Great freshly cooked breakfast
Shower curtain so lightweight it wrapped around you when taking a shower. Shower head height only 4 feet high so kneeling down to shower not great.
The waitress who described Filo Prawns as 'Fish'
£85 tariff for double bed with 2 singles of hugely different heights Continuous loud drip and loud hum from WC cistern No alternative room No maintenance staff For 'Bistro' read 'Cafe' No refund (yet)
Staff very friendly and helpful. Location was great, bus stop just across the road was great for getting into the city centre. Room was clean and bright. The breakfast was lovely.
Evening meal was disappointing, however staff did apologies and didn't charge us the full amount. The fire door just outside the room squeaked everything someone went through it, it sounded as if someone was coming into the room.
Fair location its about five minutes to Albert dock by taxi. Liverpool is an amazing city. The grounds of the hotel are lovely and plenty of parking, nice reception area friendly staff.
The whole place needs updating urgently thus the price!! The night staff need to make more "walk about" routine checks on all floors, how the staff didn't hear the constant banging, knocking and slamming of doors and the rows and arguing we just don't know, but there you go manger could only offer a discount he wasn't really interested so don't think we will be staying here again.
Staff, location, size of room, breakfast, beautiful gardens.
We enjoyed our stay. Hotel needs a little ,'t.l.c.' In places.
The location was good, just a short taxi ride to Liverpool centre.
Room very dated, black mould in the shower cubicle.Could hear noise from other guest late at night.
Everything except wifi was slow
Wifi could be improved
Inside city on edge lane close to AlderHay and university, v convenient, easy access to motorway
Clean rooms and bed linen Friendly helpful staff
Food only had chips with every meal,
Basic and underwhelming but served a purpose and clean.
The staff were all very nice and the breakfasts were of a good quality.
This hotel is tired and could do with a much needed renovation. The most uncomfortable two nights sleep my wife and I have ever experienced in a hotel. The bed itself, a double, made up of two singles joined together, had a height difference of seven centimetres in the middle and the mattresses were very uncomfortable. In order to flush the toilet twice in a short time, we had to lift the lid of the cistern in order to have it refill. This was accompanied by a loud noise, which would no doubt disturb our near neighbours.
Wedding Reception was wonderful, it's obviously what they specialise in. Staff at breakfast very friendly and helpful.
If you need sleep don't stay at the Devonshire. Horrendously noisy all night long. Attitude of the Reception Staff, they didn't care whether we were there or not, they need lessons from the Breakfast Staff. Cleanliness left a lot to be desired dirty towels in room on arrival, had to ask reception for more. Every tap we turned on came off in our hands - shower unsatisfactory. Couldn't close bedroom window because no catch. They advertise as having WiFi which was not available in our room, even though they said it should be!! Basically we could go on, but be assured we will NEVER stay there again.
Devonshire House does not set out to be a five star luxury hotel. What it is is a good value-for-money hotel with friendly, helpful staff with all the facilities you could want of such a hotel and we found it immaculately clean. We wanted somewhere that felt like it was in Liverpool, not a standard chain hotel that could have been anywhere in the world. The Devonshire filled that requirement excellently.
Beautiful grounds ,wedding reception room was amazing ,fantastic day
No shower in my room, and rooms need updating ,shabby but clean
Location was ideal for city centre and car parking very adequate.
1. Room (351) was not to a satisfactory comfort. Bed was hard, shower was a safety concern as when you turn up the power (not much power though) the temperature was scorching!!! 2. Breakfast was not relaxing as I felt watched over by the staff. They served you portions (very small) of cooked food and you got the impression you daren't ask for more than they gave! The whole experience was as if they were looking to see how much you were to consume, eat away the hotel's profits! The mood was very sombre, why not turn up the lighting, have a bit of back ground music??
We arrived a good few hours early as we we were going to a wedding. The manager said we could use our room to put our bags in and have a shower even though the room wasn't ready .They then made sure the room was the next one made up -.very good service indeed. Residents bar stays open nice and late !!!!!
hotel is a little bit dated -nothing a lick of paint wont fix -but the staff more than make up for that.
cold room kept ing banging my head on ceiling
Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean comfy rooms. good parking facilities Quiet and tranquil inspite of being in the city centre. Room service. restaurant and bar.
poor wifi signal.
Tea\coffee in the room. Not far from the bus stop. Tasty breakfast.
Only 1 chair for family room with 3 beds. In the bathroom is pretty gloomy.
The mattress was uncomfortable, we kept rolling into the middle. The carpet was quite worn and didn't look particularly clean. We thought overall the room looked tired. We would have liked more choice at breakfast, with a selection of white and brown bread.
everything was good even breakfast was good.hot and plenty of it.
Free parking but still reasonable close to the city centre (10 minutes drive - parking's alright in the centre, albeit expensive). Rooms are quiet and clean, since the hotel is in a garden a little apart from the road. Pretty good for a night or two in Liverpool if it's only to sleep.
It was okay for a night in Liverpool, clean and everything, but looked run-down. Had I been a business traveller it'd be irritated how a conference hotel can have doors that don't quite fit into frames, window handles that fall of, screws hanging out of the furnitue, showers that leak everywhere (leaving little pressure for actual showering) and a WiFi network that only works in the lobby.
Great location, lovely grounds, plenty of parking, big rooms, comfortable beds and sio handy for City Centre and M62
Beds - could feel springs, lumpy. Room dusty Bathroom not clean, area around shower screen black, had to clean a bit before use. staff, 2 were friendly and both of them in restaurant, others would benefit from retraining. Some rubbish around outer of hotel. Bin area dreadful - a haven for vermin. Breakfast ok but dinner not. Did not recognise hotel from road, had to turn in between garage & derelict building - not a good introduction. Onions on floor near a dirty mop. Expensive beer which tasted eggy - a sign of dirty pipes. Staff - especially receptionist did not make eye contact and no conversation
