The Devonshire House Hotel was in a quiet location within easy reach of the city centre. The room was lovely and the bathroom had a spa bath - what a luxury! However there was no hair dryer in the room which was disappointing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Did not feel the cooked breakfast was particularly good value for money. There was a selection of fruit juice and cereal, but the cooked breakfast was 1 sausage, 2 slices of bacon, an egg, beans and tinned tomato. There was plenty of toast though.

I booked one twin room and one double room for my family of 4 adults +1 baby. For the doule room we were given a spacious family room instead which has 2 extra single beds when I mentioned I brought my 4-mo baby. There was no extra charge- great! The bathroom/toilet is nice and clean. The hotel is cosy and quiet. 1-It'll be great if the price can be lowered a bit. 2-The post code given on the website direct us to the back entrance of the hotel. Would be nice if it direct us to the main entrance.

Great value for money. Big rooms for the price. Plenty of storage space in the room. Quiet location. Nice and clean in every room. Good lighting in the bathroom. The Shower was very powerful and stayed at the same warm comfortable temperature when in use. The staff were sometimes unhelpful behind the desk and not very accommodating, and took a long time to fulfill a request. For example, there was no remote control for the television in our room. The Remote Control was eventually brought up to the room, but was found to be defective. Also the LCD TV in our room was so small (14") we had to use binoculars to watch it from the bed! In the evening our rooms were particularly hot and humid - even when heating was turned off. Air Conditioning would be a welcome feature.

I liked how easy it was to get to the city center from the hotel. I was having trouble finding the hotel when I initially arrived there, so I called the hotel to get directions and the person who answered could not provide me directions. At the end of our conversation she ended up saying "good luck" instead of trying to help me.

The staff were polite and efficient The bed was atrocious, the mattress was squeeky and the springs pushed into your back. The bath was dirty coloured and moved underfoot whilst having a shower, I felt I was going to fall thru !

Despite the hotel being in a good location and set in lovely grounds it is desperately in need of upgrading & cleaning. The first room I was given was damp wallpaper peeling off windows didn't close so raining in. The next room wasn't much better dirty carpet, wall plaster had holes in, wallpaper falling off damp and musty!! I realise this was a cheap night but it was Terrible!!

Convenient and cheapest option at the time I booked Could have done with better cleaning. Facade on main street look delapidated - but actual building in use now is behind this (unable to see from main road).

The hotel is in need of a full renovation. Our room (an executive) had cheap pine furniture, damaged carpet (covered by a mat), gaps in the window frame, blinds (no curtains), a dreadful bed, a tired bathroom and door locks that didn’t work (had to borrow the pass key). We also had the unfortunate experience of there being a wedding at the hotel which meant that sleep was difficult until the disco was finished. To sum up, a 1 to 2 star hotel at a 4 star price. We shall not visit again

The staff we're fantastic, very friendly and approachable There were some minor cleanliness issues but they were dealt with by the manager. General standards were fair for a drop off place but i would stay there again.

Helpful receptionist. Easy check-in and out. Free breakfast!! Convenient location for us (can't speak for people needing to get into town centre)Room was clean, comfortable and quite spacious. You could hear some noises from other rooms, but nothing really bad at all.

Nothing. Read comments below. Very disappointed with hotel, certainly doesn't look like the pictures on the internet. Myself and my husband booked this hotel for a nice quite night away while the grandparents had our toddler and 10month old for the night. When we got to the hotel it looked as though it hasn't been decorated for a good few years. The room we were booked into had a radiator missing off the wall with the brackets removed but had not been redecorated and the toilet wasn't working. When we returned from seeing a show in Liverpool the toilet still hadn't been fixed and the alternative room we were offered had damp all over one of the walls. I cancelled the booking and drove home refusing to stay in the hotel.
