and comfortable accommodation in an inn which is geared towards food with a smaller bar area. We were travelling with my elderly mother so asked for consideration of access. They put us in 2 adjoining ground floor rooms - perfect! Grounds and accommodation were well kept and spotlessly clean. Staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again. Double room we stayed in was a little small but comfortable and very clean.

The hotel is a comfortable and nicely designed country hotel. The food was very good and the staff friendly and fairly efficient. The restaurant and bar was packed on the saturday and night and obviously seemed very popular. I would stay there again.

Beautiful Hotel, very tastefully restored and decorated. The food was excellent as was the service, and the rooms were sizable and spotless. The modern interior might not be to everyone's tastes but we loved the bright modern interion. We will certainly be staying again

“The setting in charming Montacute was exactly what we were looking for. The inn has a sense of history and at the same time concern for contemporary traveler's needs. Our dinner was excellent and the traditional English Breakfast was updated just enough. I also enjoyed exploring the churchyard next door and hiking St Michael's Hill.” Nancy, Freeland |
