Nothing it was that dirty the room I could not stop itching and we didn't stay the night even and booked another hotel! Room wasn't ready so came back at 3.30pm and still not ready and receptionist said people normally leave bags and go out and don't get back until midnight. I said I wanted shower etc before going out. Got room at 4pm tv didn't work no sound and screen all green in colour, window broken and had hole in wood fraught came right through and the bedding! Well looked clean when first looked as White cover over duvet and pillowcases and White sheet. Sat on bed and could smell a not very nice smell and saw the end of the duvet that was covered and it was disgusting! Filthy and grey and needed a boil wash to say the least! Please don't stay here what a dump! No facilities on Sunday's either no bar open and skeleton staff!

The grounds of the Hotel were very well kept and pleasant. The staff were mainly polite and helpful. The size of the room was good.... The furnishings in the room were sparse and very dated, a pair of curtains would have been an improvement. We have had more facilities and comfort in Budget hotels,

Short taxi-ride from centre of Liverpool. Grand looking building from outside. Staff were very friendly and helpful, used them to book a taxi twice which was very efficient. Good for a no-frills short stay - family room was very spacious. Situated in quiet area - no traffic noise as well away from road. The room was rather basic. TV didn't work but we were only there for 1 night so didn't really mind. Blackout blinds only in bedrooms - would have been better with curtains also to make the room feel more cosy.

Very helpful staff. My original room did not have a very good wi-fi reception so I was immediately upgraded. Food was excellent.

The water took ages to get cold from the cold tap as it was near hot most of the time until really run thru for a minute or two. Also could have done with a shower in the room as it only had a bath but still good value for money.

The stay at the devonshire was ok, but there was a lot of touch up required, there was mold around the bath and there were stains on the ceiling and carpets. The staff were very friendly an room service was quick, however the wine cooler was split so when the ice melted it leaked everywhere. The entrance to the hotel was also a sight for sore eys but the gardens were fantastic.

Close to anfield, good access to city via bus Apart from breakfast staff (who were very friendly) reception staff were surly and treated questions as impositions. Bed was small, hard and uncomfortable & the room had furniture reminiscent of the nunnery the building once was. It's a shame because the grounds are pretty and with a little work the place could be magnificent

Pretty grounds and reception area. The rooms were had were tired and in need of repair, the cold water tap ran hot and wallpaper was peeling from the walls. In our room on the top floor we didn't even have a wardrobe, merely a hanging rail. The staff were not friendly or helpful either, and even removed the reception bell after hours! All in all a very disappointing hotel and not worth the money at all.

I stayed in a single room and found it excellent value for money. The room was small but comfortable and most importantly had en-suite shower/toilet facilities. Although on the outskirts of the city, it is on a bus route and taxis are readily available for a 10 - 15 minute drive to the city centre. The staff were friendly, polite and helpful, the breakfast good and the hotel is set in a well-kept and pleasant garden. A short walk up the road takes you to Tescos Express, Lidl, MacDonalds and other shops. I would definitely return should I return and have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone visiting Liverpool. About the only thing I would suggest is a bedside light so that when reading in bed one is not looking into the full glare of overhead lights, but having said that, it was not a major problem and the lights had switches right next to the bed, so could be switched off without having to get out of bed.

The proximity of the hotel to the city. Another guest had charged a meal in the restaurant to our room. But on leaving we explained that we ate out every night, the receptionist accepted the fact that we wouldn't have ordered one meal for two people. We had to go back to reception to have the key reactivated every afternoon. Slightly annoying, as we had booked a specific amount of days.

The hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly, especially in helping us to change our room. The location is great for city centre and was just up the road from where I was visiting on business. The gardens are beautiful and the hotel attractive looking in a quiet location. Rooms are spacious but could do with updating. The first room allocated had an old wooden sash window that didn't close and it was a cold day so I had to ask to change rooms. The second room had obviously been recently decorated but not aired and smelt so strongly of paint I feared waking with a massive headache, finally the third room I was given was ok. The hotel is a lovely building with pretty gardens and lovely staff but is incredibly let down by poor decor and seemingly a lack of maintenance. Oh and the food in the restaurant was disgraceful, would recommend eating out!!

The garden was well laid out and maintained. The hotel itself was quiet and seemed to be well run with friendly staff who took the time to talk to you. The room itself was not very well laid out. The bed seemed to be in the wrong place. As a result, power points were fairly inaccessible.

I booked this hotel because of the price. My room was clean and comfortable, and it was in a great location for where I needed to be. The staff were very friendly. I would stay again. £12 for a breakfast that really wasn't up to scratch, or worth the money.

The room was large with a big window. Nice and comfortable, with a clean and large bathroom. The reception room for the wedding we attended was beautifully decorated and looked amazing. The food in the restuarant was not good and of poor quality. There was good choice on the menu but the food itself was poorly cooked, was over cooked, (the lasagne had no meat in it, the onion rings and garlic bread were burnt) and the presentation was poor, and most of all tasted awful. It was poor value for money. It was impossible to get an iron. The decor was very dated and the carpet was threadbare in places.

Nice spacious bright room, lovely gardens, really nice buffet breakfast. The bed was a bit hard. After a night out in the town we came back and wanted a drink in the bar, there was no one serving just a phone on the bar and a sign saying to dial 0 for service which we did..twice, but no one came. Told the receptioist and still after 20 mins waiting gave up and went to bed, it was 11.20pm!
