Excellent food, staff excellent, nice surroundings, good atmosphere, very welcoming only one thing, we had no hot water in our bathroom, it was tepid at best. My husband looked in the cupboard where the hot water tank was and only the lower immersion heater was connected, so you couldn't have a bath, and the shower was hanging off the towel rail secured by cable ties at just above waist height so that was a no go as well. I would have to mention this if I was staying again.

The location was lovely and the staff were friendly and polite. The pub was decorated in sympathy with its era, and the conservatory was an attractive addition which allowed full views of the countryside. The food was of a good standard and the accommodation was comfortable and clean, we liked the fact that our dog was also welcome. We thought that the food was quite expensive, and would have liked the price of breakfast included, as this was overpriced in comparision to other places that we have stayed in. Combined breakfast for the two of us was nearly £13 and I only ever eat cereal and toast. I would only recommend the dog and partridge if the price of breakfast was either advertised on the website, or included in the overall price. The term bed and breakfast should mean just that, not bed with extra costs.

We were a large family group and the outside play area was absolutely great for the children. The staff were superb and tried to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We appreciated the breakfast table arrangement which kept us altogether and the breakfast itself was very good. Accommodation could do with updating both inside but more especially outside. The cost of the evening food is too expensive/upmarket considering the inn is family orientated and most people just want a simple reasonably priced meal. After being out all day we would all have liked to have eaten in-house each evening but the cost was far too much.

This motel is not a good value. I thought we were staying in a country inn hotel not a run down motel in the middle of nowhere. Poorly maintain old furniture, sofa beds and chairs. The bathroom was a disgrace and smelled like wrotten eggs or sewer gas. I reported the smell to the mgr and a man came and put bleach on the toilet and he said that will take away the smell., It didnt. I paid for a family room of six and we didnt have space to walk around the room, because the old heavy sofa beds that we couldnot put away an sit down, no space to sit an relax. The staff was not friendly. Breakfast ok but the service very slow. I will not recommend this motel. They seems to allow pets in every room and my daughter and I suffered from cats and dogs allergies, we had to get some clarityn It was not a hotel the signed at the place stated Motel. Very dissapointed.

We had 2 guest rooms located behind the main Inn and were able to park our car right beside them. My older sons 19/17 took one and my husband, youngest son age 9 and I took the other. Both Rooms very nice - decor a little dated in one but very clean and well presented. Great location for Alton Towers. All the Staff were very friendly and helpful. The Staffordshire Oatcakes and the Local Beer Nemesis - delicious. Quality and choice of breakfast was excellent as was the evening bar menu. Overall very good value - would certainly book again. Not a complaint at all - just a suggestion - a little background music at breakfast would have been nice touch to welcome the early arrivals. Once more guests arrived and there was a general hubub the atmosphere was lovely but initially we found ourselves talking in whispers as it was so quiet.

Convenient for Alton Towers around 8 miles away. Nice small village Ashbourne only 5 miles in opposite drection. The rooms were set away from the main reception building, set in separate chalet locations and were very comfortable and homely. Evening meal in the bar fish and chips was not edible. There was a good selection of food but I made the wrong choice. Breakfast was good with a good selection of cereals and fresh juices. Full English was good but you could sole your shoe with the black pudding.

I found the hotel very warm and welcoming when I arrived. I was surprized to find out that my room was actually based outside of the main house after I was invited to bring my car round to the back of the hotel. It was nice to be able to have my own space. The room was comfortable and clean. The room was quite cold when I firsted arrived although it soon warmed up once the electric heater was turned on

Room was good - a double with a separate bunk room for the kids. . We had a splendid "full English" breakfast and our dinner the night before was quite acceptable and service was good and fast. Room smelt a bit musty - needed a good airing, I think. The double bed was not the most comfortable leading to a bit of a restless night. Like most hotels these days, they do not provide a top sheet under the duvet which means it is hard to get comfy - you are either too hot with duvet pulled up or too cold with it off your shoulders.

We are a family of six and this is the first time that we could all share a suite together, normally we have to book two rooms and split up. The children age from 13 to 21 but there was plenty of room. The staff were very friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was very good and the food served in the evening was delicious too. All in all we had a great break and would go back again.

The staff were helpful and friendly and the food was varied and enjoyable. The hotel also likes dogs. We had not realised how close the hotel was to Alton Towers so it was rather full of children (not surprising in school holidays) and as a result the restaurant was very noisy especially in the evenings. Traffic noise from the main road nearby is also significant in the early morning.

“The staff were welcoming, exceptionally helpful and fun. The service was very good and the breakfast just right for us. The hotel is comfortable, in a quiet location and very convenient for the town. Our main reason for staying was for an evening theatre performance and we thoroughly enjoyed our whole visit. Thank you.” Christopher, Winsford |

“I really haven't the words to describe my visit to this hotel. We booked to stay because we were going on a Ghost walk aroung Tutbury Castle. The room was beautiful, spotlessly clean, the bed was comfortable, bathroom perfect, tea making facilities. I Could go on and on. I will certainly stay there again just for the sheer luxury. All of the staff we met were most welcoming, made us feel special,. We ate at the restaurant at lunchtime, so much to choose from the menu, and had a full english breakfast in the morning, the food was beautifully presented and excellent to eat. At night it looked beautiful. there was never a wait for anything and the Staff were so obliging. I sincerely hope this portrays the feeling I had when staying at your hotel, if it doesn't then I don't know what more I can say. Thank you for a perfect weekend. Your staff are more than excellent.
