excellent friendly happy helpful staff, lovely old building. ideal place to unwind for a day or two, really quiet area but loads to see on the doorstep. fantastic huge bed in room 7 !!
Food and room were both excellent. They let us check in an hour early as well.
Excellent location. Room very nice. Staff very friendly and informative. Very good poached eggs.
Executive room well presented Good staff
the blend of an ancient building married with modern facilities. Great atmosphere and the staff team were marvellous.
we did not find anything to dislike.
the whole character of the building, the friendliness of the staff, good parking.
nothing at all
Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, excellent food and beer, quiet and comfortable room with much character. In a lovely little town
Food in the restuarant was lovely. The rooms was very comfortable.
Noticed a small spot of blood on the pillowcase (thankfully there was extra) and wasn't provided with fresh towels.
The hotel had character and staff were friendly
The tv didn't work properly and there were no toileteries provided
Excellent food Varied menu
no shampoos/conditioners/soap - just a std dispenser on the wall. Breakfast is a set £7.99 regardless of how many items. I paid £7.99 for 2 rashers of bacon and scrambled egg and 1 pot of tea.
Room and location was lovely and very quaint.
Had to pay extra for breakfast and also water feed to upper rooms passed through so whenever anyone used any water it woke us in the night as it was very noisy.
Food and furniture style
Very comfy room - a combination of new and old. Great bed, very big bathroom with bathtub. Free parking and free high-speed WiFi - location smack in the middle of Tutbury. Staff very friendly and forthcoming.
Perhaps the breakfast is a little expensive considering the selection, but all food is of excelent quality.
Location and friendliness
Cooked breakfast, too greasy
Loved the character, evening meal was excellent. Lovely, lovely staff, most helpful and polite.
Snack we had the following day was very disapointing, baguette was rock hard, (thought I had broken tooth) and salad was brown, not fresh on both parts, sent back twice, had refund in the end
Quirky old building nicely refurbished. Large double bedroom and bathroom Good restaurant with a wide range of dishes. All the staff were friendly and efficient. Air-con in the bedroom was a nice surprise on a hot summer day.
The bed in room 5 is very tired and needs replacing. There is an extractor outside the bathroom window which runs all night with a constant drone.
This is an absolutely superb hotel. The customer service was some of the best I have received. Very family friendly.
Good easy parking & very helpful staff
As a 78yr bloke l found the stairs a bit of a problem, but l coped with them
Staff friendliness, new manageress seems to be committed so should see some improvement from previous visits. Food in bar good, fast service.
Very poor quality mattress and tired looking towels and bedding. Dust in the room, bathroom back of door where there shouldn't be. (basic housekeeping).
staff friendly and efficient
price a bit expensive
Unique rooms, large bathroom. Food was good, a varied menu. Check out was late 12.00.
Room was very hot and stuffy even in early June. Staff didn't tell us about air con, it worked but was blowing hot by morning. Shower was over the bath not a separate cubicle as shown in photos and cost £10 extra. Noise from traffic because windows needed to be open the small amount allowed.
The building is very old so has loads of character. The staff were so friendly and accomodating, and the food was really good. I was very impressed. The room was perfectly sized for a solo traveller with a very comfy bed and good shower. The wifi was strong and fast, which is always a bonus!
I had a small/standard double room (Room 8). Was perfect for me as a solo business traveller but might be a little small for a couple. Not a major negative at all, just a point worth mentioning.
The adaption of a very old building sympathetically
Wanted to leave early so asked to pay the night before. this seemed like an unusual request. There was nowhere to leave my key in the morning as staff hadn't arrived. breakfast would have been difficult for me as very little on offer that was gluten free
Peace and quite and the helpfull staff
Staff were very friendly and the building is stunning.
Cobwebs, faulty lights, rusty shower curtain rail and the most uncomfortable bed we have ever experienced!!!
