Beautifully refurbished hotel, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Everything was supplied. Lots of different types of tea and coffee in the room, all the toiletries you could possibly need, plenty of coat hangers, iron and ironing board, hairdryer etc.

The food was excellent but the number of choices for dinner were a bit limited. Didn't matter though as we walked across the road to Stocks on occasion for a bit more variety.

decor of hotel generally really nice, room 16 layout was lovely, good shower in room 16

noisy room 15 due to air conditioning unit opposite on all night and reception noise; when this was mentioned to girl at reception her reaction was "thats just too bad". Breakfast was awful. The continental breakfast was about gone by 8.15 and not replaced, the staff were just not bothered and no smoked salmon was available (might understand if end of service but this was 15 minutes in!) Dinner at hugo's - we were charged double price for slightly larger portions of sausage and mash for the children - about £12 each! We have children of 12 and 9 so had to get 2 rooms which were nearly £300 for one night stay which I think was too expensive for BB given what was offered by this hotel. :-(

Polite and friendly staff. cleanliness. Peacefulness and tranquillity French windows opening unto the balcony and garden. Good food and service.

Difficulty of access due to my disability. I now understand that I would have to plan 3 months ahead for a mobility scooter permit.
