Great setting for Peak District walking or driving , lovely warm welcome and friendly staff, nice well-appointed room , all we needed , lovely food with plenty of choice (including breakfast) even for a vegetarian like me .We'll be back, great value. My wife would prefer a slightly larger quilt but that's probably my fault not the quilts

Check the menu before using the restaurant, it could save you a fortune. Lots of pubs and restaurants in Ashbourne a couple of miles away

The ambience and atmosphere, the space and privacy, the car port right next to accommodation. That we had to carry our heavy bags to the furthest corner of the grounds before being told we could drive to the door!

The pictures on the website did not do this place justice, it was lovely. The room was much bigger than exected and the breakfast was yummy. Perfect lace to stay for alton towers, as its only 10 mins away.

My daughter and her family were coming up from the south to go to Alton Towers and we met them there for Sunday lunch and stayed overnight to be with them. The location for Alton Towers is spot on. The meal was very good. The staff very friendly. The breakfast had a wide choice. The cereal and fruit bar was extensive. I have never seen as much variety anywhere else. The cooked breakfast was excellent. The Sunday lunch I thought was overpriced for what it was. The drinks at the bar and the evening sandwiches were extortionate. The public rooms were very cold. Our bedroom was a chalet style and that was also very cold. My grandchildren complained that they were cold in bed.

It was spacious and warm and the staff were friendly. There were shortcomings in the design of the accomodation. The food and drink were over priced and the management was rigid and rule bound. The treatment of a complaint was dire; we left early but were required to pay for the whole period.

We stayed there for the convenience of being close to Alton Towers; most of the other guests seemed to be there for the same reason. Bar and restaurant area is nice and staff were friendly. We were in the older accommodation block, where the furniture was rather worn and the mattress had grooves like the Grand Canyon! Waitresses were not great at getting orders right first time. No wifi in the rooms but it is available free in the bar/reception area.

The food and service. For someone who is disabled there are too many steps to be negotiated to get to the restaurant.

To be honest we got to the hotel at 2345, and after a three and a half hour drive we weren't really up for a tour. We slept, woke early, and went off to Alton towers, so can't really say anything about the dog and partridge. However, the staff were polite and friendly, the room clean, and very quickly warm (it was freezing outside!) the only downside was that the bed was quite low, and appeared to be just under average length, as I and my partner are quite tall, it made sleep a bit of a back strainer! We would probably stay there again. Short bed for tall people!

The hotel was close to where we needed to be. We booked a 'Family Suite for 4' and is advertised as having 1 double room, 1 room with bunkbeds and a lounge. We got 1 double room, 1 twin room and 1 room with bunkbeds - NO LOUNGE. The decor of the room was nothing like that as advertised for this 'Suite', in fact it was tatty !!. The mirror in the bathroom would have not been out of place in a womans handbag it was that small. Oh, no fridge either!! To top it all, the room was not serviced between nights.

Location near peak district is good. Large garden with lots of playground activities which, if travelling with children, I can imagine is very good. The rooms are not very soundproof- we could hear a baby in the next room crying very clearly. The rooms are uninspirational 'pre-fab' type buildings in the grounds of the hotel, and are dated, very worn, and not in keeping with both the image the hotel promotes on its website, and the price charged (which was considerable, given the poor rooms).
